They were constantly teasing and adding new creatures and items in the early days it was awesome. Lots of good memories. If you want a nostalgia trip go watch the old creature highlights and trailers from back in the day
I actually really like them, they’re one of my favorite creatures in the game. I like how they can hunt for me, and help me tame things like otters and compeys. They’re pretty easy to kill without losing much of anything good, just a couple bow shots and they’re down.
I remember how many updates they pushed out in early acess (i started playing not long after it came out - it was terrible optimized but i also owned a potato pc and i played like 400 hours on 20 fps or less) I was amazed how they showed in this time how a early acess game should get updated (and i wasnt the only one) Good old times!
The first creature added in after Early Access launch was actually the Spinosaurus on Jun 13th. Then 4 more creatures came between then and July 30, 2015 before the Gigantopithecus was released. The Gigantopithecus was the first creature added in that had a trailer for it. The 5 before it had no trailers to themselves.

When I moved to indiana, I live next door to a friend, and he was on my ipad once and he was on youtube, and I saw ark For the very first time as a kid, I was like, oh my goodness, what is this game like at first I thought it was on like the IPad, and I try to find it. No matter what, but I just remembered that it was on the pc at the time and honestly as a kid while watching videos of ark I was very jealous like seriously. I wanted to play that so badly. That is, until I discovered it was on the Xbox One which I did had, and I playeded and it was a lot of fun. I really still play It now. Like I loved playing this game. It was a lot of fun.It I can't believe it's been like years since I played it like I think I remember playing it around two 2016 to 2024 I know shocking, but I still play the game no matter what and I do.Enjoyed it a lot

Where for the first 10ish years everything made sense and looked like it belonged in that world, and then just went off the rails with tons of dumb looking store mounts and possibly adding things in the lore that look obnoxiously out of place in the world 😔
ARK peaked with the second TLC Update in early 2018 imo. Why? The Archology event was realy upsetting and Extincion (even tho I was giga hyped) judt ruined PvP completely. Went from playing and Watching PvP actively to PvE player, only returning sometimes but quickly realizing that the meta just wouldn't chance for the good since then. Call me a hater or what ever, but as someone who startes in 2015 and had been playing for 3 years at this point, it was just giga sad to see how since became. For PvE is was nice tho I guess?
