I feel like the paragon/renegade system needs a rework. It was far from perfect, but it can serve as the basis for whatever they do with it. Seeing Mike's comments, I think he agrees.
I really hope they'd make it possible to max out both bars in one run. It was awesome mixing up the responses. And getting badass Shepard. But they also need renegade choices to feel rewarding and not just be the option that gets a squadmate killed or innocent person, because who wants to make that choice in a game? I also liked how certain missions would unlock if we got our paragon or renegade high enough which would be a neat way to get more XP in a run.
As a Mass Effect fan, I don't think the concern of the Mass Effect community is about Dragon Age, but rather about Andromeda, because Andromeda almost completely destroyed the saga ! A lot of us (the majority) were so disapointed about Andromeda... Some liked it,n but not many and the rest of the Andromeda support came from newbies who didn't know anything about the Mass Effect Trilogy Andromeda was such a catastrophe that EA Games closed BioWare Montreal who made Andromeda (BioWare Edmonton was the one who made the Mass Effect Trilogy), Mike Gamble was on the head of the BioWare Montreal team, so that can add some fears in some of us as well But adding the the Andromeda bad experience, what was worrying is that even Casey Hudson (who wasn't part of Andromeda) didn't succeed in doing a very good video game after Andromeda... He has made Anthem (that video game disappointed a lot of players) as well But I think we all know that the next Mass Effect will be decisive... It might save the saga or definitely bury it In my opinion, the team working on the next Mass Effect know that as well, they are very aware about that, and they won't fail because they know that it might be the last chance for the Mass Effect saga, but even for their career, as EA doesn't like losing money
To be fair, Andromeda is no longer viewed as the disaster that it was when it first launched. It has aged fairly well and most of the current Mass Effect fandom just views it as fine. Newer fans seem to enjoy it based on steam reviews
Andromeda wasn't a "disaster." It was just people whining about glitches and pretending they knew anything about the game itself. Hell, people still cry about it not being directly related to Shepard. Meaning they didn't play the originals or at least didn't pay attention at all to the stories of the og trilogy or andromeda. 😂
@@TheJohhnyE Let's be honest : Andromeda was a total mess, not only about the glitches ! The scenario is awfully poor, the characters are completely empty, no emotions in that game, no ambiance, not any good and memorable music, no suspens, no fun, no real biotic powers, no charisma for the characters, not any epic sentence, epic moment, , epic choice, nothing ! But that's not all : the repetitiveness of it all mde it soooooooo boring ! Nomad, Jetpack, scan, machine gun kert, machine gun kert, Nomad, Nomad, Nomad, scan, scan, vault, Nomad, vault, jetpack, jetpack, vault, machine gun kert, jetpack, scan, Nomad, machine gun kert, scan... Nomad, Nomad, Kert, Kert.... This is an open world game, but totally empry, it takes you hours to go from point A to point B, the game was filled with Fed Ex mission, totally empty and bringing nothing to the story The flowers and the plants are the ones we find on anime for very little children Not any moving moment, not any feeling or fun at all, no attachment to any of the characters, none are a Liara, a Tali, a Mordin, a Grunt, a Garrus, a Thane, etc., and incoherences in abundance... For instance : Sara Ryder saw her father die before her very eyes, her brother was in coma, and do you think she makes nightmares, do you think she cries, ? Shepard saw a child killed by the reapers, one she didn't knew at all, she just met him some minutes before, she is a military and it was haunting her with relentless nightmares ! Nothing even close in Andromeda, Sara (or Scott if you take the brother) feels nothing ! And she's nothing like a military ! Think one second : her father, her brother... Not a tear, not a PTSD, nothing ! Not a single second ! We have an open world ? Yes, but doing what into it ? And you know what ? You kill kert, you drive 2 seconds (or more or less, if you want), and the exact same kert reappear !!!!!!! At the exact same place where you killed them !!!! And the Nomad (too clean and shiny to be credible, by the way, it likes like a tiny toy rather that real car !), the Nomad is so slow, you can boost it for 4 seconds, so with that big space in that open world, to reach the point B from the point A before your next birthday, you need to boost the Nomad again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again and again because your booster is a poor gadget that has a 4 sec. effect ! If you compare to the Mass Effect trilogy, Andromeda is absolutely NOWHERE nearby its level ! BioWare Montreal could make an better game, it was very easy to add some little things that would make it good, not as good as the Mass effect trilogy, but good enough, and they messed it up ! For instance : the jetpack we use everytime we need to climb a cliff really was an easy solution... No risk, no difficulty, no fear to fall, nothing... You just press the button and your character is at the top of the Empire State Building in 1 sec ! And the scan, eache step you take you use it, again and again and again !!!! The Tempest ? What a lack of personality ! "Personality ? For a spacecraft ???" you may say... Yes, the Normandy had a lot of personality, it was like a full character ! Nothing even close for the Tempest, it cold, clean, without any style proper to it, just the void ! A spacecraft like 1.000 other ones, nothing special Oh, and we can talk about the fake and stupid copy of Liara T'Soni : Peebee ! That character is the full shame for Asari species ! So stupid, so gross, so badly copied from the wonderful and incredibly smart Liara !!! Peebee is a a clumsy and disastrous copy of Liara T'Soni who does not even reach the level of Liara's toe ! That game has no real music, no real moment, no emotions of any kind, no epic choice, no critical moment, it is just kill, kill, kill, kill, and bring stuff from Mister A to Mister B ! That's what is Andromeda Even EA Games knew that ! That's why EA dismantled the BioWare Montreal team, fire some of them, dispatched the other ones and closed the studio ! To be honest, personaly, as a Mass Effect fan, I felt completely mocked, insulted and offended by Andromeda !
i would like to see it return but only if this is more than 1 game...like maybe a trilogy or something....i dont see how effective it would be for 1 title
I'm afraid I don't trust Bioware anymore. They aren't the same company that made the games we all love so dearly. Don't pre-order this game. Wait until your favorite content providers review the game before dropping a dime. Don't believe anything gaming journalists say. Don't be a simp for Bioware.
I’d watch out for content providers reviews as well, a lot of them will go with trends to help their analytics. The most reliable form of reviews come from steam, where you have to own the game to write a review, and you can view the hours played for every user that writes one.
@@MrFightmonster118 the average steam reviewer might not have the same taste in games though. Look at veilguard which is a well made game that sees generally positive reviews but disappointed people that were fans of true RPGs (vs action RPGs)
Only reason why I say steam reviews are the most reliable is because you have to own the game to leave a review. And it shows how many hours you’ve put into the game at the time you write the review. So it’s somewhat easy to filter who’s actually put the time and effort into giving a game an honest shot
@@MrFightmonster118 I agree it's good for player reviews, but for critic reviews it's always best to find someone you trust who plays games fully before reviewing eg: mortismal does tons of 100% rpg playthroughs before reviewing.
Gamers today will find something wrong even if nothing is actually wrong. There are channels and groups who will attack this game regardless of what's in it because thats what they do. I'm just going to play it and ignor the noise.
I'm also mad dragon age didn't let you be evil, even though the previous games didn't really let you be outright evil either. But we don't mention that because otherwise we would have to admit we didnt play the series or at least dont remeber any of it. 😂
It's hard to trust a new generation in a company that created your favorite game world ever, and then brutally drug it out into the street and intentionally dismembered and murdered it. I will not forgive that. Still, is good news to hear the internal team working on the new M.E. is different and more importantly experienced with the original.
@MrFightmonster118 dare I hope for a true spiritual successor to the original trilogy? I'm afraid to even begin to get my hopes up after the trauma of what they did to my beloved Dragon Age.
Been following this for a bit, I hope Mike Gamble is right because I am one of those who is worried about ME5. Especially when I see that they felt the need to put pronouns on a freakin boardgame!!! Why??? I bought are played front to back all 3 ME games AND the LE, on multiple platforms. It's my favorite game of all time. But seeing how modern games and game industry is changing, I am not enthusiastic about it. So, no preorder, wait a month till after release, don't trust the big game review websites, wait for the players verdict. Veilguard was a wakeup call, but that same shit has been going on longer. I see it in Hogwarts Legacy too. Anyway, Yes, morality system is a must, and it should influence more than conversations alone, also affect the direction the story is going. My ME play-throughs, 2 out of 3, full renegade.
They have a reputation to rebuild, so I doubt they'd lie about such a significant detail.
Indeed
That was a great answer from Mike Gamble regarding having the option to choose being the most important, not the majority pick.
Completely agree. Such a reassuring thing for him to say!
I feel like the paragon/renegade system needs a rework. It was far from perfect, but it can serve as the basis for whatever they do with it. Seeing Mike's comments, I think he agrees.
Agreed! I think it has the foundation of a really good role play system but it definitely needs to be refined

If they bring back the paragon/renegade system, I am sure it will be quite different from how it was in the trilogy

I like the ME3 ending too. (Post Extended Cut DLC of course)
I keep thinking of doing a renegade run and then remember I actually care about people. Even if they are virtual. Damn you feelings.
Just did a renegade run myself. Hurt bad.
I’ve only done one and I can’t bring myself to do it again lol. This my favorite game series ever and the characters feel like family
thanks for doing the good work.
