Armada never "dropped" peach for fox. He only played fox in certain matchups like Hbox and Leffen. Aside from those two, he was still playing Peach 70-80% of the time while occasionally bringing out his fox 20-30% of the time.
I think he did mention, in early 2015, that he was dropping Peach only for him to decide to keep using her
Armada played Fox in a lot more matchups than just Hbox and Leffen. Against more characters than just Puff and Fox.
He played Fox vs Marth. He played Fox vs Falco. He played Fox vs Shiek.
Not all the time, but he would pull the character out. He's used Fox to beat Mango's Falco (at Apex 2015 for example). Often his matchups vs PPDM would involve Armada playing Fox against both Marth and Falco. And playing Fox sometimes in these matchups was true right up to Armada's retirement--I went back and looked up footage recently of Armada's Fox vs Zain's Marth from 2018 (Summit, although he switched Peach for Dreamland). Armada's Fox vs Plup's Shiek in 2018 (EVO--this time he stayed Fox the whole set 3-0).
The characters I don't think Armada ever played Fox against in tournament are Ice Climbers, Pikachu, and Yoshi, and presumably lower tiers like that. Which...sure, Peach is brutal against mid tiers and low tiers to the point that she makes an effective counterpick. And also I can't find an example of Armada playing Fox against Captain Falcon in a tournament setting (though Armada knew the matchup, there's old twitch footage of him beating Wizzrobe with Fox in friendlies back in 2017).
i think regardless, peach will still be a high tier.
As a peach main I'm disappointed, you talked about float cancel aerials but didn't show any float canceled aerials in the clip. There's a lot of other float mechanics missing (hyperfloat, sub float, buffered turnip drops, double jump lands), v canceling is not character specific tech, and the info about armada is very misleading (he didn't drop peach). It's also weird to only mention 2 peach mains in the whole video, 1 of which is retired.

As someone who is main Peach, this video made me realise there's tech I didn't even know about
peach is one of the most underrated in top tiers in melee and i hope in future more people will play and succeed her but hey if amsa do it someone can. loved the vid keep the hard work up ;) .
I think armada picked up fox for hbox he mainly will go peach and if he feel he needs to or really needs to will swap to fox

he usually picked fox for puff (hbox) or leffen (hes very good at the peach matchup), but sometimes plays fox in other cases like him playing fox against m2k at summit 6.
He also usually went to Fox Vs Leffen. Mainly due to the fact that Leffen was extremely good against peach

@@Flip-a-dip-dip I believe he would eventually go fox for the people who were really good agaisnt his peach but at the begging his main swap was for hbox armada used to destroy leffen with peach and now times have changed where he swaps to fox for leffen now

@@WTH1music that's not really accurate. It's all quite possible using simple claw grip, which has been around forever. It's not that different from certain spacies tech that has historically required claw, like certain jump-cancel options out of shine, consistent instant aerials with full drift, etc. Except that unlike peach mains who have not developed their character much, spacie mains actually developed and integrated tech that requires access to a dedicated finger on jump into their play way earlier and widely in the game's meta.
@@kkr0779 I cant help but feel like the claw argument is a bit redundant. Z grip existing as a less clunky and literal straight upgrade to claw obviously makes this easier right? I mean honestly this level of peach tech has straight up not reallly showed up when claw grip was around. is that just a choice of their's at the time?
@@WTH1music I mean I use claw grip on an unmodded OEM personally as a peach main and consistently hyperfloat, knit, etc. It's as easy as double-tapping Y at a certain bpm I grinded out in unclepunch. I'm not saying I personally support z-jump, but it's inaccurate to say this tech only exists or is viable for z-jump or box players. Peach is historically a technically underdeveloped character. It's like how icies mains didn't develop their character very much until wobbling was banned because they were too successful just using their characters strong basic options. For a long time most peach mains didn't even look that much at double jump cancel stuff because her basic ground options like dash attack and d-smash are really good, and standard float-canceled aerials are already really fast. Even now a lot of peach mains basically ignore their characters advanced tech options imo.
I also wouldn't say z-jump is strictly an upgrade over claw mechanically. It's easier on your hands depending on your personal hand health, but traditional claw still has a strong benefit to having quick access to the c-stick with your thumb that z-jump doesn't always give you in every situation. It's easier for me to option select asdi and etc in certain situations as a claw user just cus my thumb is less likely to be busy somewhere other than the c-stick, given that its workload is reduced to covering less face buttons. In general my thumb has less frames of travel time between certain inputs as a result too. Even with a moved jump, claw is still 3 fingers over 2 fingers in z-jump actively working on the controller face, which has advantages for high apm play. I do think claw is harder to learn than z-jump for sure though.
Peach is definitely on the uptick and I think shes underestimated.
In this video you showed a picture of Falco while mentioning difficult matchups, but Falco is actually an even matchup for her.
People have actually started incorporating some of her SSBU techniques into melee and it’s actually transitioning really well. Hopefully these can evolve her meta to get her back up to the 5/6th place she deserves.
Out of all the top tiers shes had it the roughest and she’s had to fight tooth and nail for her place in melee. All odds were against her even with Armada playing her and she’s still managed to remain top tier all these years later
I play peach/daisy in ultimate, just picked her up in melee and the bit of tech that translates makes her super fun

Ummmmm the future of Peaches I can tell you basically is having their patience tested as other players realize "wait, you're SLOWER than me, you come to ME!" And that it is just plain better to aggravate the Peach with passive play and occasional aggression rather than running your face into the peach player and eating over 50% from a move that starts in 5 frames..
Peach players are up there with puff players for patience tho, i doubt most players are willing to be that patient

Trif though... Trif beat Leffen too. He's also at the forefront of utilising new Peach tech in meta-defining ways. He's just not as visible cause he's in Spain and low attendance last year cause uni amongst other things

Peach downsmash is the only top tier move that feels bugged. Getting upsmash by fox or tippered by marth is stupid strong. Maybe even too strong to some. However, peach's downsmash feels legitimately broken. 60% from having the AUDACITY to hold down for a frame is awful to get hit by. There's a reason people dont love this character too much, not to even mention stitch. To each their own though. Peach has her moments for sure. If I could patch 1 thing though, it'd be that downsmash
