In a lot of sports, I think the GSP "Gracie logic" makes sense, for example, the Babe Ruth of 1920s probably wouldn't touch some of the pitchers today, but the gap between him and the players of his era was SO big, he was hitting more homeruns than entire teams and that matters. But in mma, what Gracie was doing compared to today was a completely different sport, it wasn't a competition between "mixed martial artists" it was a competition between different martial arts.

My brother LHW only had 25-35 fighters in it when Jones was champ. The division was and still is extremely shallow that only takes away from Jones goat argument. LHW has always been very low skilled even if it was the popular division for awhile with names like Shogun, Rampage and Liddell
