Not a bike for me Bob but I must congratulate you on your presentation style and real world knowledge of the topic. I really appreciate your no nonsense straight to it and pacy RUclips presentations…..that definitely can’t be said for all bike related presentations on here….packed with prevarication and waffle!
Thanks. Great review. I went to test ride a Desert X and based on your review I thought I would try a Monster as well. What an absolute riot a road legal speeds! Like a 250 with >100bhp. I no longer need or want 1200cc and 175bhp. Less is certainly more in this case. The 937 Monster handles brilliantly, is helium light, fast and more importantly an absolute giggle on the road at speeds that will not trouble my licence (although it is capable of that). I bought the Monster SP as a result.
I bought a 22 monster + and it’s great. SP would suit someone that wants to track ride it often. Buying that exhaust alone costs enough to make the SP decent value.
Comfortable on the road, and a little too soft for anything more than that. Competitive riding would need a little stiffening up for me. Then again there’s a different setup for every rider. For my use (road use) the standard bike suspension is just right.
Great vid. Really like this bike. It's far too expensive imo but if I had the money I would definitely buy one. It's got the perfect balance of useable power to weight for the road & you just don't need that much power if you've got a decent lightweight chassis & good quality suspension & brakes.
I've come round to really liking the look of the new Monster. Great service intervals and normal valves. Good ground clearance, by the look of it. The front mudguard's too small.
I absolutely love it. I bought a Sportster 48 last year and was planning on buying a new Sportster S later this year, but today I took my brother to buy a Kawi Ninja 650 and the dealership had a Ducati Monster SP sitting there. After seeing the price I immediately knew the Sportster S was out of the picture and am now planning on picking up a Monster SP after paying off the 48 later this year.
I went through this exact experience. Always rode Harley’s and planned on buying a 48 for getting around the city. Test rode one of these and bought it the same day instead.
I actually ended up going with a Cosmic Yellow Triumph Street Triple and love the bike. It was how ever the Monster that changed my mind on my next bike and got me into the middle weight naked bikes! How do you like the Monster? It was between the Monster, Street Triple and Ktm Duke890R. Ultimately, my love for triumph triples won lol. My pops had a Daytona 675 when i was a kid. Same engine as my current street triple just now a bigger 765 as well as some more modern tech. @@carter4597
Nice bike Bob but like nearly everyone is saying it's overpriced. It's way too close to the Streetfighter V2. Also for that sought of money you can buy a BMW S1000R, or the new Yam MT10. If you shop around you could find yourself the superb Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 [non factory].
I bought a Hornet CB750 and bought a $9000 sauna with the change. 😂 I didn't have a monster 937 on order but they messed my order up. All is well that ends well.
I don't get all the fuss over quick shifters. I have tried them a few times, and they just seem clunky, and for me the enjoyment of riding a bike is enjoying the machinery. and part of that is using the clutch. yes the quick shifter can give you better times around a track. but I could not careless. I just bought a 2019 Ducati 939 Supersport. non s model, with only 2.200 km on the clock. the bike looks like it just came off the show room. and I am really loving it. I think it looks way way nicer than this new Monster. but I've never been a Monster fan. for me I always thought of Ducati as a Ferrari on two wheels. because they are both Italian, with high performance and that Farrari and Ducati Red.
Just got one, nice bike, looks great, sounds great, but costs a pretty penny. Totally different than my 765. Always wanted a Ducati, but wasn't big on plain red end to end. The livery here is more interesting imho. It is surprisingly tall, but the reward is in the ride!
Missing the look of the trellis frame. Still stylish. Practically the front mudguard is virtually missing but guess most owners are only heading out on sunny dry days. Still amazes me where new bike prices are heading
@MOTOBOB Its a nice bike honestly, but its not what I think of, when I think Ducati Monster....¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I certainly don't enjoy the look as much as the original (Trellis Frame) Monster, wish the headlight looked more like the Ducati Streetfighter V4. The distorted round headlight doesn't do it or me... NEEDS A BELLY PAN - The underside of the bike could benefit from being made more chunky looks like its missing something.
@@motobob Exactly, even my 765RS is the same... Without the Belly Pan it looks very weird. The profile / silhouette of the bike changes a lot with or without a chunky Belly Pan. Would be good if you could compare this Monster to the new Ducati Streetfighter V2. I enjoy the overall look of that bike much more to this modern Monster...👍
Hii , I have been following and your reviews ar every helpfull. What does the levels of wheelie control mean, I think it should be either on or off I don't understand the levels and I am not a pro rider 😂
Like the paintwork and the look of the bike , not sure if I would buy one reading lots of issues with KTM bikes and some RUclips subscribers / owners have had several problems one individual had to return is KTM ,but wasn’t easy KTM wasn’t helpful on this occasion,
Having ridden both I can tell you that performance wise the XSR900 is more bang for your buck in the engine department. I like the brakes and the suspension on the Ducati better. If I didn't all ready have a yamaha tracer 900gt which is a very similar bike than I would have gone with the XSR900. That being said I purchased the ducati instead because I like the looks and the handling was a bit better.
I test rode the standard monster before picking up triumph Speed twin 1200. I felt the bike was too compact. But loved the power delivery and it's direct.
I have both Speed Twin 1200 and Monster SP. I just do not feel planted on the STwin under hard acceleration, and it's very cruiser like in sound. However I love the retro look, I hesitate to part with it.
Bikes are getting way to expensive..last year mt 09 was 9450 - now is 11.000 everything is getting way to expensive for what you really get. 14.000 for this ducati is way to much ...for 16400 you can get bmw s1000r or mt -10 or suzuki gsxs 1000 or honda cb1000r ...or a better bike than this.
The posers seem to still have a problem with the new frame. Those of us who ride our bikes love the new Monster, and my SP is more fun 95% of the time then the SDR1290 I traded it for.
I went and had a look at 1 roday.I'm trying hard to like it,but i just don't know? It's ok from some angles but butt ugly from others.I think it's all over the place and it sounds shit.

Thanks a lot for letting us know about the seat height options for the different bikes. Thats a big help when trying to choose which bike to go for.

It has desmo.
@@xorbe2 I didn't know thst.
Without the trellis it isn't the same for me.
@@UnburdenedByWhatHasBeen same here. It looks more like a Honda hornet now
It's a great bike in SP configuration but Triumph really perfected the middle class with the 765 Street Triple RS.
I second that!!
Street Triple RS for cheaper or Streetfighter V2 for not much more 🤔
No, Yamaha have perfected this with the MT09. Save yourself 10k.

Seriously contemplating one of these...
Ducati forever 💕💕💕
I hated the look of the treillis frame, glad they got rid of it

perfect bike for movie crime n chase type of scenes.
Looks like a lot of ground clearance so you could just change the tires and then call it a dual sports?

For that price hike, they should have put the V-Twin thats in the Streetfighter V2. Would have made this bike a weapon.
Then Ducati would have two bikes very close in specs; would that make sense?
The streefighter V2 is the bigger bike. What would be the point of having two of the same ?
@@thierryfaquet7405 Bigger bike? They are about the same size and have the same engine displacement.
Does the Slip-on exhaust bump up the torque/ horsepower like the full exhaust? Thanks
Nope. You'd need the full system and ecu flash for that
