- This is a full compilation of my videos from January to February 2023. These are clips I've posted before but also a few that I didn't for reasons like it being backlit, sound quality and more but anyway hopefully you enjoy this winter Ontario Northland compilation.

Nice shots. Love the Norfolk Southern all by his lonesome. I used to watch them switch cars every Sundays in Porcupine at the Sulphur Dioxide plant and the Glencore mine mill.
Thanks you.
super great video sir ❤❤❤❤
Thank you!
The Ontario Northland is a fabulous railway. It still runs one mixed passenger / freight flagstop service between Cochrane and Moosonee. The 250 miles between Fraserdale and Moosonee is north of any highway. The train is called the Polar Bear Express and is normally worked by a pair of GP38-2s and a centre loco F7B unit for head end power (electric train heating).
Until the early 2010s, the ONR also used to work a passenger train, called the Northlander, between Toronto Union and Cochrane hauled by a single GP38-2 and a F7B. However, the provincial government withdrew its subsidy, forcing passengers to use the replacement bus instead. The bus takes around 15 hours, compared to the train at 12 hours. The train was also far safer than the icy roads covered in snow.
I have done both the Northlander and the Polar Bear Express.
But for even more remote wilderness, I recommend you try the Tshuietin Railroad between Sept Iles, Quebec and Schefferville, Quebec via Labrador. The freight trains operated by the Quebec North Shore & Labrador weigh in at 35,000 tons (the world's third heaviest), and the Tshuietin, themselves also operate a mixed passenger / freight flagstop train. This runs 350 miles north of any highway.
I have done this line too.
Best regards from London England.
Another breaking It friend amazing capture 👏🏼

3:28 is INCREDIBLE, very well done. Beautiful stuff, I wouldn't mind coming up here sometime, rural Canada is so pretty in the winter. This is honestly some of the coolest stuff I've seen for a while, new subscriber here.
Thank you, I’m hoping this winter I can get more pow shots but we’ll see what mother nature does.
Great gets. A "Shave and a Haircut" salute @19:30...sweet! New sub from WV.

Nice catch of the NS light engine.
Thanks, it’s actually owned by ONR just hasn’t been painted yet
@@ontario.northland.railfan thanx for the information.
What are the covered gondolas hauling?
They are hauling copper extract from various mines to the Horne smelter in Rouyn Noranda.
Good video.I notice several MRL cov.gons.Are they bringing concentrate from the US?
I’m not entirely sure as they may have been on a lease but yes there is a chance it did come from the US
I Subscribed To Your Channel, Great Video!
Thank you!
Awesome compilation! Love the all the SD75I and other classic EMD action! That P3 on ONT 1741 (NS 3535) almost sounds old cast, it sounds so good! New subscriber! By the way, where were these shots mostly taken?
Thanks! Most of these were shot in between mile 15 and 23 Kirkland Lake subdivision (Dobie, Fork Lake, Larder Lake). On a side note 1741 doesn’t have a P3 but instead has a K3H I think the reason why it sounds weird is the fact that it was -35 on that day.
What ever happened to Stat Transport their trucking division ?
Star transport
How do they unload the gondolas?? Would like to know, thanks!!.
I believe they use a machine inside the plant to tip them over. I think this is the case as they don’t have hatches at the bottom or removable sides.
I never heard of this railroad before
The Ontario Northland still runs a mixed passenger / freight train, called the Polar Bear Express, between Cochrane and Moosonee. The last 250 miles of the route, north of Fraserdale, is north any highway.
Until the early 2010s, they also used to run a passenger train, called the Northlander, between Toronto and Cochrane, but the provincial government withdrew its subsidy leaving locals to have to use the replacement bus that takes around 15 hours (the train used to take 12 hours).
Both trains use GP38-2s with F7B centre units as HEP units.
I have done both the Northlander and the Polar Bear Express.
But for even more remote wilderness, try the passenger train that runs from Sept Iles, Quebec to Schefferville, Quebec across the wilds of Labrador. That train is operated by the Tshuietin Railroad and it goes 350 miles north of any highway.
I have done that line too.

Great video. what is in the Gondola's?
Ore concentrate. Lids are to prevent powdered/granular material from blowing out
They haul copper concentrate from many places to the Horne smelter in Rouyn Noranda.
Nice trainz railway
Thanks!
Great catches! New subscriber from Bakersfield CA USA!
Thank you!
Great stuff. Love the sounds. Welding should be banned.
What kind of ore is in the gons?
They carrie copper extract for the Horne smelter in Rouyn Noranda
So what exactly are they transporting in those covered gons?
They are transporting copper extract from various mines around Canada and US. They bring it to the Horn smelter in Rouyn Noranda and the closest provider of this copper is Kidd mine in Timmins.
Clicka clicka ding ding clicka clicka ding ding
Show where they started/ where they ended.??? That would be awesome.!!!? Also what they do with them when they get there.😂❤
Don’t worry this summer when I’ll have my G2 I will definitely be doing a full video from Englehart to Rouyn-Noranda. I believe they have a machine that rotates the gondola upside down at the smelter but I’m not 100% sure.
Why does timmins not have rail service. Going into town theres a bridge but no trains
Back in the day they used to have a big yard in downtown but they removed it and now only goes up as far as south porcupine.
When you're coming in from the east on Highway 101 you cross some tracks that don't look like they've been used and sometime Superior just wondering what tracks They are? They look abandoned
Lmfao
Wow yohan that’s not nice
