I’m driving my KEF R3’s with the Rotel RA 1592 integrated amplifier rated at 200 watt per channel. Very pleased with the combination.

I have used that upper and lower red and black trick for years. It usually sounds better than the normal way.
Good review. But you don’t need the music playing under your speaking.
Would you still use external jumper cables or the internal links?
I got the same white pair in my local bestbuy for $1200 open box. I really love the the way it sounded. I used to have the bowers 606 and for me it sounded too bright. But for some reason my wife loves the way bowers sounded and my new R3 are just ok. Lol
I love the look but a little rich for my pockets. Settled for SVS ultra in piano white.
Would Cambridge audio cxa81 perform well with r3? I want to biwire r3 with cxa81. Would biwire need more power?
It’s rated 80w per channel at 8 ohms with biwiring you change to 4 ohms and will output 120w - it’s ok they can take higher power though

Look at the reviews before you jump in, and especially-listen. There are a lot of comments that the r3 are very analytical and not as lively as the Ls50. You may or may not consider them an upgrade.
have the ls50 and just bought the r3...forget the ls50...day and night ...so much bass and they can play loud as you wish...ls50 cannot play too loud they will distort easy and the bass will saturate
What do you recommend as the minimum distance the R3 needs from the front wall ?
U mean from the port to the wall right ? I had mine in 2.3ft, from the back port to wall, and I also put some foam on the wall too.
I would say, in my taste, minimum distance about 1ft, the distance is more like taste, depending how you like the bass sound.
Thank you for your binding post comments. Red on top binding post and black on bottom post balances the speakers correctly.. finally hearing how refined this speaker is... why doesn’t Kef have this info on their wed site?
John Wayne you’re welcome, glad that the video helped you. I think kef were open for their customers play around to find their favorite sound, not everyone likes the balance sound
If you put red on top and Black bottom is it then necessary to turn the knobs, or just leave Them in normal position. Right now i just use the bottom posts.

Good review. I'd like to get these speakers but I wonder if my amplifier is powerful enough. It's the Marantz NR1200 receiver, 75w at 8 ohms but no 4 ohm rating. It has preouts, so perhaps I should get a power amp to go with it?
Best option will be preout to external amp If you want to hear the real R3 sound, if you don’t have it yet, you can use the NR1200 first, you will still get a pretty decent sound out of it
