What a stunner. The cream and gold screams an gleams yo. That dial is minty and i would stare at it all day. "Do not operate heavy machinery while wearing this watch". Great video as always!
A great video on a beautiful watch. You have to love the vintage Omegas. The case turned out amazing. The watch is working great. Thanks for the video Matt
Hi Matt great video as always and loving the Omega sir your neighbour has great taste one thing though can you do a video on some watchmaking books for beginner tinkers like me and everyone who watches this channel that don't cost a small fortune if not can you put it on the community thing thanks mate Andy.
Hilarious to randomly meet you through an online marketplace after having watched some of your videos. Thanks for the kind gesture and the advice. Having a look at your workplace did inspire me a bunch to get going with this insane hobby for the mentally unstable.
Would love to see the process of removing the radium from an old large number watch and reluming... although it might not be something you want to get into! another great video.
hah you won't see that with me. I would never remove radium from a dial. The most I have done is remove radium from hands under water so the dust does not fly and that was outside. The process would be exactly the same and some people really don't get hung up on it or don't care. Maybe I am to pedantic about it but I'm not taking chances. Tritium is different as the half life has well and truly past so no longer radioactive. Saying that though I still remove it with care.
I just purchased a stainless semaster about 2 hours ago, I don't know much about it yet except it's time only. Perhaps I'll have time to open it up this week and have a good look. But I also purchased 3 pocket watches and an early wristwatch Saturday. The 18s south bend has some keyless issues and the KW waltham has a damaged hair spring and a missing the roller jewel as well as a few simpler issues.
Nice watch. I have a DeVille from 66 but it was damaged over the years. Belonged to my uncle. The crown was replaced with something generic. I need to source an omega replacement.
ALL TAMIYA products are fantastic, however they are reasonably expensive for what you get. I use their ultra thin cement. But I found out thst their airbrush thinner is the exact same chemical formula. So now I buy a bottle of that( at much more volume) and add a wee bit of acetone at about 50/50 percent. Then you get a lot more. If you doubt me then please look up the SDS, Used to be called MSDS on the bottle of Tamiya extra thin, I promise it is not rocket science. Try it.
Watch looks very great, Awesome work. I’m starting off as a beginner watch hobbyist, what years did radium was used in watches? I did pick up Geiger counter.
Thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻 I think (don’t quote me) that they outlawed it in the late 60’s and moved over to tritium which technically is still radioactive, although the half life of tritium is around 18 years where as radium is around 1600 years.
Was just discussing the radium with you the other day. I have the a 1955 Seamaster that is almost the same watch but with beads of rice bracelet. What is your opinion of Alprosa watches?
👍🏽 where was this? The levels were pretty low on this one as the hands were 100% tritium. The lume plots on the dial were also very small and intact so with care its ok I believe. The older watches are the worst where they have big numbers all caked in radium etc. Plus mostly in terrible condition now all crumbing away into dust. Not a massive fan with Alprosa even though it has that Enicar connection.
Women literally used to rub it into their cheeks to give themselves a nice glow 🤗 We all encounter radiation but it’s about the dose and of course more importantly when it comes to radium don’t ingest it (or rub on cheeks). Thanks for watching

There’s just something about those old Omegas. Love the things. Someday I will be able to afford one.
They are very nice for sure. Thanks for watching
What an absolutely delightful watch. Congrats on bringing it back to life, ready for the next 50 years.
Old Omega's are definately among my favourite vintage watches! Also, proper lubrication is good advice in life in general.
Me too. Usually a joy to work on. I really love that rose gold colouring they used for them as well. Timeless.
Takk!
Thank you Francis 🙏🏼
Ive always wanted an Omega and after seeing the beauty of the internals of this one, i want one more!
Thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻
What a stunner. The cream and gold screams an gleams yo. That dial is minty and i would stare at it all day. "Do not operate heavy machinery while wearing this watch". Great video as always!
Stunning creamy dial for sure. Thanks for watching
Hey. Feel like a neighbour. 😊. So relaxing, but great to listen to. Super Freshness continues on. Wonderful demonstration.

Glad you enjoyed it Tom 👍🏽👍🏽
👍 remaining me i still want an old omega. But i usually gravitate towards vintage Longines.
Vintage Longines watches are also very nice. Another great watchmaker that survived the quartz crisis
Great video love the old movements
Thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻
nice one Matt nice movement !
Cheers Elder 💪🏻💪🏻
Omega makes a stunning movement
They really do

Cheers Andy, I’ll have a think about that as there are a few good books out there.
Fantastic job
Thank you so much 😀

A small world it is 😂 Enjoy it and you're very welcome. Best of luck with your new hobby 👍🏽👍🏽

Very fine video. Thank you.

Thanks for watching 👍🏻 It sounds like you picked up a few gems. Hopefully not too expensive sourcing parts 👍🏻👍🏻
Beautiful !
Thank you! Cheers!
Nice watch. I have a DeVille from 66 but it was damaged over the years. Belonged to my uncle. The crown was replaced with something generic. I need to source an omega replacement.
Thanks for watching. Omega crowns are not that hard to find. Try eBay for starters.
Nice work definitely going to try using the peg wood trick for the screws next time I’m fiddling. Complete novice here
Peg wood and rodico are your friends
Your skills truly amaze me 😊
Thank you very much ☺️
Well done, great video!
Thank you very much!
Love your work. Great videography and super technique. What microscope are you using?
Thanks very much.
Its an Amscope trinocular, I purchased it from Amazon, you should see them on there around the $800 area 👍🏽

What product are you exactly comparing it to with what I used? I'm a bit confused 🫤

I wonder whether a small laser cnc engraver might be the solution in putting the omega logo back on the centre of crystals? Also monograms etc.
I think it would be totally doable. It's literally just etched in on the inside. Thanks for watching 👍🏽
I’m watching the member version like eating an elephant; one bite at a time 😂😂😂. And, sometimes a man just has to do by hand what he has to 😎😎🙈
haha 3.5hours lol Good luck with that Eric 👍🏽
Very well done video! Where is your practice? Can I send you an old watch to work on for me? I live in Maryland, USA.
Thanks for watching. I'm based in The Netherlands. You can contact me via email :)
I would so love to win that watch😊
You and everyone else 😅 thanks for watching 👍🏻👍🏻
Love your channel!
Which model Amscope are you using? Are you happy with it?
Yes I am! It’s the SM-4T Amscope I believe
Was just discussing the radium with you the other day.

🔥🔥🔥🔥
Did you check for radioactivity in the movement itself after removing the dial, in case the radium paint has partially crumbled?
I did yes, nothing was picked up
I love my radium dials 😅, try not to lick them mind you
Funny to think that people used to drink radium-infused water and now we know it’s extremely hazardous in even the smallest quantities. ☢️
Women literally used to rub it into their cheeks to give themselves a nice glow 🤗
We all encounter radiation but it’s about the dose and of course more importantly when it comes to radium don’t ingest it (or rub on cheeks).
Thanks for watching
