@@NeddyTheNoodle is there a reason you chose your theory of us crash landing in a pod rather than the Mek we left off in? I’m kind of new to the story and it’s hard for me to follow but your videos are making it much easier to understand so thank you! But I’m really curious why you chose the pod theory over the mek theory
@@flames742 Hi Tony, thanks for the comment. The reason I chose the pod theory is that I actually didn't even think about our survivor from ARK 1 carrying over to ARK 2, strangely. This video I was mostly focused on what ARK 2's story would be like and the whole 'who are you' aspect was a bit of an afterthought! I'd love to cover that idea in a later video though, since it certainly is just as likely to be the case as the whole pod theory.
With how Santiago and how his part of the story works makes me think there will most likely be 2 modes to Ark2. A smaller story mode medium where you travel alongside Santiago to achieve some kind of goal with just yourself or you and a few friends, and a larger sandbox mode where smaller tidbits of a story are there, but less so.
This is what I was thinking as well. An optional single player story driven introduction to the game that teaches you the new mechanics and then the more traditional multi-player pvp and pve servers.
It might be a artifact collection type system to be able too get to Santiago for special quests or quests in general i.e. collect the sky lord and thyla claws etc to open quests or get to certain areas. While aslo having other systems in place i.e. random npc quest like in fallout. Open world bosses are needed though. Good content dude.
The element extractor is an unexplained, MASSIVE spine that is a part of Aberration's map, and has NO lore significance whatsoever, yet is directly connected to the portal that Santiago built. The fact that this thing is unexplained was super frustrating while we were trying to figure out which ruins to delete for the aberration survival stories (before they built the portal)
@@NeddyTheNoodle i wonder if they wanted to make the pre genesis storyline that earth had element in it all along and aberattion is an example of an element field. But once genesis came out they just let you believe it's a rollercoaster into genesis.
@@NeddyTheNoodle But If the name is element extractor, it means it is used to collect the element from the red zone and use it as energy for the portal.
dude that is so nice to hear, thank you! I thought people wouldnt like this one since i just dragged vin diesel around in paint for like 15% of it haha
Please read ark lore enthusiasts: Kind of cool thing a life suitable world WILL HAVE LIFE. So after the Colony Ship found a planet, it found aliens, humans are just plopping out of the sky onto an alien civilization. All we can hope is that their superior race is primitive, and that humans/natives can coexist...not another 'element' war....and goodness, pray this planet doesnt suffer the fate of earth (WHICH MAY STILL BE BEING TERRAFORMED BY THE ARKS, MAKING IT A NEW HOME FOR HUMANITY, BUT MAYBE THAT TAKES A LOT OF TIME?) but we can only hope an asteroid doesn't fall onto this planet containing more element. Chaos will ensue. ALSO I THINK EDMUND ROCKWELL IS ALIVE! BECAUSE THE PODS RESPAWNED SURVIVORS, EVEN HELENA MAY BE ALIVE. AND OTHERS. BECAUSE REMEMBER THE CODES THAT THE PEOPLE WERE STORED IN TO 'recreate' them to keep them in the arks, and by extention, those stored in the arks code (and made to survive in the environment) are likely in the colony ship too, like the survivor. AND IF ROCKWELL KEPT HIS IMPLANT...during his....transformation....HE WOULD KEEP HIS MEMORY...giving him a second chance, and helena, and our old island buddies, are all there too. That would be. Incredible. (It would be like respawning for us, its the same thing, and how they keep their memory. Like how we dont reset our survivors when we die)
I hope we have the hunt missions back but it would be more open and story oriented. For example there’s a mission we’re there’s a Stryder that survived the crash that malfunctioned and we have to destroy it.
they can go in a different way, with different tribe that will interact with you (they are npc). giving you quest for increase "fame" with them for get to know what it happend or get new technology that they did discover throught time. they can make this "tribes" hubs something like base where no one can really fight into. outside this, you are a stranger, you can decide to help them but in the end you decide which tribe you help or not, creating your tribes or not,... all in all it's freedom to play. you say that ark must'nt be a rpg, but sadly it's already a sort of rpg... rpg is not only about story telling it's about progression. it can be throught a story or leveling your character, equip it, face new challenge and such. what do ARK already, you gain level, unlock new technology for equip yourself, for face challenge. don't forget that you have rpg sandbox, where story can be said by npc is small hub that are sanctuary but outside this world is free to your to explore, exploit and do whatever you do. another interesting point, adding "tribes" or faction of npc, can bring life to the world. we did seen in the trailer some sort of humanoid tribal enemy, clearly not human and probably new enemy of this planet. and it can lead to some interesting stuff where you can have enemy faction that can decide to attack your camp if you attack them too much, bringing more life to the game and a sense of dangerin pve server since you will need to make your base able to survive this sort of assault. but all in all, it will depend of what they can do with the game or not. we need to wait and see.
Hear me out, what if, smiliarly to ark mobile, there was like an npc that, in lore, tries to gather the notes but also gives the player something like hints as to where the notes may be, in the form : npc accidentally finds one note, becomes intrigued, studies and makes educated guesses to places you might find them in.
lol i've played ark since beta and i still have zero clue who santiago or helena or any of the others actually were, nor could i give a shit. Ark's problem was never story related. it was mostly due to the horrible server system they used, leaving the vast majority of players at the mercy of server owners who tended to get bored with the game and quit paying the monthly bill to keep it active.
I hope it doesn’t become a story mode type of game, the freedom of going out of your way to find things and do stuff is what separates it from games like that. A game that i played like that was Days Gone, organically finding the nests and hordes and Easter eggs were my favorite parts of the game. The repetitive missions and storylines were not.
Hey guys I have a idea maybe we are the antagonist we may want to go back to the time of tech wen Santiago wants to stay primitive and we basically become rokweel.
love the vid but i hope to god ! that it has no similarity to genesis 1 or 2 for me it was so out of place for ark despite the story going in that way i know probably makes no sence but for me id rather have npc's that your not forced to interact with or something
I Just fear that ark 2 become too much of a Story game, rather than a "build your own stuff/Story and survive" game. Of course, you're absolutely right with the fact, that telling the Story through Explorer notes isnt very accessible, but for me personally that's something i absolutely love in games: Games you are able to Just play how you want and, most importantly, Set your Focus on what you want. You only want to Do pvp? Then Do so. You only want to play pve and build a lot of cool stuff? Then you can also Just Do that. And those who really wanted to get behind the Story, can also Just Do that, by either collecting and reading the notes themselves or through a bit of research online. Simply put it Just Gives you a looot of freedom in choosing how you play the game and this has become really scarce nowadays in the game Industry. Now if ark 2 abandons that System, does more of a storydriven, quest lead approach with maybe npc interactions and for example telling the Story through cutscene-exposition or something like that, this will have to be forced onto the Player (because if they're gonna put money into animating, voicing and producing that stuff they'll definetely make sure that everyone Sees it), which in turn Takes away a lot of the "play Just like you want" feel i think, because no matter if you wanna play only pvp, pve or whatever Else there is, you cant decide if you want to go After the notes or not, no, youll be forced to watch the cutscenes no matter what, youll be forced to go After the Story, no matter if you want it or not. I already wasn't a Fan of the genesis approach with Missions, forcing the Player into certain scenarios with certain play-types instead of the free Form "get through the cave your own way and get the artefact" And Just for clarification, i absolute love the ark Story, i collected all the notes myself and i will of course be hyped for how the Story continues. I Just like it more free Form, leaving the "how" fully to my Imagination instead of forcing me to Do it a certain way. Edit: Well nevermind, as always i should have Finished the vid before commenting, i Paused the Video exactly before you said the Same stuff i Just wrote, so Yeah, that's that then xd
Here's my 11-month late theory: You have a Subnautica-Esque introduction cutscene where you are injured as you crash down. You awake in a small encampment that is inhabited by other survivors, led by Santiago. He guides you through the basics of the game, and then you are able to split off from the group and play through the typical Ark experience. If they want to continue implementing the lore throughout the world in a similar way to Explorer Notes, they could have random survivor NPCs camping around that tell you a little bit about the world. It'd make sense that they are somewhat familiar with things considering they've been alone long enough to flourish. Maybe there are solo NPCs chilling next to a campfire with a certain tame, teaching you about that dino, or maybe there are larger settlements that teach you more about lore, crafting, or brewing. Lots of stuff they could do with Ark II.
beta is the most fun part of ark. the laughter is unreal we were playing ark since 2015 the ammount of bugs we encountered and the amound of map fixes we reported oh boy.
Your videos are literally why I am all about this lore. I rp on ark.... nearly all of my hours have been spent making stories in this game, so to find such a rich world just in the background of these memories I have... It was super cool, and now whenever I find them now I have a "Omg this is from that one part of his video!" moment. And I have all these fun facts to tell my rp buddies about the game cause of your shorts and stuff too. Im always plugging your videos to them XD Which is a really long way of saying you and your team are still doing freaking amazing
Personally, I'm hoping for a single-player (maybe with a Co-Op option) campaign and a completely separate multiplayer. Same map, just in the campaign there are NPCs and quests and in multiplayer it's more like ARK 1. Edit: As for the story, I hope it will revolve around the makers of Element. Maybe their civilization has collapsed, maybe Rockwell led us to them with the Genesis ship, maybe they're a bunch of primitives now and we have to pick up the pieces they left behind to find out what happened and how Element got out of control. Element always struck me as a gray goo scenario gone extremely wrong so personally I'd love a story around that. Nature defeating tech.
Or Ark 2 may have ... uh ... cutscenes. You know, that sort of thing most games use for storytelling. Ark (one) used Explorer Notes, but as you've said, they kinda missed the mark with most people not bothering to collect all of those. So yea, why not going for the one thing, that works across most games instead of that little experiment, that failed in the first game? Also talking about RPG and showing Fallout 4 as a bad example ... while sure, FO4 isn't the best of RPGs out there, it's more like an action shooter, but it still has (believe it or not) bits from an RPG, like leveling, playing a custom created character, doing quests for npcs, stuff that most RPGs do. Just saying.
You’re like the only youtuber I’ve seen so far who thinks Santiago will be an NPC. So many seem to think we will be Santiago. Edit: Also for an antagonist, it’d be cool if it happened to be Nerva. Santiago was brought back within Genesis, so why couldn’t one of those pods be carrying Nerva instead?
How Wildcard tells the story in the next game is the most important thing IMO. On the original story maps the player had to seek out the story. I loved exploring each map for pieces of the puzzle. Players who were not interested in the backstory could just enjoy the sandbox. I'm going to be 100% honest. I hated how the story was told in Genesis 1 and 2. HLN-A was the worst thing that was added in any DLC. Also, the boring missions that prevented the player from taming dino's and fighting the bosses were terrible.
One thing I do hope for Ark 2 is the gameplay isn't more of the same, as Ark's gameplay is more of a product of competing with Rust or specifically the Formula of "survive and chase supply drops" which I am sure nowadays people are slowly getting sick and tired of. The engram quality maybe fun but it is more than annoying, hopefully Ark 2 has an actual game that isn't centered around PVP, an actual single player game or ultimately, both.
I think Ark 2 will start us off as an undercover agent for Rockwell. We are tasked with infiltrating Santiago's tribe. As this tribe is very heavily involved in a huge Gallimimus race ring. We have to take them down. So we show them our race skills and become a part of the family. From there, who knows where the adventure will take us.
I hope they don't add NPC's. They did the same thing with Subnautica 2 and it massively took away from the game. In the first one you were alone, braving the depths by the skin of your teeth. In Ark you can be alone or with other friends, but there are no people there to help you, no long standing knowledge or power that you can draw from. Its up to you (and your friends) to survive how you will. Genesis was neat but ultimately ruined this concept. It stopped being a survival game and instead became a video game in a video game. Missions, NPC's, all of that takes away from what makes the game good. You are alone, surviving a harsh wilderness. And if you are playing with friends, you are alone together. Oh and HLNA was garbage. Shouldn't have been in the game. Essentially an NPC to keep you company all the time.
Wildcard, f you're listening: We NEED to have the same level of self hosted server support! I've been playing this game since Early Access in 2015 and self hosted servers is the ONLY thing that has kept me there :)
Here's hoping we get more skins for weapons, equipment, and clothing. The survivors are from around the world and from different ages, they should be crafting things that look familiar. Just look at the crazy amount of different spear styles from African tribes alone. The same goes for building pieces and architecture. Not everybody cut wood or stone the same. Also, being able to alter the environment should be included. People should be able to build cellars underground, ones that burrowing creatures could potentially breach. In this manner you could also tunnel under walls and other fortifications if you put in enough time, allowing lower-level players a chance against players with powerful Tek bases crawling with turrets. Water should also be a dynamic; damming a river with walls should raise the water level upstream, and lower the water level downstream.
It probably won't, because santiago's plans, is to take down the group of survivors using element, to stop the cruopttion from happening again in this planet, so you will be along side him in the journey and fight what's about to come. Also I think I would really not enjoy voiced journals as it does not make sense that Santiago disappears like that mabey a balanced some journals and some chatting with a pvp no zone in some village or settlement they made where the can offer quest, trade, ect: we will see. I just want ark to still be a dinosaur survival game, to feature some good lore. Also there is a chance rockwell will "RESPAWN"
I’m really hoping they add more character to the wildlife. You never see them sleeping, building a nest, guarding eggs, or even foraging for food. The carnivores just run around randomly and kill and eat everything in sight and the herbivores just walk around randomly.
Nice theory, but i would u suggest to thing about how the genesis 1 works, how u teleport between biomes, okay, now look at the Atlas(other game they test things),on the officials they split the map in parts, have huge portals in the ocean to navigate throgh tham..now my theory is they test some mecanics on the Atlas for Ark 2,of course there they introduce some wonders and other stuff,i dont play anymore that game cuz i hate official servers for the every month wipes :) ,but i belive on Atlas they test mecanics for Ark 2..i could be wrong but who know :) Anyway,u make great content, keep going.
Can the explorer notes not automatically open when you come by them? Dislike running from something and have it open up or at least place them in a safe spot. Tho they are cool to read and learn, they have almost nothing to do with gameplay. Maybe if they had something in there that also helped you out in game. Also, would like quests that would give you items but not necessarily needed to complete to move forward in the game. I don't know about placing NPC on the map as I don't want to be ambushed by people camping NPCs. Maybe you can reach them through your implant or something. Lastly could we have a limit to how much we could build? Alpha tribes end up spamming everywhere on the map and claim about 30% of the map.

@@NeddyTheNoodle ah I see. Well thank you for the amazing content I look forward to your future videos and will support as much as I can!
cautious excitement for ARK 2, they can't make it worse then the original... right?
With how Santiago and how his part of the story works makes me think there will most likely be 2 modes to Ark2. A smaller story mode medium where you travel alongside Santiago to achieve some kind of goal with just yourself or you and a few friends, and a larger sandbox mode where smaller tidbits of a story are there, but less so.
This is what I was thinking as well. An optional single player story driven introduction to the game that teaches you the new mechanics and then the more traditional multi-player pvp and pve servers.
Yeah I also believe that Ark 2 will have a story mode and multiplayer but instead of travelling alongside Santiago you play as him
It might be a artifact collection type system to be able too get to Santiago for special quests or quests in general i.e. collect the sky lord and thyla claws etc to open quests or get to certain areas. While aslo having other systems in place i.e. random npc quest like in fallout. Open world bosses are needed though. Good content dude.
Idk what an Element Extractor is
But this video is amazing and I’m sharing it with all my friends bc this game is awesome
Dude your content is always so well made, keep it up👍
dude that is so nice to hear, thank you!

I need that flower lizard as a shoulder pet.
Yeeees
As soon as you said fallout 76 I just started saying "No! No! No! Not that bad come on wild card, your not Bethesda."
I hope we have the hunt missions back but it would be more open and story oriented. For example there’s a mission we’re there’s a Stryder that survived the crash that malfunctioned and we have to destroy it.
I honestly think nerva should be the bad guy of ark 2
they can go in a different way, with different tribe that will interact with you (they are npc). giving you quest for increase "fame" with them for get to know what it happend or get new technology that they did discover throught time. they can make this "tribes" hubs something like base where no one can really fight into. outside this, you are a stranger, you can decide to help them but in the end you decide which tribe you help or not, creating your tribes or not,... all in all it's freedom to play.
you say that ark must'nt be a rpg, but sadly it's already a sort of rpg... rpg is not only about story telling it's about progression. it can be throught a story or leveling your character, equip it, face new challenge and such. what do ARK already, you gain level, unlock new technology for equip yourself, for face challenge.
don't forget that you have rpg sandbox, where story can be said by npc is small hub that are sanctuary but outside this world is free to your to explore, exploit and do whatever you do.
another interesting point, adding "tribes" or faction of npc, can bring life to the world. we did seen in the trailer some sort of humanoid tribal enemy, clearly not human and probably new enemy of this planet. and it can lead to some interesting stuff where you can have enemy faction that can decide to attack your camp if you attack them too much, bringing more life to the game and a sense of dangerin pve server since you will need to make your base able to survive this sort of assault.
but all in all, it will depend of what they can do with the game or not. we need to wait and see.
Ark devs: *watches this video*
Also ark devs: WRITE THAT DOWN WRITE THAT DOWN!!!
The antagonist of ark 2 is almost definitely going to be studio wildcard delaying the game for 3 years
lol i've played ark since beta and i still have zero clue who santiago or helena or any of the others actually were, nor could i give a shit.
We continue by explaining ourselves to Santiago
love the vid but i hope to god ! that it has no similarity to genesis 1 or 2 for me it was so out of place for ark despite the story going in that way i know probably makes no sence but for me id rather have npc's that your not forced to interact with or something
I think we are our previous character is docking at the space ring and then goes down to the planet like everyone else of the colonists
10:50 ARK in contrast, having notes quite literally sitting underwater :))))))))))

I Just fear that ark 2 become too much of a Story game, rather than a "build your own stuff/Story and survive" game.
Of course, you're absolutely right with the fact, that telling the Story through Explorer notes isnt very accessible, but for me personally that's something i absolutely love in games:
Games you are able to Just play how you want and, most importantly, Set your Focus on what you want.
I already wasn't a Fan of the genesis approach with Missions, forcing the Player into certain scenarios with certain play-types instead of the free Form "get through the cave your own way and get the artefact"
And Just for clarification, i absolute love the ark Story, i collected all the notes myself and i will of course be hyped for how the Story continues.
I agree with you. I loved the freedom that the player had on the original story maps. Genesis 1 and 2 didn't work for me at all.
@@user-db5hk4pq2f i agree but i also agree with the first guy we need more survival than story but also enough story
I love how he uses half of sand diego to show how you travel 😅
I hope in the near future the idea of ark becomes a reality
Could this be the same santiago but respawned from extinction?
Neddy you forgot to mention FaMiLy!
beta is the most fun part of ark. the laughter is unreal we were playing ark since 2015 the ammount of bugs we encountered and the amound of map fixes we reported oh boy.
Ive played hours on ark why have i not seen the cut scenes? i still consider am a noob even over 50hours of play time.
The cutscenes are only in the later DLCs for the most part
Your videos are literally why I am all about this lore. I rp on ark.... nearly all of my hours have been spent making stories in this game, so to find such a rich world just in the background of these memories I have... It was super cool, and now whenever I find them now I have a "Omg this is from that one part of his video!" moment. And I have all these fun facts to tell my rp buddies about the game cause of your shorts and stuff too. Im always plugging your videos to them XD
Which is a really long way of saying you and your team are still doing freaking amazing
Thank you kindly.
I thought a lot of the recent interest in ARK's lore was generated by the announcement of the TV show.
Edit:
Also for an antagonist, it’d be cool if it happened to be Nerva.
YES PLEASE
Rockwell: *I ALWAYS COME BACK*
FAMILY
Hahahahaha that’s hilarious
2:55 suddenly a reaper appears!
Since it having the unreal engine update, there probably some type of connection. Hopefully we can bring our Ingram records from ark1 to ark2.
ark devs be watching this BOYS take notes let’s push this game out in 2028
About subnatica I don’t know what was that pod for…for flying maybe
Would be interesting if we pick up where genesis ends with us in the exo falling to the planet
Yes! I didnt even consider that a possibility, but may in future videos :)
I’m really hoping they add more character to the wildlife. You never see them sleeping, building a nest, guarding eggs, or even foraging for food. The carnivores just run around randomly and kill and eat everything in sight and the herbivores just walk around randomly.
In the Conan game you could kill NPC's and they would just respawn. Kind of like having your cake and eating it too.
as someone who rage quittet ark 1 after like 3 weeks cause i didn't get it and thus wasted 60 bucks. I thank you for this information
