the only thing budget about gold is the price .. people forget that portra is a pro film ,90% of people should really be shooting gold the majority of the time ... there is nothing wrong with it at all .
Robbie Maynard you a star in the making, the content of your videos is head and shoulders above the rest I’m sure you’re going to have great success shortly with in the community. Keep up the good work. Northern Spain supports you.
Hi, Bennie. Nice video, my friend. I really enjoyed watching it again. And the colors are indeed wonderful in this film. When I look at the videos of film shooters like you, I immediately think of my old darkroom. Developing it and then making prints. But for me those days are over, I stick to digital. And I can enjoy that too, but film is different. Thank you for sharing this video. Until the next edition, Antoine.
Thank you. Budget is already overrun this month already and now you tell me I need more Kodak Gold in the fridge ;) To be honest, I like Ektar more because it's cleaner, sharper and a bit more punchy in my opinion. But it's also a lot more expensive...
It feels strange to hear the phrase “super cheap” describing a $7 roll of film. Yeah, I’m old. It doesn’t seem that long ago that a roll of film was only $2 or $3.
The only other way I've found to shoot 120 affordably is going for black and white stuff and that's a whole different sport. Always love to see a new video.
I love the Gold. The price point is a big thing anymore so I have more Gold than Portra in my freezer. I’m not sure about the thinnest of the film but it is easier to scratch when scanning than most. Oh, it is indeed hip to be square
I found it really haad to reconcile the color grading of your video with the photographs and what I know to be 120 gold when I shoot it. I guess it was just a jarring disconnect for me. You betta take her out for dinna.
I find it difficult too sometimes. I look at what I have on video and I look at the negative and they are worlds apart and I cant decipher which I like better sometimes. Maybe this game isnt for me anymore
@@RobbieMaynardCreates I think you just need to play a few more games and not worry about it personally. My suggestion would be to start with the film, because that is the central theme, and then perhaps try to match with the video which is always going to be way off from reality. Either way, keep it up, love your posts. Happy spring.
My only issue with Gold is that lab scans seem to default to like comically orange and magenta tones, which are super annoying to correct out when you don't have the capacity to scan them yourself.
I know this stuff is very thin. Hard to use in wooden cameras. I used this stuff in my panoram Kodak no.1 and lost half a roll because it ripped in the camera. I ran portra 160 400 and ilford delta 100 panf 50 without any issues but both rolls of the gold got some damage.
Great stuff Robbie-also, thanks for leaving your beautiful images on screen long enough for us to take a closer look at them. Much appreciated.
Wake up babe, new Robbie Maynard video just dropped!
haha I love this

Technically gold is a "pro" film too

Thanks bud! Im not sure who Bennie is but I appreciate it lol
@@RobbieMaynardCreates Sorry, my friend. I meant Robbie. Just a stupid Dutch mistake, man.

I feel you my friend! Ektar was still pretty budget friendly last year its harder to hit that checkout button
Totally agree. I love this Gold 120 on 120. Large dynamic potential and of course “cheap”.
Love all your stuff Robbie! Been wanting to try square format for a while, now I definitely want to try it!
Its probably the cheapest medium format cameras to get into! Get after it bud
literally just ordered a couple of rolls this week … and look at this ! Robbie with the heat.
"You can shoot more, spend less, great prices, great deals: K-Mart" 😂
I am glad someone appreciated my effort
Can't say I've seen anyone else overexpose by a stop, but the results look great! I'll be sure to give it a try. Thanks for the inspiration Robbie
Thanks buddy!
Thanks you to share withnus this beautiful Northampton sunset 😉👍
Happy to my friend!

I feel you.. its a sad reality
Honestly for the price and how it performs it cant be beat, with digital scans and ability to post process you can do so much
Gold STAYS in the rotation 🗣️🗣️🗣️

Always love to see a new video.
Thanks bud!
Good stuff. Just bought some Gold and have it waiting at my parents. Ready for some portraits
Love it!
Great material!! I love Kodak Gold! I get some decent results with +2/3 exposition on it.
Northampton Mass is a damn sight prettier than the Northampton UK I grew up in. Thanks for sharing
haha I will show you some of the ugly soon
Love me some Kodak Gold. Lovely shots too man.
Thank you my friend!
Love it always enjoy your videos keep up the good work by the way love the tshirts one my favorite 3:16 Austin 💪
GIMME A HELL YEAH!
Another banger; thanks dude! 🤙
Thanks Josh

props to the Huey Lewis reference and I can attest, it scratches soooo easily.
"We are not doing it because it's easy, but because it's hard". About going to the moon - JFK, in 1961 I think...
Yessir! I was being sarcastic but maybe my JFK impression just wasn't strong enough lol
Fun as always. Thanks.
Thats all I aim for

haha more reason to develop at home!
I'm curious, what do you do for a living, Robbie?
Another great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!

Im glad someone else has noticed
Why don’t you think Kodak Vision 50 and 250 are the bargains?
They are but they are getting more expensive. Also, dealing with the remjet after development is such an awful thing to deal with lol
Starting to see a fair few Kodak Gold 200 videos popping up. So expect the price to start climbing.
I remember when it came out, there were some companies pricing it more than Portra 400 but the internet corrected them sir..
@@RobbieMaynardCreatesyou’re not wrong. But you know how they be.
I feel like for 120 this is all I shoot. I never buy portra because I cant afford it.
same here my dude
Do you shoot at ISO 100 ?
I usually rate it 200 and overexpose or shoot even depending on the scene
