9:38 I didn't know that! This explains why pyramids functioned as granaries in earlier Civilization titles, only to be changed with bonus to workers, builders and construction in later games.

12:30 the most interesting part starts. Addition: as Raven points out, the pyramids symbolize Ra, god of the sun. Birby face with sun disk on top of his head here. In legends he is riding his heavenly sun boat to defeat the great snake Apep or Apophis, and he does that every single night, so the sun can rise. Another god of the sun was Amun, the Hidden One... he is usually shown with a human face and two very tall plumes on his hat. The cult of Amun got more popular starting with 5th dynasty and reached maximum popularity during New Kingdom, and as his name means "Invisible" or "Hidden", actually building underground tombs in hidden valleys was not just more practical, but also heavily symbolic.
So one of the answers to "why they stopped building pyramids" is religion changing in 1000 years. It's like asking why USA builds modern megachurches instead of gothic cathedrals... The pyramids got smaller as cult of Amun got bigger, tho he sometimes got mixed with other gods, giving us Amun-Ra, Amun-Min and even Amun-Zeus.

Yes the structure itself reflects a monumental achievement for early man. More than the pyramid itself however is what it took to create it vis a vis = infrastructure. Egypt had to unify itself towards a united effort to create the pyramids - and having done so set the stage for its subsequent greatness.
To create the pyramids the Egyptians had to create large, organized workforces which in turn had to be supplied. That means obtaining all the raw materials needed for the actual work + transporting sufficient agriculture to site to sustain that workforce + the creation of ships and harbors to achieve this logistical network + the importation of copper ore etc. needed for tools etc..
Think the railroads of the late-19th Century in the US. They did not simply lay some railroad tracks. They connected an otherwise disparate nation facilitating new routes of transportation and communication. Further by having a means to move goods about more freely what were local/regional industries could now transport their goods long distance and beyond creating national and international industries.
Moral of the story: the creation of the pyramids transformed Egyptian society uniting it and creating an internal/external logistical system which helped to transform the nation into a greater power in the region. Thus they themselves are a marvel. In creating them however = that is the real achievement. 🤔

raven at 1644 , that design was figured out by Christopher Dunn, who on the tv show Ancient Aliens figured out that the pyramid is a machine that generates Hydrogen and shoots it out the upper shaft, perhaps into a spaceships fuel port, the original stone cap had the Nazi symbol, which is the egyptian symbol for the letter H , which stands for Hydrogen

raven , i would make an older list of wonders, like the city of Atlantis, some youtuber found it in Mauritania, but the local govt just finished demolishing some old ruins when they went to check it out in person, they bulldozed some old red and white rocks tthe same color as they were fabled to be made of, under the Atlas mountains to the north. in northern Africa.
i would also put Puma Puku , in an recent episode of Ancient Aliens, they had some computer whizzes use the mapped out pieces they found there and put together a cgi model of what they thought the ancient city would look like , it looked cool like an ancient chinese temple in south america
i would also put Stone Henge, it originally had more stones and they were perfectly molded i think
i would also put the Great Sphinx, it originally had a different head, either that of a cat or a dog, i still don't know
but it points to either Leo or Sirius depending on when it was built, and i think it was built the same time as the great pyramid, which might be 25 or 27 thousand years ago

Make it slippery for the stones to move? (pause) No? (sighs) Fine. What an EXCELLENT educator you are? I am thinking you have THREE Masters degrees and NOT just two. The third one being a TEACHING degree. But...knowing you...that talent like SO MANY others probably just comes naturally! High Five my fellow Canadian! Didn't the Statue of Zeus existed during Herodutus lifetime? I know its "strange" to quote a videogame but in AC Odyssey both Herodutus and the statue are present. I then confirmed the dates and it seemed correct. Fidias was contemporary of Herodutus.

Raven, the Great Pyramid is around 25 thousand years old, not built in 2500 bc, more like 25000 bc, if you watch some videos by Carl Munck called the Code, there are three videos in that series, he found out the real dates of the ancient structures by using math, where did you get your date? a book? where did they get their date?

I will tell you about one city that is rich in successive cultural treasures, such as the civilization of Almustatil, the civilization of Thamud, the civilization of the Dadan Kingdom, the civilization of the Kingdom of Lihyan, and the civilization of the Nabataeans.
National Graphic produced a film about the kingdom of Dadan
And the Al-Ula Authority produced a film about the almustatil civilization on RUclips entitled: Architects of Ancient Arabia
It is rich in writings and rock drawings from several successive civilizations. It is like a museum with an open space without limit, because the Arabian Peninsula is rich in many writings, inscriptions and drawings of multiple civilizations.
You can benefit from Dr. Eid Al Yahya's programs in watching the civilizations of Al-Ula and other Arab civilizations in the Arabian Peninsula

raven , the Great Pyramid wasn't built by Khufu, some lame archaeologist couldn't find anything written inside it, so he painted some bad grafiti in red paint on a wall in heiroglyphs he translated himself so it would read khufu, khufu had nothing to do with ithe was the person who made plaque that said he made the sphinx, even though it was clear that the sphinx existed long before the egypytians, so did the great pyramid
