  • Horology Biology receives a Vintage Rolex Air King watch for a service restoration. This watch dates to 1964 with the reference 1002 or is it 5500? with the Rolex 1560 movement inside. Did I make it run better than it did?

    The extended sections with the staking set and beat correction error on the Patreon videos were HUGELY helpful for me at my level. The unedited Patreon subscriber videos are a fantastic idea. Way more useful than you might think. Thanks!!!

    Riveting. Photography as usual is super fresh. Commentary nails it. Explaining the reason for doing a particular system shows experience. Not happy with Rolex? I'm sure the Rolex is happy with you. The visuals of the shock settings is just brilliant. Looking forward to the working videos.

    Your oiling skills always blow me away!.... and the way you just plonk the second hand on is insaine (I'm not bitter at all, take a breath Trev) :D
    Very nice video yet again, out of intrest do you prefer the rubber ball rather than oyster tool to open and close the case ? (I don't know what rolex was thinking personally?)

    • @HorologyBiology
      @HorologyBiology  5 месяцев назад +1

      Microscopes help with the oiling for sure 💪🏻💪🏻 I am a big fan of the rubber balls but to be clear that watch was finally tightened up with my heavy duty case back opener/closer. It came with the special Rolex dogs for it.

    Wonder what your skills would do with my grandfather's old pocket watch. Elgin, 1936- it was a gift when he graduated high school. Near as I can tell, never been serviced, though it is a bit dinged up and the dial shows its age. Doesn't run badly, about +18s/d, but I'd love to know what an old classic could really do.

    There must be a lot of man cheese on the watch. The dial is looks nice but definitely effects on the value of the watch as people mostly looking at Rolex watches as an investment. I watching a lot of video about luxury watches and what i see is in New York City’s diamond district jewelers often swapping dials on Rolexes to pimping up a little bit as it goes better if there are diamonds on the dial hands.

    • @HorologyBiology
      @HorologyBiology  5 месяцев назад +1

      There were some levels of man cheese for sure but on the man cheese of doom radar I give it a 4/10
