Strikers have better luck taking down O'Malley than grapplers because of their better footwork and distance control. Even aljo said it was hard to shoot good shots on O'Malley for that reason. Plus, O'Malley is a little bit better than Sandhagen as a striker(mosty offensively) but his defense(outside of leg kick checking) is left to be desired. We see he's vunerable to the body. And a high pace against strikers going to the body(peep the Yan fight) gas him out bad. Especially once the grappling is involved. Sandhagen's grappling is underrated. I think at this point he might be a better offensive grappler than Yan, at least is some areas(takedown wise, Yan probably better. Control and damage wise, give me sandhagen all day) but still. Sandhagen is great at striking while moving backwards. He is precise and extremely technical with his strikes and he is efficient with his striking movement which helps him conserve energy during a fight. He isn't explosive with his movements because he doesn't need to. His striking style is isn't about explosivity its about precise efficient volume striking with no wasted movement. Thats what I see when I watch Sandhagen fight. Also, He isn't afraid to take risks sometimes with his striking for example the flying knees, spinning backfists he does sometimes.
When you were critiquing Dustin's resume, you said that the 2nd Max fight was on short notice. Max didn't have as much time as he does for this Gaethje fight, but you're acting like it was on a week's notice. Poirier was just the better fighter that night. Also, you say the Dan Hooker win was good for Islam when he literally accepted that fight a week after he had just fought. You are right about Dustin and Dan being a war but that imo was a prime hungry Dan Hooker so I think that is a great win for DP

Sandhagen is great at striking while moving backwards. He is precise and extremely technical with his strikes and he is efficient with his striking movement which helps him conserve energy during a fight. He isn't explosive with his movements because he doesn't need to. His striking style is isn't about explosivity its about precise efficient volume striking with no wasted movement. Thats what I see when I watch Sandhagen fight. Also, He isn't afraid to take risks sometimes with his striking for example the flying knees, spinning backfists he does sometimes.

When you were critiquing Dustin's resume, you said that the 2nd Max fight was on short notice. Max didn't have as much time as he does for this Gaethje fight, but you're acting like it was on a week's notice. Poirier was just the better fighter that night. Also, you say the Dan Hooker win was good for Islam when he literally accepted that fight a week after he had just fought. You are right about Dustin and Dan being a war but that imo was a prime hungry Dan Hooker so I think that is a great win for DP

Sandhagen has really only lost to legit world champion caliber opponents from Aljo onwards, I know styles make fights but it’s hard to pick against him.
