    I agree with comments below, you may drive the thetas with 500$ components, but don’t expect such an approach to allow fair judgment. BTW: Not sure whats your source actually.
    With regard to fatigue you mention, other than speakers of benign to recessed treble (kef r3?, the buchards s400), these ones are quite transparent and extremely communicative but not overly bright (many reviewers confirm that), i.e. they exhibit any rubbish upstream. (Made me discover & fix some flaws in my system as well).
    Also, not reporting about their remarkable ability (even for the price!) of communicating micro & macro dynamics, PRaT, not even when powered by the SuperNait 3 (i run an xs 1st gen), nor their stunning ability to effortlessly playing quite loud, hints at some issues in system matching, perhaps lack of run in time, quality of accessories (from the wall socket onward, e.g. power cables, amp, source, distributor, interconnects, LS cables..) which may not be where it should be, so, in other words, getting that fixed might enable you to rediscover the thetas’ full potential.
    Talking of ‘full potential’: reviewers of a German audio magazine ran the Thetas for a while with some 20k Pass Amps, and were mesmerized by their ability to seamlessly fit in and transport the speed, heft & articulation of such quality components upstream. I wish i could provide that to mine as well ;))

    Great review, but using pre-out of Denon AVR is not great idea :) This Triangle deserve much more better amplification. We will be waiting for Hegel 360 and Triangle Theta review..

      fuvat ya I know haha, but I did listen to them with Naim supernait 3. It did sound better, but doesn’t change the sound character much, so I didn’t point out. Maybe I have too many triangle in a row lol. But thanks for commenting, i love to chat, that why I ask people feel free to comment, and create a small little community;);)

    I had before KEF Q and R series and they are produce aluminium sound to my ears, aluminium midrange like funel. I sild all KEF speakers. Now i have Comete EZ and they are much better sounding speakers to my ears.

      I absolutely LOVE the Comete speakers, I got those bookshelves late last year and imo they pair better with Rotel, IOTAVX, Cambridge and Advance Paris than the Aria 906, Elac UBR62, Fyne Audio F501 and Kef Q750/150. I could put them in any system and be happy.
      I just ordered these Thetas, I'm hoping the experience is the same.

    First of all, thank you very much for your video. You are filling a gap by reviewing these speakers, great job! I have a Hegel 190 and I am undecided between the Thetas and the R3s. Those are the two best options available in my country. R1s are too expensive and I find the B&W too bright. There are no listening rooms to audition these 2, they have to be bought online. I like the organic realistic sound and the lush voices. I guess my question is, as the Thetas cost two times the cost of the R3s here, is the cost difference justified judging only the sound quality?

    • @skysreviewdesk
      @skysreviewdesk  4 года назад +1

      Virgilio Moreira In my opinion the cost difference doesn’t really justify between the Comete and Theta, but it’s hard to say between the Theta and R3, cause they sound really different, for me I like the R3 sounding more. Since you have the Hegel 190, their amplifier usually aim to neutral, balance, clean sound, so I assume you like those kind of sound. And Since you think B&W is too bright for you, I would think the R3s may suite you more. Cause In my opinion, the Theta is about the same brightness or might be more than some B&W.

      Virgilio Moreira “Z Review” on youtube has also done a review on the Thetas, the R3 and many others, including elaborate recording of speaker sound with quality microphones. The gist is, the Thetas beat everything he has tested before - including the R3s. His words. Note room, components upstream the speakers, music, and personal preference in sound and music .. will have big influence on speaker preference. That is true also for youtube reviewers;)

    Hi, thanks for this review. It was very informative, especially the discussion on imaging. I agree that the Comete is a better buy for most people. It's on my shortlist along with the R3 and I can't decide between them!
    I really like the appearance of both speakers. I suspect the Comete would be fatiguing after a while. It would sound great at first but then the high-energy tweeter would start to sound annoying. I think the R3 would be a better bet for me. I've seen some review comments that the R3 and R5 are a bit dull and uninvolving, but I prefer a more balanced sound with good natural bass, so I would probably disagree that they are dull. What do you think?

    • @skysreviewdesk
      @skysreviewdesk  4 года назад +1

      Tony Magill in my opinion, I don’t think the R3 is dull and uninvolving, ya they are really neutral, I think the reason why some people think they are dull could be they judged them maybe in 4-5 songs, cause I found that really interesting to get to know, some songs recorded in different locations than the other. The next review up gonna be the R3, I will talk more details in the video. I will try to have it done this week and upload it. Hopefully you can wait for it, so it can help you for deciding which to buy. But in my opinion R3 is a really good buy.

      @@skysreviewdesk thanks for this, and I'll certainly wait for your review. The only really negative review on the R3 I've seen was from Z Reviews on RUclips, but he contradicted himself a lot so I don't really respect what he was saying. For instance, he didn't like the R3 because he said it was so big, yet he praised the Comete for being beautiful, but they're both the same width and the R3 is only a fraction taller and deeper.

    • @UKTonyMagill
      @UKTonyMagill 4 года назад +2

      By the way, I haven't totally ruled out the Comete yet, especially as it's £300 cheaper than the R3 in the UK. I've seen the R3 being criticised for being too bright but not the Comete, despite that having a horned tweeter. I'll try and demo both speakers.

  • @bunc7406
    @bunc7406 4 года назад +1

    Man these speakers are beautiful. Great video Sky! Between the 3 Triangles which one has most the bass? The price between the 3 speakers is big.. I love the sound of the Bro3.. but not sure if Comete is worth it cause I'm afraid the horn tweeter might be too bright.

    • @UKTonyMagill
      @UKTonyMagill 4 года назад

      That's what is putting me off the Comete too and I think I would prefer a slightly more rolled off top end, with more mid range and upper bass emphasis. To me that gives the music more body.

    • @skysreviewdesk
      @skysreviewdesk  4 года назад

      Bun C for the bass, I really think they are about the same, since all 3 are using paper woofer, the only benefit for the theta is that they 4 binding post, so user get to play around the sound a little bit more, but again you can always make the tweeter less bright from changing matching different gear. Will you be able to go to a store to listen to Comete first?

    • @bunc7406
      @bunc7406 4 года назад

      @@skysreviewdesk Sadly no.. Triangles are rare to begin with.. also with everything closed due to the pandemic. The store I can order from charges 15% restocking fee and I'd have to pay return shipping.. Wish more companies were like Buchardt. To your ears Sky.. do you find the Comete brighter than Bro3?

    You mentioned that to you the flagship Triangle speaker (Magellan Duetto) has a different sound from the thetas, could you elaborate on that? I’m torn between R3, Elac Vela, and Triangle Theta / Duetto for a Hegel system.

    • @skysreviewdesk
      @skysreviewdesk  4 года назад +1

      Mike Stratton yes, when I listen their flagship, I was at the store, and the only one they have at that time was the tower, the sound was really relaxing, lay back, and at the mean time, have every detail, nothing missing. It’s like buchardt s400 with more pronounced details. If compare to the kef Reference, the kef is more nurtural sounding to me, I would say about same sound signature to R3. But more refined on the top-end. BTW the shop was using Naim to pair with the Triangle flagship.
