Im honestly amazed that somewhere along the way we the player didn't discover that we were a clone of a younger Rockwell. We could have had some many great interactions with our older corrupted self. Or we could have found out that everyone is infact the same person, with slight dna differences to explain both genders, that would have also been cool.
While I am sad that this is the last lore video of Ark, I am happy that you took the time to make these videos so that everyone, even those who don't play Ark, can know the story behind this amazing game. Thank you, Neddy, for doing this and thank your team for helping you along with this.

Honestly Genesis 2's ending always has me in tears.. Rockwell wasn't nearly as evil as the game would have you believe. Sure he did evil things but he too was trying to become something more than himself just like Helena. he didn't want to fade into nothingness when the time came, his final words indicate as much. if only he had gone about it in a different way.
This is incredible, thank you so much, Neddy. 💜💜💜💜💜 I'm sure I'll be sharing this video a lot... because there are so many people out there who don't like the Genesis maps, who insist they ruined the game, that they were just a cash grab and don't fit the story... and I've been saying all along, no. They DO fit. There IS lore there. And really, they are genius in how they are structured. Even from a gameplay perspecitve, besides the amazing story. There was so much amazing end game content, that so few Ark players had ever really tried. I knew people who had played Ark for years, and never did any bossfights at all. They just tamed and bred dinos and built bases. They never unlocked tek. When Gen 2 came out, it was a playground of end-game content. Me and some friends played as fresh-spawn new characters on a private Gen 2 server with no mods. But it was dizzying... Free tek suits at spawn. Tek items in drops. And yet... it was still fun. It was still scary and dangerous. Especially in Rockwell's garden.... you definitely could still die, and we did, lots of times. We learned that tek was fun too. End game stuff was also fun. And boss fights are fun. So you know what happened? We learned that end game stuff didn't "ruin the game". So next time we played on a cluster and started on another map... We wanted to do those bossfights. We WANTED to unlock Tek. Early game was still fun, but we had a goal. I wanted to zip around in a tek suit on Ragnarock, or the Island. I wanted to get get a tek bow again. This game has the longest progression of any game I've ever played... and Gen 2 helped me realize that and take advantage of it, rather than stall in mid game and stay there. I'll always love this map. 💜💜💜💜💜
Id like to think that some of the colonists on board the colony ship had something happen between their body and their mind, like maybe the simulation "pulls" their mind from the body for the simulation (future tech maybe, we're not sure how it truely works afterall) and when Rockwell infected the simulation maybe it cut the original mind from some colonists and were lost, so HNLA was able to (maybe) link our survivor's "mind" from whatever at Arat Primes hub where the link is at that we went to and "used?" and she put a copy of our minds into these "lost" colonists body's during Genesis 2? Brainstorming a different idea that can hold weight that we are "technically" the same people from the first Ark's arc of the story to the Genesis arc story.
I was only the only one of my friends that played this game and even solo is one of my favorite games of all time. Truly an amazing story and goes so much deeper than most people know.
Neddy & Co.: thank you SO much for this. This series meant a WHOLE lot to me: the early survival stories are the reason I started a story playthrough in the first place coupled with another YT'er and their series doing the same but these stories...breaking down all the major players in the lore who came before us and the events that led to us being there was just...absolute perfection. I don't think the story would have meant as much to me without the life that y'all breathed into the characters, the ARKs and our purpose as survivors in this story about salvation and perseverance against all odds. I love y'all and I can say that 100% without hesitation.
Gen 2 showed us Rockwells real reason for going down the path he took. He was afraid of death and saw "Edmundium" as his ticket to eternal life. What an amazing video though Ned. You've got the layout down to a tee. I love the lore of Ark and your portrayal of bringing it to life and explaining it all keeps me fascinated by it all. Your journeys core videos are still my favourite though. Normally with playthroughs at the halfway mark you think "ugh, come on" but all of them keep me hooked. Think the island and Abberation are my favourite maps you guys did. But keep the content coming. Whatever it is I'll be eager to watch!

I just headcanon that after the arks came down my character made her way to Arat Prime, they realized something serious was going down and she was put into the simulation because the thought of playing an entirely new person after being the same one from island --> extinction just feels wrong. Hopefully with ASA the new DLC will bridge that gap and have the story be in one cohesive piece.
This channel is severely underrated, I love ark so much, and with all the things that were portrayed through this channel, it makes me love it so much more...Getting actual chills at key moments, laughing or having fun watching the everyday life of these characters, and watching these characters develop and do things that make you think. I love watching the island, then scorched earth, then aberration, and then the explained videos give me the rest. Thanks so much Ned, giving me and many others an absolutely cool story that everyone failed to see.(and a lot more with the documentary type format, and then explanation videos and even autobiography of the characters.) Some BTS: When we teleported, myself and another member were not teleported so we were admin tp'd to the zone. It was pitch black for us both and we could only see the shadowmanes, so we are literally just following the shadowmanes in front of us. We couldn't fight the boss, so we dipped into the floor and went back to the platform where we could see.
I searched the comments just to make sure SOMEONE acknowledged the MasterController bit. My wife walked in asking why I was laughing so hard... I stopped playing ARK for a bit but jeez Ned, I am pretty sure I'm a follower for life.

This just gets me every time man Every time I see that one ending cinematic I began to tear helplessly. I do know why, but like imagine creating an ai that have conscious. To only be like you. But there where HLN-A was like not 100% helna wallker was not her. It was something else or new hlna like. What? Life is Feudal MMO? Isn't it like... Dead? Wow, I had a whole comment written about how they have previously abandoned us when it came to launching the MMO in favor of continuing the development and support of the small server version, leaving it in a desolate state. But. That game's back on the table now aswell?! I don't know how to feel about that quite yet. I'm glad they regained a moral compass in their decision making?! I am baffled. And feel it unjustified to further trash Life is Feudal until I've at least gotten a better look at what has changed about the creators and the game. However, I strongly feel like Wurm is still a better game to buy for anyone who doesn't mind abyssmal UI and steep learning curves.

It's such a coincidence that the ship didn't find a suitable planet until after the ark protocol reseeded earth. I mean an 8 - 20 year gap is really nothing when you think about how long both programs were running

Hello again Neddy! Excellent video as always! ❤❤❤ To be honest, I never was a huge fan of the Genesis saga! I believe the story should have ended with Extinction! In my own headcanon, Rockwell never left Earth! After surviving the crash landing of Aberration, he fled to a very tall and distant mountain in order to flee the element-purging protocols of the ARKs! There he waits, biding his time, building up his forces, and awaiting the moment the ARKs "finish" their mission and shut down! All this, in order to ultimately enact revenge against the heroes who defeated him on Aberration... Still, the lore of Genesis is interesting, even if the missions are annoying and sometimes buggy! But, what else is new with ARK, am I right? Also, that whole bit about the "power of Vin Diesel" is just too hilarious (and not in a good way)! Santiago 2.0 was NOT a hero; Santiago 3.0 was! But I don't work for WildCard, so what do I know? I'd love to ramble on, (I love talking about ARK) but I'm sure you're probably bored and want me to shut up so I'll conclude with this: keep up the great work and I wish you good fortune on all your life's future endeavors, both in game and out! ❤❤❤

What a coincidence that we defeated rockwell right after reaching arath prime. Imagine defeating him a day before or later. The ring would have been destroyed or rockwell would have reached arath
It was impressive that HLNA after retaking control of the genesis ship managed to pilot it away and clear enough distance before the core went critical and the entire ship lost navigation and exploded
Fantastic job once again mate, well done as always. I cannot help but think that the new story line map is going to fill the gap between the end of Extinction and how you get on the ship. I mean, there is a whole dark side of Earth just waiting to be explored. And it would be cool to see what an at least partially restored Earth would look like.
when u think about the story all of the durtuce that had happen with some of the maps was all causes of rock well but I will say during the gen 2 end cut screen it almost sad enough to make u cry

To be honest, I never was a huge fan of the Genesis saga! I believe the story should have ended with Extinction! In my own headcanon, Rockwell never left Earth! After surviving the crash landing of Aberration, he fled to a very tall and distant mountain in order to flee the element-purging protocols of the ARKs! There he waits, biding his time, building up his forces, and awaiting the moment the ARKs "finish" their mission and shut down! All this, in order to ultimately enact revenge against the heroes who defeated him on Aberration...
Still, the lore of Genesis is interesting, even if the missions are annoying and sometimes buggy! But, what else is new with ARK, am I right? Also, that whole bit about the "power of Vin Diesel" is just too hilarious (and not in a good way)! Santiago 2.0 was NOT a hero; Santiago 3.0 was! But I don't work for WildCard, so what do I know?
I'd love to ramble on, (I love talking about ARK) but I'm sure you're probably bored and want me to shut up so I'll conclude with this: keep up the great work and I wish you good fortune on all your life's future endeavors, both in game and out! ❤❤❤

It was impressive that HLNA after retaking control of the genesis ship managed to pilot it away and clear enough distance before the core went critical and the entire ship lost navigation and exploded
Fantastic job once again mate, well done as always. I cannot help but think that the new story line map is going to fill the gap between the end of Extinction and how you get on the ship. I mean, there is a whole dark side of Earth just waiting to be explored. And it would be cool to see what an at least partially restored Earth would look like.
when u think about the story all of the durtuce that had happen with some of the maps was all causes of rock well but I will say during the gen 2 end cut screen it almost sad enough to make u cry

I think it’s a different survivor in genesis to show us that we aren’t the only awake survivor
