There's absolutely nothing stopping any female player from joining the normal tournaments, but they choose not to because they likely cannot compete with the best players at the moment. As with all sports, Female tournaments were not, and are not, held because esports has male and female divisions, but because organisers want to give the females, who are not at the same skill level, a chance to compete and improve their skills. BBC and the CNN Film team could have taken a completely different angle on this, showing how much effort and capital has been invested in allowing some females to play in a professional setting for reasonable sums of money, despite their actual skill. Instead, they choose to demonise the industry and claim that they are in some way being ostracised from the gaming community and left to suffer.
That's definitely an interesting point of view I haven't heard of before. I think the point BBC is trying to make, though, is that despite their skill or competence, there still isn't aren't that many women in the professional gaming industry.
And why is that you think? It's because the ones who are the top players today, are the one basement crawling loser guys who did NOTHING ELSE but to play video games when they where 10 years and up. Since in general most of girls joined the gaming scene later than most guys, their skill level is not even close to the ones who's been playing non stop since they've been 10. Cheers
In general, yeah. The majority of the PC gamers are also male. A great event that happened in the Dota 2 professional scene recently was that a female player from China, Axx, joined a roster of one of the top Chinese teams with 4 males. I think it proves that the only discriminator is skill.
Exactly. And just because you happen to be a girl doesnt mean you dont have skill, but since skill is acquired over time and guys in general have been playing games for a longer time, its no wonder the top roster are filled with men.
alright, but just because you are good enough, can you simply join a team, do you think these female get many offers? no because of stereotypes from those who are forming teams. they have this unconscious thought that a woman is going to be a worse gamer than a man
... yeah they're not counted as the world's top players because they're not the world's top players. The standard is just lower in the female scene right now.
"If your issue is not being able to play on the main stage like the "male" teams, then join the main tournament; no one is stopping you. If you have a problem with the female tournament prize pot being lower than the main tournament, then join the main tournament; (again) no one is stopping you. There is the growing misconception that CS is divided by gender. Tournaments are not divided by male and female, and they have never been. In fact, females are given the privilege to choose which of the two tournaments they would rather participate in (double-standard? I think so). Guess which option of the two is traditionally favored... The documentary claims they want equality, claims they want to compete with everyone else just like everyone else, yet these female players choose to separate themselves from the scene by playing on female teams in female tournaments over open tournaments/leagues. For what reasons? One excuse is that female players and teams need a sanctuary that keeps them away from harassment and sexist behavior, yet internet prejudices have no boundaries regarding race, sex, skill, or sexual orientation. Others claim that hosting these female tournaments are to increase the female demographic of the game. Whether the game is 90% male or 10% female, or 50% male and 50% female, balanced demographics does not necessarily mean equality or lead to equal treatment because you are trying to increase the # of females for its sake rather than solving the real issues at hand. Stats are just a number, the people themselves (male & especially female) are the problem here. Since 2003, ESWC has been hosting female tournaments, and in those 11 years, nothing has changed. Viewers still see several of the same faces STILL competing in these tournaments year after year, and the vast majority of female players begin and end their career in these tournaments. When will it ever lead to integration? Female tournaments are not the answer, and it is the female players attitudes that must change. They are the ones that decide whether they want to play in the same leagues and tournaments as everyone else, and they are the ones that decide how much effort they truly want to invest in the game; (again) no one is stopping them. Why is the legitimacy of female esports always being questioned? It's because female tournaments employ gender, rather than skill, as a prerequisite for participation. When you bar entry to males in a male-dominated competitive scene, the legitimacy of competition within the female scene has a right to be questioned (just as an amateur league would, or even a local tournament simply because they do not feature the top-ranked competitors). Until players within the female scene prove otherwise, their skill (just like any player in the scene who is new or has yet to prove themselves) will always be questioned. There also seems to be a growing trend that closely resembles affirmative action, and it involves inviting female teams to play in tournaments of high stature (such as Hitbox Arena Championship and Fragbite Masters), rather than letting them qualify on their own accord. Do not buy into whatever “altruistic” reasons the tournament organizers use to justify this action (e.g. to integrate the “male” and female scene)-it’s all a marketing ploy. Why should it take an invite to get a female team competing against other non-female teams in leagues and tournaments? It shouldn't. The female players themselves are responsible for what tournaments/leagues they choose to sign up or qualify for, and if they deserve a spot or a title, they will earn it just like any other team would and has done in the past. This only serves as a slap in the face to other teams who have put in the effort and would have qualified over the invited female teams, but weren’t simply because they were male. I'll end with this, If you are a female player that is looking for a pat on the back for your efforts (despite not being able to compete among the best), then female tournaments are for you. If your only goal is to have fun and play with other girls, then by all means have fun. However, do not expect any real respect in the competitive scene because you are segregating yourself from the main competitive community. If you are a female player that takes criticism and failure appropriately, will continue to be motivated to play in open leagues/tournaments to gain the necessary experiences (despite not winning, or receiving prize money initially because your rather not take the easy route and exploit your gender), and genuinely wants to be the best among the best at all costs, then carry on in your efforts, because that attitude will make you a better player than any female tournament could ever produce." -Masq_ female pro player
So what? ALL of the major youtubers, gamers, and vloggers ALL get massive amounts of hate and trolls directed at them every single day. The top men in the buisness, believe it or not, get far far more hate then these women do, even though its unfair to compare ones misery to anothers. Its the atmosphere in general, not the men in general, the BUSINESS in general.
I get hate private messages to me almost every single time I play online. If you are good you will, it's just a fact. Oh they also talk about my body too and I don't cry. Accusing me of being fat and having a small dick lol.
I've been a female gamer for over 25 years and never felt judged? It's normal for my family, friends, co workers. Since when has this been an issue? From the Bimbo "gamers" who get their boobs out on twitch? Cause for as long as I can remember.... gaming has been equal for males and females 🤔
why dont they compete in unisex tuornaments i dont get it? there isnt any policy against it... Is it because they would get steamrolled and never reach the money placements?
You need to understand something, just the fact that there's a female league is wrong. There's no differences between men and women in esport. So, when people are promoting female tournaments with prize pools and, their skills doesn't match top csgo players, it makes people jealous. I mean, if you really want to be equal, lets play in the same league and prove us you can be worth of those prize money.......i'm not sexist, but if you get those advantages for being a girl, you can't complain about people saying it is a side game. Though, those comments about rape are just wrong, period.
EricJ there are differences, they are worse at the game, that is why they get paid less, this female league is only there because they don't want to call it the enthusiast league. They're just not as good as male players, done.
@Beans and @BBC News we've had a whole "season" of greatest black people (films etc) will there be a "greatest WHITE" people season too? (for the same reasons outlined above)
The reason the money is different is because these women in the video are playing in the "Womens League" where all the Men (Some women) are playing in the normal league where the big money is but most men team win the tournaments. Also they are calling it sexist but there is no "Male League" and males get harassed online also.
Of course the female gamers act as the victims, but have they stopped and considered the fact that the only reason they are relevant and can make money out of the game is because they are in fact females. If these females had the same talent but were males instead they wouldn't even be considered semi-pro, let alone be able to make a living out of the game. This has been proven several times when they've been put up against low-level male teams who aren't even making a dollar playing the game. These females are being treated differently due to what gender they were born with and while male teams are practising hard to get to a level of making some income these girls can just continue to play their low-level CS and still make a great living out of it and yet you hear them express their hardships with "sexism" and "inequality" in the scene, makes me sick..
Yeah I watched that video. If you want genuine news and insight about gaming community, better go to thorin's videos instead of this fake news channel.
''Female gamers feel they are not taken seriously'' There is no such thing as ''male tournament'', so if they want to be taken seriously, get better and attend to real tournaments. The real fact is they are just way less good than male professionals in the sport.
This is very misleading BBC 1. No professional gaming tournaments are closed off, anyone can join 2. Females are not included in the top players because they aren't top players, it is not anyones fault that males have the top spots in esports. 3. The graphics showing the "pay gap" is very misleading, because more males compete, so more males win, very simple 4. Women getting harrassed online is not okay, but keep in mind that literally everyone gets harrassed online, that is a part of using the internet, and it is unfair to pretend that there is no mute or block buttons Ive seen other BBC videos addressing esports, and you need to stop pushing an unreasonable agenda on an industry that you clearly know nothing about.
they should be glad that they made female only tournaments possible. I see myself on the same skill as missharvey and in the male scene I am kinda far away from being a pro. every person who has knowledge of the cs:go scene knows that team secret would probably be a t3 team if they would play on the normal scene. fyi. These big tournaments aren't male only so team secret could actually try to qualify for it but I think they know they wouldn't stand a chance. Juliano is the only female person who could actually play in a t2 or even a t1 team.
Exactly, as hard as it is to swallow, women are not as good as men at things that make you a good competitive fps gamer. Just compare reaction times between olympic level athletes - men are consistently 15-20 ms quicker than women. Men have better macro spatial awareness and lots of other things. I'm not saying that men are better overall, cause women are better than men in various other areas. Just not when it comes to things that make you a good competitive player.
in general yes, but i think if there were as many woman csgo players as there are men, i dont think there would be much of a gap between the top male and female players. it all comes down to numbers and men far outnumber women in csgo.
Well team secret with juliano went into an open tournament and lost every single game against even t3 teams so they're not even on a level of t3 teams. Lost to teams which aren't even making a single dollar just because they're males.
4:30 "I wish there were no gap between male and female earnings" -but there is, because it's mostly men that play videogames. Nothing to do with discrimination. Females CHOOSE not to play video games, generally speaking.
***** The environment being that most gamers are MALE? Who cares.. This is such a non-story. #1stWorldProblems Why don't you feminists go to Saudi-Arabia and campaign for "womens rights" there, where a female is not even allowed to travel without begging a male guardians permission first.
55 % of all games played are by women 13 % of FPS shooters are played by women 2,35 of all womens play more than 10 Hours a week 0,078 of all womens Dream about being a Pro Csgo player 0,00023 of womens are Pro players In the main league 0,000045 Can make a Living of it 0 % of womens Can make a Living without geting sponsored by dvs. Sponsors beacuse of there gender..
Julia Kiran should just join the main league. she's actually good enough to play at those levels. Nothing really stopping her. she's not the best player or anything but she's better than quite a majority of male pros.
First up, this isnt a comment from be being triggered or anything. But she is honestly kinda shitty (for being a pro). She is a good player and all that but not for being a pro
She is far worse than the majority of male pros and it has been proven when she's been put up against even low-level male teams. In the male scene she would be considered a tier 3-4 player, the top pros are around tier 1-2. She does not have what it takes to make a living playing in the male scene since that level is miles above the female one.
Cara Diann no she’s not, if she goes in, it’s like putting John cena in a wwe match with a make a wish foundation kid wtf do u think is going to happen
In my many years of gaming I've seen more instances of where if a gamer announces they are female they get all these males sucking up to them and offering to help them. So in retrospect most actually get it easier. I'm not even joking. If you tell a male community you are female in games like WOW etc. Prepare to get showered with offers of help and gifts. Another thing I would like to touch on is that everyone experiences some online trolling and even bullying. No matter your gender or ethnicity. I see more males get bullied if anything. And sometimes it is female gamers doing the bullying. Ironic. This news station seems biaised in that they do not explain the whole picture and only select report news all the while cutting out context that will not help their political ideals.
I like how they dont mention that the "male" leugue is also the main league where females can also join if theyre skilled enough and have the chance to win if better than the other teams, plus everyone gets hate on the internet dont think your special just becouse youre a girl and there are people sending hate comments.
there isn't anything that is in the way of them, i think it is mostly just that woman tend to play role-playing games and puzzle games whilst the male gender mainly plays action and first person shooter games, the fact that not one woman was nominated doesn't mean that this is sexist its just that there are more male gamers in esports so the chance that a man will be picked is greater than a female
They are complaining about every possible thing that men deal with aswell. You need to climb up the ranks to be a top contender, and to be apart of the biggest tournaments, both as male or female. You need to ignore all the haters, assault or death threats, people calling you bad, as a male or as a female. Stop blaming it on the opposite sex. Everyone needs to qualify for big tournaments, no one is stopping you from trying, but you won't be able to do that if you lose even to tier 2-3-4 teams like Alternate, Epsilon or LGR in a convincing fashion. Also the prizepool bullshit is ridiculous, that's from all games not just CS, specificly from DOTA, which of my knowledge has no competitive females in it. You expect to receive the same amount of money as the top pro teams ? Get out of main/premier level then first. TY
I love this (sarcastically speaking). Hey I'm a guy and when I'm online playing games like csgo and LoL, I get harassed too, people make threats about rape as well, and I don't see a news article reporting that (Probably because I'm a guy btw) but if I was a girl and I said I was being harassed the whole BBC would be on top of me the next day. (You see the difference there? Guys are being treated worst then girls in a moral sense. If you see a guy getting beat up by a girl on the street, I doubt anyone would help, but if you see a GIRL getting beat up by a guy on the street, then every other person on the street would be literally on top of you before you can get your second punch in) All of these BBC news bashing on esports community is unjustified, the professional females in the gaming world are just not good enough to be taken seriously, if they just got better at the games than they would be taken more seriously. Anyways I rant alot. (BBC is actually stupid, INFORMING UNEDUCATED PEOPLE FALSE INFORMATION IS ALL BBC KNOWS HOW TO DO) Maybe if they would think before publishing an article they would have a better reputation. Welp, I guess BBC is just a massive pile of ******************************************************. Ok I'm done.
I’m sorry, but if you were good or got good that people would respect you. If you are getting judged, it is probably because you are not performing at a level that is not on par for the title “Professional” level. Look at all of the harassment that bad teams get, it’s not because of their sex, but because of their skill. It boils down to “You cannot earn respect if you do not show up with the skills to demand it.”
Bottom line is: Don't be bad at the game. If the players in whatever game it is take the game seriously you will get insulted if you suck at the game. Female gamers are usually worse than their male counterparts. Being insulted because of your looks is another women's issue entirely.
Why did I see this video and immediately know this was going to be some why are there no top female games in esports BS. They're not as good, period. I don't know why considering it should be a gender neutral activity...
Everyone gets abuse online, men, women, black, white, asian.... thats kinda a big part of the internet... If anyone in this comment section can honestly say they've never had a death threat in a game then you probably arent really a gamer...
The BBC makes this out to be a sexist issue with the small amount of woman playing. It’s not a sex issue, it’s a interest issue. In my 953 hours of CSGO, I played with 1 girl. The thing is most girls don’t want to play CS.
2:07 juliano didn’t compete in any of the biggest tournaments those have prize pools of several hundred thousand if not million dollar usd she only won twenty something thousand dollars
If I do my best to get good at twerking and someone tells me "that's pretty good for a guy" I'm not going to take this as a back-handed comment. Players in CS:GO don't respect people who are highly ranked at the game, if all the top players in the game were female they would get all the respect.
In almost every game I play me or someone gets the exact same comments and trash talk. The only difference here is the people who can take it and the people who let it stop them.
one thing that can be done to prove a point and to close the esports pay gap debate is have the male and female teams play each other. if the male team wins over the female team, no one can say anything anymore about how esports is a sexist arena. if the female teams wins, they prove their point that esports is indeed a sexist arena and that they deserve the same pay as the best male team. until both sides go head to head competitively no one can claim anything to be absolute.
I still think the main cause of delayed female gamers is the result of late evolution. Women born 1990 and after embrace video games much better than women born before that. None of the women(ages 35 and up) I’ve dated over the last 10 years have owned a gaming console/PC and MOBILE GAMES DO NOT COUNT. Usually if a woman born before 1990 has a group of female friends/family members that don’t own game systems they realize they cant bring up gaming around the other women because it will lead to a dead end conversation and criticisms. However women born after 1990 for the most part fully accept gaming systems and do a better job socializing and connecting with others about it. My nieces all owned X-boxes and PS4’s and they’re now in their early 20’s playing games with their friends and boy friends. My Gen-X peer female family members would never buy a gaming system for themselves, also a few did buy the Wii because of Wii-Fit back in the 2000’s, but that’s it.
Sexism isn’t as big of a deal in eSports as some people make it out to be, yes there are people who may not take females seriously but sometimes there is no need to push the blame onto every male in the world. A majority of gamers happen to be boys and that’s a fact. 2 examples are: Overwatch League 2018 Stage 3, Korean offtank player Geguri was introduced to the Shanghai Dragons and she received nothing but support from both males and females. Overwatch World Cup 2016, Heykatie played for the Australian team and again received nothing but support. Females are more than welcome to play in professional esports teams. And showing a clip where some girls are cheerleading and making the players look like pervs is really unnecessary. The media seems to twist and turn their content just so that they can make a situation seem a lot worse than it really is. A lot of the time it makes the situation worse in itself. If females would like to play in professional teams they have to put the same level of dedication into eSports as everyone else, when they do that they have become eligible to become a professional gamer. Men and women are the same, the difference between people are the ones who make a big deal out of things and the ones who don’t.
Listen. I agree with what many of you are saying. But due to the toxicity found in online environments i believe it is essential to promote these all women tournaments the same way we promote women soccer and men soccer. Eventually when the toxicity does down we can create and begin to unite them again. Many players in the esports industry fail to differientiate between the reactions and proclivities of men and women. There is a difference and it must be taken into analysis.
Best way to end cyber bullying: Look away from the comments you get and focus on the positive ones. Ever watched C9 play CSGO? THEY LITERALLY STARTED FROM THE BOTTOM, CAME CLOSE TO WINNING ABOUT 4 TIMES AT MULTIPLE ESLs AND SCREWED UP LAST MINUTE. SURE. WAMEN ARE OPRESSED HERE BEC THEY ARE THIN SKINNED.
Well, I play a lot of CS, so just let me say my opinion: 1. Every time a female player joins a lobby, it gets so much less toxic and everybody is nice. 2. So called „harassment“ is common in online games. It's a completely normal behaviour. If you can't handle it, then mute the guy who complains or just switch lobby. 3. You can't compare the earnings between male and female teams. They don't get payed because of their gender, they get payed because of winning. And female players are often less skilled than males, because of their slower reaction time. 4. Also, most of the players are male, what makes a comparison even more difficult. That lays in the overall human nature, in which men are more competitive than women and so enjoy games like CS more. So, if there is only a very small number of women playing this game, and if female skill naturally is lower, it's a logic conclusion that there are less female pro players/teams. Thanks for reading.
Was this girl told to say on camera that she wished that girl teams had the same rewards as boy teams? Why would they give out so much money on the girls when at the end of the day, not enough people are going to watch them play to make the reward worth while?
as off points every girl who ever joins your team in csgo is treated way better by ransoms than any guy, men playing with men is 1000x more toxic and anyone who actually plays the games instead of reporting knows that also there was a match a while ago where a tier 1 female team played a tier 3 male team and lost 16-1 even in everyday cs like Esea you can watch male pros stomp female teams it's just a skill thing purely not gender
true from what i have observed from gaming over the years is that the team is generally much more soft , less rude and less toxic on a female then male .
This really pisses me off. Women are kicking off about how men won't accept them and they want everything equal then they start with this crap. If men had a male only gaming tournament there would be outrage! I give up!
The regular tournament is open to all genders but since girls can't compete they made a league of their own just for girls. So of course they earn less, because it's a parallel league. If they could compete in the regular (which is NOT only for male players) they would earn the same. Stop complaining and "GIT GUD"
"you need strong stubborn woman to compete" nope you just need to be good. Dont know if missharvey actually said that or if they twisted her words like julia said they did
Shame, cause id like to see Juliano play in the main stages but thats up to them to do that. She is my fave player (not just FE league, point blank). but i do agree with some people. if you wanna play in the Big matches, what is stopping ya'll? but best of luck to you getting there =) i cant wait & hope to see it =)
Women have slower reaction times compared to men. It isn't by much but in gaming Reaction Time is everything (depending on the game of couse, mainly First Action shooters). This is why players retire in their 20s/30s due to the fact that reaction times start to increase (get worse) after the age of 20. So they're at a disadvantage and can't compete with the men. The reason for having a different tournament is the same as the situation in the Olympics. The BBC would have known all that I just said but ignored it because it's "sexist" that women, on average, are slower than men.
there is for sure a difference between woman and men in csgo. did you ever seen the show match against team secret and ex Titan? Titan rekt them, because there is a huge skillcap between these teams
Theres no sexism in any tournament in cs go since there are NO male tournaments, yes BBC and CNN you heard that right,in the past there have only been 1 female team competing and they have been easily crushed since male gamers are simply dominant in skill right now,but my guess is as good as yours and there will be a female stewie or female olof but because females dont really like playing strategic fps games,we cant discover them
thers no hating female players in csgo community, they can freely join the competition but they cant keep up cuz men play games better.Julia is one of the best female csgo players but i have seen olofmaster who isnt the best in the community aswell beat julia easlily
Getting trolled is universal, block and report. But the pay gap is fake news, it's not sexism, if you want to make the same as some men get to their level, to abitarily change wage just over gender is sexist. There has to be demand for players. Just keep playing.
From what I see in the video, it is BBC News that is sexist. Firstly, there is no "Girl gamer", only gamer, if there was a "Girl gamer", then there should be a "Boy gamer" no? So my first point, the term "gamer" is unisex. Second, the point of more male to female players. E-sports is not sexist because more men decide to become professionals, it's almost like BBC is trying to say "We need more women in E-sports, but we want them to have free choice, so our only option is to stop men from participating" which I am making it sound very bad but, that is what they are trying to do anyway... Third, the cleavage and sexual harassment. A bit of this kind of stems off the old way of thinking (the bad way), but most comes from the fact that many female twitch streamers show their cleavage and "accidental" nudity, which lots of viewers like, so many of those viewers try to demand the same from pro players who want to win competitions. (Btw twitch is pretty biased towards women, which is sexist, but we don't see BBC or anyone else doing anything, which in itself is also pretty biased) yes I have too much free time :3 EDIT: The fourth thing, the earnings thing, the reason for bigger earnings is the competition in the male side pf the spectrum, where there are many male pro players wanting to have the top spot, so with more competition comes more fans and excitement brings higher winning amounts. Along with the Missclicks things, it is a gaming segregation. It won't make anything that much better in the eyes of the "elitist gamers" who want to watch the highest level of pro play.
Biologically males have faster reaction times compared to females for both auditory and visual stimuli, they are better gamers due to this, and so should be paid more.

In general, yeah. The majority of the PC gamers are also male.

alright, but just because you are good enough, can you simply join a team, do you think these female get many offers? no because of stereotypes from those who are forming teams. they have this unconscious thought that a woman is going to be a worse gamer than a man
the reason she has not been nominated is because she missed every shot
The best part about this is that they are talking about how they are discriminated against, YET THEIR PLAYING IN AN ONLY WOMAN LEAGUE.
Exactly. Leagues men can't join. The irony.
@@sparhawk1228 and if they did they would get destroyed sooo
@Kamran Khan bcoz most girls aren't gamers and thus don't reach higher levels.
BBC, do yourself a favour and watch Thooorin's video on female esports
And you do yourself a favor and go watch how women have to go through sexism while playing overwatch you snowflake

I'll end with this,
If you are a female player that is looking for a pat on the back for your efforts (despite not being able to compete among the best), then female tournaments are for you. If your only goal is to have fun and play with other girls, then by all means have fun. However, do not expect any real respect in the competitive scene because you are segregating yourself from the main competitive community.
If you are a female player that takes criticism and failure appropriately, will continue to be motivated to play in open leagues/tournaments to gain the necessary experiences (despite not winning, or receiving prize money initially because your rather not take the easy route and exploit your gender), and genuinely wants to be the best among the best at all costs, then carry on in your efforts, because that attitude will make you a better player than any female tournament could ever produce."

Lmao stop lying. Men definitely don't have to get through sexism like women in gaming. Go watch overwatch and you'll get what I mean

I've been a female gamer for over 25 years and never felt judged? It's normal for my family, friends, co workers. Since when has this been an issue? From the Bimbo "gamers" who get their boobs out on twitch? Cause for as long as I can remember.... gaming has been equal for males and females 🤔
👍 Let's keep it that way
what advice you can give girls whose starting off the gaming world? what got you into the gaming?
why dont they compete in unisex tuornaments i dont get it? there isnt any policy against it... Is it because they would get steamrolled and never reach the money placements?
Edoardo Titto yep
There are unisex tournaments the main league is unisex its just the female league is for female teams who cant get into the main league.
A bit late to the party BBC. #Gamergate was last year.
I think it started in 2014. This film was commissioned for our 100 Women series. Have a look here ruclips.net/p/PLS3XGZxi7cBXWgiiNUJdhqssTIkrjVJfu

In the interests of equality when will we be expecting your 100 men's series?
@Beans and @BBC News we've had a whole "season" of greatest black people (films etc) will there be a "greatest WHITE" people season too? (for the same reasons outlined above)
you replied BBC more like '' peasants and stupid morons playgroud''
The reason the money is different is because these women in the video are playing in the "Womens League" where all the Men (Some women) are playing in the normal league where the big money is but most men team win the tournaments. Also they are calling it sexist but there is no "Male League" and males get harassed online also.
BBC , most of the ladies in this video said they were not represented accurately, what do you say to that ?
what are these creatures known as "girls"
Toys to play with
some of them are really cool like silvybot, some of them use their body for money like sssniperwolf, some are like the one in the thing
You will never now, boy.
The real fact is they are just way less good than male professionals in the sport.
nik girls also have a slower reaction time
@@nakajimakuro actually slower reaction times based on research. They have better multitasking ability. But reaction time is far slower than mens.
@@nakajimakuro i dont know where you're getting your facts from.
This is very misleading BBC
1. No professional gaming tournaments are closed off, anyone can join
2. Females are not included in the top players because they aren't top players, it is not anyones fault that males have the top spots in esports.
3. The graphics showing the "pay gap" is very misleading, because more males compete, so more males win, very simple
4. Women getting harrassed online is not okay, but keep in mind that literally everyone gets harrassed online, that is a part of using the internet, and it is unfair to pretend that there is no mute or block buttons
Ive seen other BBC videos addressing esports, and you need to stop pushing an unreasonable agenda on an industry that you clearly know nothing about.
they should be glad that they made female only tournaments possible.
RealTalk juliano couldnt play in a t2 or t1 team lmao
Cara Diann No, there are as many women in sports and they arent better, its nature, nothing to do with numbers
Well team secret with juliano went into an open tournament and lost every single game against even t3 teams so they're not even on a level of t3 teams. Lost to teams which aren't even making a single dollar just because they're males.
The gape between male and females is the skill lvl

S1mple could 2v1 those two female "pros," and still win.

TY
BBC might as well make the same video but replace esports with regular sports. Make the same arguments and be wrong for the same reasons.
Men with the same skill level won't earn anything close to 10k.
There is a hue pay gap though. Men at the same skill level of the top female teams get paid much less that their female counterparts.
I’m sorry, but if you were good or got good that people would respect you. If you are getting judged, it is probably because you are not performing at a level that is not on par for the title “Professional” level. Look at all of the harassment that bad teams get, it’s not because of their sex, but because of their skill. It boils down to “You cannot earn respect if you do not show up with the skills to demand it.”
well, bbc didn't really posted everything they said. Plenty comments already say it
I'm a guy, my opinion about girls is that they should be treated just like guys, just like any other gamer.
Also flaming is part of the gaming culture
If you let someone's words online get to you, you don't even belong in E sports
At least Julia is chilled..
it's hilarious to me that they think having female only tournament isn't sexist and borderline Islamic ., . .
Literally everyone gets shit online. Do you even know how many threats I got? And I'm sure it's the same with everyone.
statistically, their the more men player than female one, so its normal than their is more male teams competing on E-sports
Everyone gets shit in the gaming world
If you ah r never been in a Mw2 lobby you have never experienced real toxicity
The thing about harrassment is that everybody gets them, especially on the damn internet.
Literally never seen anyone being sexist towards women unless it was an absolute joke.
Well, I play a lot of CS, so just let me say my opinion:
Why would they give out so much money on the girls when at the end of the day, not enough people are going to watch them play to make the reward worth while?
as off points
every girl who ever joins your team in csgo is treated way better by ransoms than any guy, men playing with men is 1000x more toxic and anyone who actually plays the games instead of reporting knows that
also there was a match a while ago where a tier 1 female team played a tier 3 male team and lost 16-1
even in everyday cs like Esea you can watch male pros stomp female teams it's just a skill thing purely not gender
true from what i have observed from gaming over the years is that the team is generally much more soft , less rude and less toxic on a female then male .
Some tournament Paris was one of the biggest tournaments of 2016 ? Are you kidding ? :DDD

This so many dislikes I love it
everybody gets shit in online gaming get used to it get used to it
lets explore their "Inside world" *snort*
But miss harvey got destroyed by shroud
Women have slower reaction times compared to men. It isn't by much but in gaming Reaction Time is everything (depending on the game of couse, mainly First Action shooters). This is why players retire in their 20s/30s due to the fact that reaction times start to increase (get worse) after the age of 20. So they're at a disadvantage and can't compete with the men. The reason for having a different tournament is the same as the situation in the Olympics. The BBC would have known all that I just said but ignored it because it's "sexist" that women, on average, are slower than men.
What can i say about this the like-dislike ratio speaks itself.
This is incomplete and misleading information.
there is for sure a difference between woman and men in csgo. did you ever seen the show match against team secret and ex Titan?
Its skill not gender
(Btw twitch is pretty biased towards women, which is sexist, but we don't see BBC or anyone else doing anything, which in itself is also pretty biased)
yes I have too much free time :3
EDIT: The fourth thing, the earnings thing, the reason for bigger earnings is the competition in the male side pf the spectrum, where there are many male pro players wanting to have the top spot, so with more competition comes more fans and excitement brings higher winning amounts. Along with the Missclicks things, it is a gaming segregation. It won't make anything that much better in the eyes of the "elitist gamers" who want to watch the highest level of pro play.
They always complain they need to stick to the kitchen, but some of them ain't even good at that
The dislikes talk themselves...
Men invented the video game so we play more than women
Biologically males have faster reaction times compared to females for both auditory and visual stimuli, they are better gamers due to this, and so should be paid more.
Just play at the same level and you can play in the top tornys
Mabye just mabye the reason they didn't get paid as much is because
