Love how when he played he was scary af. But when he’s just chilling with his mom and talking to the camera he seems chill af. Hell of a player. Like a mix of Brady and Ray Lewis. Low expectations to impossible feats.
As a Ravens fan, it hurts every time I am reminded that James Harrison was on our team and we cut him. We could have had Ray Lewis, Terrell Suggs and James Harrison in our linebacking corps. Can you imagine that defence?! Despite that, I have nothing but respect for James Harrison. His underdog story is admirable and he was always a headache in Ravens-Steelers games
@@DreChilly Could have been even better than 2000. The 2006 Ravens defence was also historically great and we lost to the Colts when they did not score a TD because our offence did not show up. If we have James Harrison on that team, we probably hold the Colts to 2-3 field goals (if not less) and beat them, beat the Pats, crush the Bears and win a Super Bowl. All of a sudden, that 2006 defence is one of the greatest ever.

I am proud of this brother. He survived himself and thrived. Been there, done that and I am a success myself. Plus I am a Steelers' fan and James gave me a lot of great years!
He and Dwight Freeney were such an inspiration for me as he was a short defensive player and i was 6 foot as well. I always said to myself that if he could do I could do it. Of course my career never went anywhere but i always loved seeing him and Freeney play
That Steelers defense in the 2000s was a nasty unit. Had Harrison and Woodley on the edges, Farrior and Foote/Timmons in the middle, Casey Hampton, Aaron Smith and Keisel on the Dline, and Troy Polamalu, Ryan Clark on the back end. Ike Taylor was a solid CB. The Steelers were going to draft Revis in 07 before the Jets traded up right in front of Pit and stole him. I always imagine Revis in that defense
That's a huge distinction, sorry Mom. He was the only child that you had with your late husband and you tried to lump him in with the kids you brought into the marriage. Worth arguing with your mother about. And I recently lost mine. Still wouldn't let her get away with that.
Seeing his relationship with mother gives me hope for mine. My mom tried to kick me out 3 times before I was 18. I was a bad kid though so I don't blame her.
There is no bad kid, only bad circumstances. Those circumstances can affect a child’s emotional and behavioral response. But for the majority of the time, a child did nothing wrong and was influenced by a bad adult.
It is interesting how his stubborn attitude and personality created so many setbacks for him in his early life and career, but made him unstoppable once he became established. The difference was finding a positive focus in his life.
That man was a Raven and we let him get away. And I don’t mean he was on the roster. I mean James is the most ravens like non Raven that didn’t ever get to Raven.
I never liked this guy until just now when I realized he has a funny personality. My first time actually hearing him talk after watching him play all those years.
Heads up meeting Dean Pees had with James Harrison. He knew he had the potential and talent, but he also taught him that he needed to learn a lesson in order to get rewarded.
Okay I get it now. After seeing a young man was having a tough time, rather than taking the time to coach him Cowher just gave up on the guy. Roethlisberger and his “fish story” are great for the team though.
this isnt high school he was a grown man who self admittedly didnt put in the work theres no room on a roster for pet projects grow up cowher was right to cut him
Because gms and scouts spend to much time measuring a hand and taking height measurements and such instead of evaluating talent and when they pick wrong and won't admit it they won't give up on a bust so guys like James yearly slip threw the cracks .
His final year...he was selfish, self absorbed, unwilling to come alongside younger players, became a distraction-not a motivation...became angry at Tomlin & those around him...don't let the door hit you on the way out...no class.
Love how when he played he was scary af. But when he’s just chilling with his mom and talking to the camera he seems chill af. Hell of a player. Like a mix of Brady and Ray Lewis. Low expectations to impossible feats.
That's most men with their mothers. Even the biggest and baddest humble themselves in their moms presence.
He didn’t look so humble to me. She started go off…yall just don’t know Black moms. They don’t play!
Mom lowkey seemed toxic af

Had to give your comment 👍
Remind me when there was low expectations for Ray lewis

@@ndrocca True I feel like u guys left at least another 2 super bowls on the table during the Ray Lewis era.

That wouldn’t work Harrison and Suggs are the same type of player
He was 6'2" in high school and 5'10" at retirement. Life is rough.
Degenerative disc disease probably induced by hard contact a lot.
@Cayenne Captain Facts
Lol he was never 6'2
Lol my high school had me listed at 6”1 but I was 5”10. Sometimes the programs lie
Nah…programs in high school add 2, 3, 4 inches. NFL actually measures and use that.
James Harrison admitted to his mistakes, and he prevailed. Y’all can’t tell him nothing, only his momma.
This is amazing.
a man who can find his mistakes, admit he committed them, and work to get over them is a better man than most
@@braydo525 Amen.
Not even his momma can can him anything.
that's the problem with him "only his momma can tell him what to do".
That fact that he said "40... 50, 60hrs a week"

The Older we get
The More we become just like him...
Hell look how big he is
That label of being uncoachable, now we understand the backstory of it all.

But yet he turned things around, made something of his life and made his millions while you continue to lmaooo.

Can't blame the man, ff7 and ffx took hours of my life 🤣
"Two-day vet" is an incredible nickname.
James Harrison was such a monster when he was with the Steelers!
As a Steelers fan, I can agree. Was a shame to see him go.
I so badly wanted to see TJ Watt and Harrison on the edge in 2017, but James was unhappy and left sadly. Would've been a deadly rush
Shame we couldn't beat the Eagles and give him another ring. He was very beneficial for us in that post season.
Ya I remember he had that interception from the 1 in the super bowl against the cardinals.. ran all the way to the end zone it was phenomenal
He was a demi-God. The refs wouldn't call holding when the 6'7" linemen would grapple him.
I love how self aware and honest he is.
The dynamic between him and his mom is hilarious.
Harrison called his own teammate a bum 😂

Attitude is everything. Good for you.
I feel like you do, I am the same height. He and Aaron Donald make me wish I tried harder instead of listening to everyone say I was too short.
Lmao at Ben trying to doubt his 5 sacks, and then the narrator verifying it immediately.
I think he was just playing around

@@STEADYMOOBIN he was obviously joking 😂 he was smirking when he said it
It was clearly a joke, tool…
I like when James was like some bum named burger or something Lmao
As a browns fan, i couldn’t stand the Steelers defense and James Harrison was a big reason for that. Always respected his game though, wish we had him
Same idea but I’m a Bengals fan. But I also hated him the one year he was a Bengal as a spy
I'm from Akron and it pains me!
My only rememberable moment of James Harrison is the interception in Super Bowl 43 that went back for a pick six 100 yards UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

James in HS. Being labeled 6'2" 😆🤣. All the HS coaches lie on those programs!

I’ll never forget his pick six

Maybe the best ever
Battle ram….like Hulk
@Rafael Felan to this day I'm still not convinced he actually tapped both toes on the ground. His white shoes blend right in with the side line
Man if he was on the Ravens with Lewis,Suggs,Reed mad the front 7 would’ve been demons
That would have been a hell of a linebacker core.
Sheesh
Probably the best defense ever they already one of the greatest. Imagine beimg a RB and getting smashed by Ray and James Harrison at the same time 💀💀💀
Tbh that whole division at that time had linebackers like Mack trucks
And the best safety of all time behind them

That's a great relationship with James and his mom.
I loved this guy as a football player. It seems like he was born to play this game.
Definitely a first ballot hall of famer!
Hahaha na don’t think so. Solid LB but no hall of fame

Steelers Nation STAND UP!!!!
Harrison was the scariest guy on the field. He hit so hard, he was legit injuring people every week.

James used to workout at Riverdale high school on the track in Georgia back in the day. 💯 Wish I spoke to him now that I know his story...

Dude had the same sized head forever
This explains why he was cut, but not why he wasn’t drafted, when his college coach is saying he was the best d player in the league.
most likely due to his size. he was pretty undersized for his position
Absolute freak of nature
How did we not find him in akron??? Go browns. Much respect for this man
