Generaly, any airfield would be build by building crew with suplied building resources and they would leave for other projects afterwards. If it was more of temporary/frontline airfield, it would be Engineers job to build, where local resources would be used way more, depending on how stable the logistic and suply would be in the area. Scavenging for food is actualy on the more acurate side of things, since its military base it would be receiving regulary suplies, but lot of veterans talk about how they used their off time or free days to go hunting for food around their bases, as military kitchen isn't exactly known for tasty food.
See that's actually kind of what I was thinking. With rationing and whatnot, it wasn't really a stretch of belief for me that some extra scavenging would've been off the table

Wanting to support friend by watching video, while also wanting to play the demo that's already downloaded. This game looks really cool, and the art style is fantastic :D
This looks interesting, I am just not sure it will have loads of longevity. Maybe if those missions ramp up, and cause interesting new things to unlock or happen.
Honestly the missions + base management could get insane in terms of gameplay loop. I can absolutely see myself losing a weekend to this game when it's a bit further along in development.

The map was actually pretty big, I reckon you could build a network of runways and hangers. You COULD use the one runway and upgrade it to different tiers and surfaces, or you could probably build others as well
