Why does everybody want flat displays? I understand screen protector, but just take care of your phone. Curved display is so much better. Looks cooler, better viewing angles, useful features like edge panels, smooth back swipe, and just the general luxurious aesthetic it gives. Flat screen? Just screen protector. Only reason. Alot of phones going flat and end up looking the same or like iPhones. Samsung went that route (which I am really against), and now OnePlus is thinking about it.
Get a flat display and watch it get hellishly uncomfortable. The only reason that borderline tablet isn't falling out of his hands is because the screen and back are curved to fit into his hands. If you've actually ever held a phone while doing something else you would know that
The only bad thing about OnePlus is the issues it has with pricing it's phones in different parts of the world.. and the Brand Value of Apple/Samsung , plus the availability and ease of purchase with EMIs and Carrier partnerships. In South Asia where we just buy phones in cash with pre paid Sim cards , OnePlus provides like 8/10 of a Samsung Galaxy Ultra or a Pro Iphone at a price difference of a few hundred dollars. ordered mine yesterday for 700€ and am really looking forward to it. This will be my first "premium phone" experience upgrading from my now 3 years old 300€ Poco F3.
@Louis-kg7qo So far I cant complain. The battery life is great and the camera system is probably the biggest upgrade. Also less bloatware/ads in the software compared to Xiaomi/Poco. Hope they make future Oneplus phones fully waterproof tho.
I had a OnePlus 2 which I lived with for such a long time. I think I was able to because of the superior hardware at the time. 4gb of ram was unheard of at the time and kept it chugging along for years even though system updates had long since run out. Provide a longer update schedule and you'll win me back, OP. ❤❤
I totally second your opinion. Having experienced the battery level anxiety with LG G4, OP12 makes me completely forget about battery and there is everything else almost at par with other costly flagships ❤
There are only 3 things that I feel are missing: IP68, Flat screen and Log mode, I own a OnePlus 9RT and it has a log mode and it works really well for me. Idk why someone would remove such a good feature 😕

OnePlus will never be what it once was and that's quite sad to me. Remember when OnePlus devices came with literally a custom ROM preinstalled? I miss those days and I wish I could go back.. Or OxygenOS 10 and 9? That was a truly amazing software experience
Is the curved screen going to be very expensive to replace? Thats my only scare.. my s8 was beautiful but when it broke the repair cost was really expensive
Nailed it!! Thank you for this very honest & true to life user review. I've been using a OP12 since launch, and for the price i paid, it's been bloody amazing! I mean, let's be honest, who really uses all the features of so-called flagships costing $1000 plus?? Nah, didnt think so. The majority are just trying to make their battery last throughout the day... 😂
That's the reason I switched to OnePlus 12 from the iPhone 14 pro in April, I just couldn't withstand the awful battery life and the slow as a snail charging speeds. I think the OnePlus 12 is in fact 2024's best Android device 😍
I would really really LOVE To try out a OnePlus 12 Or a OP Flagship But one of the things that gets me to stay stay with my Pixel 7 Pro Is the Great Google Exclusive Features like Call Screening. And this is my first Pixel. Coming from the S21+ and it was pretty good. But I'm definitely quite tempted to go For Another Pixel again ! :) Great video as usual Ryan !
Their quick settings panel looks like a combination of One UI & iOS. Not bad though. I'm not complaining. It seems like they took the best of both worlds. I guess I have to check out the phone to see if it's actually any good.
After getting thousands of green lines in my display of OnePlus 8t and replacing it over because I loved the phone I ended my toxic relationship with OnePlus. Even 12 is getting green lines. Such poor quality
I just love that the Oneplus has a pull-down panel like the iphone, it's a wonderfully quick way to increase the volume, quickly use the decrease, without having to press the button all the time. The iPhone is wonderful in that you can quickly pull down the panel when you are watching a video or playing a game and you can quickly access the sound slider and the same for the screen brightness slider. I hope that all phones will have such a quick pull-down panel where you can quickly access the volume slider, most phones only have a screen brightness slider that you can quickly access, but the sound slider is more important. I have an Xperia 1 VI, and on it I had to invent an extra tile to quickly change the volume without having to press those side buttons all the time. Thank you!
The 12 is a really good phone, but the software is full of arbitrary little annoyances where Android doesn't function quite how you'd expect it to. I'm also still not used to how weirdly huge and inconsistent some UI elements are, which can't be corrected by adjusting the screen DPI. It's so close to being a great phone, but I'll probably be switching to something else.
@@adeebkhan7498 Hell yeah. This phone kicks ass at emulating PS2 Games as well. Love the phone so far. I was going to get this phone for my Girl but she doesn't need anything like this with too much power. So I ordered a Google Pixel 8a - 256GB. Once I receive the phone I'm gonna debloat it with the Universal Android Debloater Next Generation Tool.
I am using 3 years now the 8T and its still performing as fast as at the beginning. Software is Great, only issues i had was with android 12 . OnePlus with 12 did its best , this phone is overall the best phone for the money.
I have a one plus phone now. It amazing and still so smooth. However, the software support is horribe, oxygen OS is good, but the OS support and updates are horrid. And I will never buy a one plus phone again. Only Samsung or Pixel from now on.
OnePlus definitely deserves more recognition but it's not all peachy. My OnePlus 11 lost the lift to wake feature. You also can tap or double tap the AOD to see the lock screen. OnePlus 12 users say they never even had those features. Third party launchers still don't have proper support. And they keep copying Apple without giving too much thought if what they are adding makes sense. So please take the time to go through the community app and find things users don't like and actually criticize the damn phone. Help the community help OnePlus make the phone better.
got also my hands on it when before i switched to the pixel 8 pro. the design of op is absolute damn good, i love curved displays and if u just want a good shot, this phone is all u need, ive had it 2 weeks for testing. and need a phone for some nice product shots and if the light is not perfect, the pics of this phone not even close to what the pixel 8 pro does... if u are in that space, it feels u have not an high end phone. i hope they push this brand further and squeeze more out of that camera. would love to switch over there. everything u praised in that video... im on board... the performance, ther battery and the fingerprint are amazing. things u cant say about the pixel 8 pro.
I really want to love this phone, and used to, but the 2 second scroll lag when switching between recent apps with the pill on the bottom is a deal breaker for me. Their last update claimed to fix it, but it’s not fixed when sliding left to right with the pill on the bottom. That’s how I switch between my recent apps.
I hate OnePlus 12. It has a very agressive thermal throttling curve where in games you get limited to 55 fps as soon as your phone reaches 33°C. This throttling also happens when a certain value of battery drain is reached. (Warzone mobile) I feel cheated after buying it really. One second you're vibing at 110 fps and the next second you're reminded of your poor life descisions at 55 fps. Oh and the battery goes from 100 to 0 in just 2hours 15 minutes of constant warzone mobile at the highest brightness.
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv what? void my warranty and be unable to use banking apps just to get the performance that was advertised? Nuh uh. No OnePlus for me going forward. Although there is a workaround of disabling the system battery app using a pc. But it results in even more battery drain although it gives consistent 90+ fps in wzm.
Everyone keeps saying a negative is that the support is only for 4-5 years. No one keeps a phone past 4 years anyways. I do not understand why reviewers keep harping on it. An average person is going to get a new phone every 3-4 years.
5years now on my OnePlus 7T pro... Really unhappy with software updates, stuck on Android 12 full of bugs, Android 11 was even worse... The phone came out with Android 10 and it was just smooth, but they pushed the updates and can't go back (I tried, but apparently something happened and my fingerprint sensor is corrupted and works only on A12). I'm pretty used to it, it's really fast, I can play games, work, and can take outstanding night sky pictures. Unfortunately I'm forced to update cause it doesn't support VoLTE and 3G antennas are being shut down in Australia so I won't be able to make/receive calls. Looking forward to buying the OnePlus 13 and keeping it 5wooping years or so
My favorite phone as well, just got it in April and shelved my S23 Ultra along with the Galaxy watch 6 classic. I keep wanting to switch back to it but the battery life and charging speeds are exceptional. Oxygen OS is not bad and runs smooth. I know the camera is good and maybe not up to the specs of Apple, Google or Samsung but for the price, nothing beats this!!
I really love my Oneplus 12. It's fast, UI is smooth as silk, absolutely no bloatware, works like a beast with all the multitasking I do on it, great display with good visibility outdoors, excellent RAM management, superb battery backup that lasts all day and has never let me down. Camera is decent too, works for my purpose. I own the Galaxy s23 ultra as well but use OP 12 as my primary phone as I absolutely love it! OnePlus is the proof how much other phone brands are ripping you off!
I would rather pay 10-20% more for Software Stability. I dont know how Oneplus 12 is, but my Oneplus 11 had some minor bugs, annoying. Xiaomi has grave software bugs. So now im with Samsung and no issues.
I had OP 5t working flawless for 4 years. Later I switched to s21fe which gave the green line on screen after an software update well before 2 years of purchase. Back to OP 12r again, enjoying what I had missed long back. No more samsung please
I loved my op7, but there is one more caveat with the update situation. Not only they offer less updates but they are late. Maybe not the first update, but once you are in the second or third year the updates come very late. However the advantage of OnePlus is the battery life and charging speed. I miss it now.
I would've gone for the 11R if it didn't have color os, they should've sticked with superior stock Android experience, which is why i went with Poco F6 which does have miui but they generally have better custom rom support
Hopefully one day OnePlus finally comes to an agreement with AT&T in order fully support this device so we can get wifi calling and band 14 compatibility. 😔
I have it for past three months. Things are good so far. Only thing am suspicious about camera updates, think they ruined a bit main camera software processing regarding colors and some details. Also, since .802 phone speaker went bad. Mids are missing and vocals sound pitchy and bad. Overall, there is no complaints.
I had the OnePlus 1, 3, 7t then left for pixel. My brother has had the 1, 5, 7 pro, 11 pro, fold and what is a recurring thought I have with OnePlus is it's good for tech reviewers or people who upgrade yearly. Beyond 1 year, OnePlus is horrible with timely updates and support
oneplus will be perfected nxt yr if they can still keep the competitive pricing while upgrading more and adding more features such as its gaming niche, ip68, etc flatter display and lesser ios ui copying would be good
I really wanted to give this phone a chance, but the screen developed the green line within 2 days, ans the replacement took 2 weeks. Luckily i had not sent my trade in device, but i realized that if i had, id have no phoem for 2 weeks, and thst just doesnt work, so i cut my losses, got a refund and kept my Pixel 8. Not having a physical location whwre the phone can be serviced under warranty is a no-go for me from now on.
I gotta ask, im going to be upgrading my phone soon and i can't decide between these three. Oneplus Open, oneplus 12 or oneplus 13. Do you have any recommendations or advice?
Have the emerald OnePlus 12 16GB Ram 512GB storage version and I love it. Sexy looks and everything is so smooth, makes great shots. Def best phone of the year by far.
I still use oneplus 6. although I have been using it for almost 6 years, its usabilty still feels fresh to me. Recently I bought an iPhone 15 pro, and i regret using it. iP15Pro's camera is excelent but I miss the simplicity of oneplus. Yes, other than camera in most cases matches what you said about oneplus.
I used samsung flagships and i keep coming back to OnePlus. They are just smoothers somehow. The Exynos processors Samsung keeps putting in their flagships are absolutely yrash in the long term.

Watching this on my OnePlus 12R, its been pure enjoyment since the day i bought it
do you get green lines isue?
advanced welcome for green line and mobo issue..
@@amirluqman3477 No, many people use OnePlus for years and there's no Green line
The one big miss on this phone is the lower ingress rating. Other than that, this is a fantastic device! I hope that they give IP68 on the 13.
ordered mine yesterday for 700€ and am really looking forward to it.
This will be my first "premium phone" experience upgrading from my now 3 years old 300€ Poco F3.
@Louis-kg7qo
So far I cant complain. The battery life is great and the camera system is probably the biggest upgrade. Also less bloatware/ads in the software compared to Xiaomi/Poco. Hope they make future Oneplus phones fully waterproof tho.
I bought it last week after ditching my Huawei p30 pro ... Am delighted 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Huawei p30 pro here.. Oneplus sound great but in 2 weeks we have pixel9 pro Xl.. I dont want to regret😂
@@bibbibob with mediocre processor 😁😁😁 gd luck with your new iron box
If only One Plus would release a phone similar in camera specs as the Oppo find 7/8 ultra, I would have jumped ship long ago.
Switched to the 12 and it’s been great.
OP12 vs S24 Plus? if OP12, then why over S24 Plus?
I had a OnePlus 2 which I lived with for such a long time. I think I was able to because of the superior hardware at the time. 4gb of ram was unheard of at the time and kept it chugging along for years even though system updates had long since run out.
Provide a longer update schedule and you'll win me back, OP. ❤❤
I totally second your opinion. Having experienced the battery level anxiety with LG G4, OP12 makes me completely forget about battery and there is everything else almost at par with other costly flagships ❤
S6 Edge Exynos has a more annoying battery 🔋 than G4
I bought a OnePlus 8T a few years ago and even now it works great and I've gotten android updates pretty quickly. So tempted to pick up a 12R!
i daily drive the 12R and have been loving it
There are only 3 things that I feel are missing: IP68, Flat screen and Log mode, I own a OnePlus 9RT and it has a log mode and it works really well for me. Idk why someone would remove such a good feature 😕
and now Apple has it people think it's cool and don't realize that this brand has it before wow
@@Jesus_Christ_loves_you_alot Don't worry They are not going completely flat
@@Jesus_Christ_loves_you_alot No matter how much you take care of your phone but once in a blue moon it is possible that you could drop your phone or maybe someone will and replacing a display is expensive yesterday I replaced my display as I facing issues with it and it was expensive and I also used to love curved displays but now I feel flat display makes more sense if I had hell lot of money then yeah I would definitely buy a curved display smartphone but for now I guess equal bezels looks good
Put a nice flat screen on the next one and I'll definitely give it a go, I like the sound of everything but that curved display
Nice curves are lovely to look at and better in your hand.
There's going to be a bigger battery for sure
OnePlus will never be what it once was and that's quite sad to me. Remember when OnePlus devices came with literally a custom ROM preinstalled? I miss those days and I wish I could go back.. Or OxygenOS 10 and 9? That was a truly amazing software experience
Most people won't understand. They are used to chinese roms which is what oxygen is based on now.
In North America, the 12R is even better value. Traded in my S21 plus and got the 12R for $349 for a Mother's Day promotion 😉👍
My favorite phone so far. And I've had a lot of phones!
I stick to Samsung simply because their service center in India have the best track record regarding repairing devices
LOL
Their quick settings panel looks like a combination of One UI & iOS. Not bad though. I'm not complaining. It seems like they took the best of both worlds. I guess I have to check out the phone to see if it's actually any good.
One Plus is notorious for its green line...or say all AMOLED screens, this issue should be resolved soon.
Thank you!
S22-S24 Ultra design is terrible. It looks cool but is intentionally unergonomic to use.
It feels like trying to masturbate on a brick. Absolutely terrible design.
Sorry to say but one plus 13 is not coming with a flat display there is a quad curved display in one plus 13
Will buy when 6.1 size is available.
I have literally the same configuration, except I went with the Emerald Green. It's soooo nice! No case/screen protector. Glad I switched from iOS.
I bought the white one and it looks the best for me.
The alert slider is a major reason why I will place my order for the phone next week. Without it, I will opt for another phone.
I am watching this on the OnePlus 7t pro. It's still doing great.
Watching from my oneplus 12r❤
got also my hands on it when before i switched to the pixel 8 pro. the design of op is absolute damn good, i love curved displays and if u just want a good shot, this phone is all u need, ive had it 2 weeks for testing. and need a phone for some nice product shots and if the light is not perfect, the pics of this phone not even close to what the pixel 8 pro does... if u are in that space, it feels u have not an high end phone. i hope they push this brand further and squeeze more out of that camera. would love to switch over there. everything u praised in that video... im on board... the performance, ther battery and the fingerprint are amazing. things u cant say about the pixel 8 pro.
😅😅😅 these things some of y'all .complain about makes me laught
@@kings_chronicle592 my pixel 8 pro, my nothing phone 2 and iPhone 15 pro max don't have the issue. 2 second lag is a very big deal.
@@anthonyflowers9249 well I don't notice a 2 sec lag I'm too busy just living life 😂😂😂
@@anthonyflowers9249 how is nothing phone 2 compared to oneplus 12 and iPhone? Can you recommend it?
I hate OnePlus 12.
It has a very agressive thermal throttling curve where in games you get limited to 55 fps as soon as your phone reaches 33°C. This throttling also happens when a certain value of battery drain is reached.
(Warzone mobile)
I feel cheated after buying it really.
One second you're vibing at 110 fps and the next second you're reminded of your poor life descisions at 55 fps.
Oh and the battery goes from 100 to 0 in just 2hours 15 minutes of constant warzone mobile at the highest brightness.
It is stupid but you can also root the phone and get rid of it
@@AdamSmith-gs2dv what? void my warranty and be unable to use banking apps just to get the performance that was advertised?
Nuh uh. No OnePlus for me going forward.
Although there is a workaround of disabling the system battery app using a pc. But it results in even more battery drain although it gives consistent 90+ fps in wzm.
@@Tushar_Talwar_09why didn't you buy a gaming phone if you are a full nerd
@@peaceformula5830 who tf buys a whole phone just for gaming??
My point is if I bought s23 ultra I would be better off.
Also no neet for hostility.
Everyone keeps saying a negative is that the support is only for 4-5 years. No one keeps a phone past 4 years anyways. I do not understand why reviewers keep harping on it. An average person is going to get a new phone every 3-4 years.
😂 you speaking facts.
Yess...an average person might get a new phone every 3-4yrs, but at the same time I've seen many of them keeping their old phone alongside.
Looking forward to buying the OnePlus 13 and keeping it 5wooping years or so
I could see this feeling better. Sold my S24 ultra as it was the most uncomfortable phone I have ever used.
OxygenOS 14.1 update="Smooth beyond belief" It was the one that changed the whole scenario to keep the brand reputation as promised!!
Thanks for your review of the one plus 12 great device and also the company for respect the users like me🎉😊
I really love my Oneplus 12.
I agree 100% Slider is very very helpful
It should be a requirement for tech developers to watch review videos like this of their own products.
Have you been using it caseless? Sorry I missed that part in the video :P
you'd have to catch me dead before I'd be owning another solely based Chinese phone, nice vid though
I loved my OnePlus 3 and would have it again as I loved a metallic back on my phone 😊
Go with one plus Nord 4
I would've gone for the 11R if it didn't have color os, they should've sticked with superior stock Android experience, which is why i went with Poco F6 which does have miui but they generally have better custom rom support
I feel the same way about the s21+
Hopefully one day OnePlus finally comes to an agreement with AT&T in order fully support this device so we can get wifi calling and band 14 compatibility. 😔
Me here watching this video on Oneplus 5T😅
Watching from one plus 12 ❤
I suffered from Carpal Tunnel Syndrome. I always consider the weight of my devices. The specs are good, but it's too heavy for me.
Couldn't agree more...Such a great device.
1+ 12 is so good, value for money for sure!!!
After the disaster that was 9 pro...I blacklisted OnePlus
OnePlus= OPPO
What a newsflash.
OPPO = Nothing Bad for the user.
No shit dude. What?
My large hands need a large phone.
I would buy this right now if it had flat screen and proper waterproof.
We need a 6" - 6.2" sized OnePlus high spec phone.
Watching this on my new oneplus 12 ❤
I bought the highest end-low end phone, because it has a headpgone jack and microsd. Do you REALLY require powrr exceeding dimensity 1300...?
I couldn't agree with this guy's assessment more.
this is the video that finally convinces me to get the OnePlus 12
It's just the charging speed and the battery size
oneplus will be perfected nxt yr if they can still keep the competitive pricing while upgrading more and adding more features such as its gaming niche, ip68, etc
flatter display and lesser ios ui copying would be good
With windows integration, Dex, great performance. Samsung is the brand for me at the moment!
who many years of firware/security updates do you get? my S24 plus gives 7 yrs !
Still using the 7 pro 🙌🏼
Have the emerald OnePlus 12 16GB Ram 512GB storage version and I love it. Sexy looks and everything is so smooth, makes great shots. Def best phone of the year by far.
I wish they removed the curved screen but other than the the phone is amazing.
