Feta's DIY Backyard Cabana: Pampered Pup Paradise!
Looking to spoil your furry friend? We built Feta, our dog, a custom cabana to relax in the Texas sunshine. It's easy to make and uses simple materials!
Here's what we did:
🐕 Prepped the pallet: We cut the ends for a clean look and added scrap wood for reinforcement.
🐕 Built the frame: We used 1x4s to create angled legs and secured them to the pallet.
🐕 Added details: Cedar fence pickets finished the front and back, and side braces provided extra stability.
🐕 Made a slat roof: We used 1x4s again, ensuring even spacing with a spacer board.
🐕 Stained and painted: We protected the wood with stain and used leftover paint for a pop of color.
🐕 Comfy touches: Feta's new digs got a comfy bed to match our outdoor decor.
Bonus tip! We used Wonderside's flea and tick spray to keep Feta safe while she enjoys her cabana. It's plant-powered, safe for pets, and repels fleas, ticks, and mosquitos! You can find Wonderside at PetSmart or online.

Too bad you didn't make the roof solid bc then it would've been water proof & the dog bed wouldn't get ruined when it rains... otherwise nice!

Would be nice with one of those wave shaped aluminum or plastic pieces painted in the green or even a green and white canvas stretched on top with the front part hanging a little over the front like a patio umbrella as the roof to give it even more of a cabana feel!

Rats can nest underneath. We built something like this and had a huge problem with field mice.
Haha, MY dogs would love the sheer entertainment of rats or mice TRYING to hunker down. 😂 I dont think the cabana would last long. 😂 I literally can vision it! But just an idea, rotate its location every week.

So great! And cute! I’d have liked to see the back side slats also painted in the green like the base.
I sent this to my niece who lives in Wyoming so I think it would be better to make the roof solid and also her normal night temperatures run around 58 degrees even in July. Her dogs stay in the house but they have a backyard so for the hot sun, the dogs can get sunburn because of the wind and low humidity and bright sun.
