- Remove silence automatically with Recut: getrecut.com
This is a quick tutorial on how to import XML files (and FCPXML) files into DaVinci Resolve. These can be created by Recut with a bunch of premade cuts where the silence is removed.
THAT WAS AMAZING. No long intro with an intro sequence and then an intro into who you are and where you came from. Thank you
One of the best tutorials in the recorded history. Tank you.
Almost lost my sleep not finidng the solution to import my xml... and it got resolve in 20 secondes with your video XD XD Thank you !
Thank you. I'd forgotten how to do this :) One thing I encountered when copying all my Resolve files to a new computer -- when importing the fpxml file, Resolve didn't find the clips even though they were still in the same directory. Easy workaround, though -- when it asks you to search a different directory just click Yes. Then maneuver to the same directory the files are already in. Resolve will find them this time.
Thanks for your great software, it's made my editing life a lot easier and cut down my silence removal time by more than 50%, which is huge for me.
Awesome to hear! Glad you were able to get the files linked up again too.
Great stuff 🙌
Hi, thanks for your software, it's the best software that I've used.
Lovely to hear that :)
thank you so much dude. i love you
Thanks Man, very easy and quickly
Glad it helped!
thanks a lot straight to the point
Great video! Almost everything I needed.
Just a few questions though, for some reason all the cuts are there but the actual media isn’t. I get a notification that “79 files were not found”
How do your files show up in your timeline because I don’t see mine. Just the cuts with no thumbnail pictures.
Also., can you make a quick tutorial on how to export the timeline for Final Cut?
Thanks!
Hmm it sounds like Recut is doing something wrong there. Can you send me a sample video this is happening with? dave at getrecut com
Final Cut tutorial is a great idea! If you need it immediately, the thing is File > Import > XML... and choose the file. There's not much to do after that other than picking which event to import into.
Hi, do you need access to the source files to do this? For some reason, importing the FCPXML into Davinci doesn't work for me as it usually does with an EDL file. The files appear unlinked after imported. Any idea about that? Many thanks 🙏🏾
Hi man, do you film with a sony camera ? Davinci have troubles with the sony videos for Davinci
Yeah you do need the source files, but even if you have them, that error can happen with some videos when they include their own time offset, if the FCPXML file doesn't take that into account. Recut is supposed to handle this, so if your FCPXML file came from Recut this is definitely a bug! Please email me if so (support at getrecut com).
Thank you very much!!!
Thanks a lot!!! Liked
Hi, thanks for this instruction. However, my timeline shows up with the audio off by about 10-15 seconds in delay. Is there an obvious reason for this?
Nothing obvious I can think of. Did the timeline file come from Recut? If so shoot me an email support at getrecut com and we can troubleshoot!
hey thanks a lot - worked like a charm but it appears I'm not the only one having issues with sony clips? Mty timeline transfers perfectly from fcpx into davinci from an xml file, and all my DJI clips are there while all my sony clips are missing/offline even though they are from the same directory. Is there a fix for this?
I figured this out! I should make a video... but in the meantime: 1. Drag in the Sony clips that DaVinci couldn't find into the media bin. 2. Right-click on each one, go to Clip Attributes. Pick the Timecode tab. 3. Set both boxes to 00:00:00:00, hit OK and then the clips should light up on the timeline.
thanks a lot for the reply man! I found a video about it in the meantime but appreciate you getting back to me. This was in fact the only thing that worked!@@RecutApp
@@spyrosvt Awesome, glad that worked!
Hey! I followed your instructions but no pop up window shows up where I can see my XML files and export them. Can you help with this?
Yo! I'm not totally sure which popup you mean, but if it's the one at 0:30 just give it another try - sometimes Resolve doesn't show that one for some reason?? If before that, make sure you're on the Cut tab at the bottom there. That media area looks very similar to other tabs and it doesn't work the same in those.
Ok will try that. Thanks a lot!!@@RecutApp
when I do this, some of the clips don't link. any advice?
Is your XML/FCPXML file coming out of Recut? Or from somewhere else? If it's from Recut, shoot me an email because that's probably a bug! support at getrecut com. If it's something else though I'm not sure, it could be a handful of things, but usually (assuming the files are in the right places) it's because of some internal timing in the files not matching the video, or variable framerate video.
Unfortunately, I have a rather annoying problem. When I add the same file to Davinci, I have 1 stereo audio track. However, when imported as XML, two mono audio tracks are created (right and left). Is it possible to import one stereo audio track using XML file generated by Recut?
I think I used to have it that way and someone wanted it the dual mono way haha. I should probably just make an option for this. In the meantime try the DaVinci fcpxml export, that might have them combined.
@@RecutApp Wow, thank you. Using option to export as fcpxml file, it actually works.
@@Lukasz__1983awesome!
How do we fix the media offline in the timeline? Thanks!!
If the xml or fcpxml file came from Recut, shoot me an email because that's a bug (support at getrecut com) but if not - it's usually due to a mismatch between the internal timing in the file and the timestamps in the xml. The creator of the xml would need to fix it as it's usually a big pain to do by hand. Assuming the files are actually in the right places of course! Check that first :)
@@RecutApp No, it comes from my FCPX xml to Davinci , it is the time code problem with Sony clips..
@@ekphotography Ohh I see. I remember writing code to deal with those Sony files 😅 FCPX ignores those timestamps but DaVinci enforces them so it's a big pain. Maybe I should create some sort of converter tool for these 🤔
@@RecutApp I wish some would , it is ridiculous , I found this RUclips that shows another method working but it does not for me...ruclips.net/video/CBCpPEf9dWU/видео.html
can we import power point xml in davinci resolve
doesn't seem likely 😅
@@RecutApp not getting
how do you do this on windows?
The menus should all be the same.
Questions from a beginner here. I followed your instructors but when I open the file where the video is in, all I see is the xml document. I did try everything you describe in your video. Thanks in advance. Let me know what I’m doing wrong. 😢
Hmm I'm not sure. What happens if you open that xml document with DaVinci's import tool? It's supposed to add the timeline and the related media files to the media bin. I think I've seen sometimes where it does nothing but then works on the second or third try (probably just a Resolve bug).
Yeah, I’ve tired about 10 times. It only sees the xml document. I’ll give black magic a try
@@A.D.ARTDRAWZ Do you get any errors about clips missing or anything like that? You could try opening up the xml file in a text editor (Notepad, TextEdit) and just look at it - if it's pretty short, it might even just be empty.
@@RecutApp no errors. Seems like the only thing that will get on DaVinci is the audio. No video. No error messages.
@@RecutApp I will try to make a video of what I’m seeing on my side and try to send it to you by a link. I’ll try later today.
it is importing few clips other clips are not importing and not even showing in media tab
Is this an XML file that Recut made, or from something else? One thing I've seen go wrong sometimes is if the media has its own time offset and the XML file doesn't match it, then Resolve will say it can't find the media. If it's a Recut thing drop me an email support at getrecut . com and I can give you a hand!
What if after hitting open davinci crashes?
Well that's not very good 😂 Is that XML file from Recut or somewhere else? I'd guess something is wrong with the file, but I'd also try it a couple times just in case it was a random crash in DaVinci.
@@RecutApp it's from lumafusion 😕
@@Kwakhanya. Ah ok. I would reach out to lumafusion support, they might be able to figure out what's causing the crash. You will be their favorite person if you can include the xml file AND the source video with your initial request 😁
Ok thanks man let me try that
no matter what I do it only imports the first audio track, not the second one
thats the only thing stopping me from using recut
Hm, it could be a couple things. (1) Try using .xml instead of .fcpxml (FCPXML doesn't do well with multiple audio tracks). (2) If you're getting multiple *copies* of the first track (like, it shows 2 audio tracks but both are track 1's audio) that's a known Resolve bug, and can be fixed by selecting all the clips, right-clicking, going to Clip Properties, and fixing the channels in the Audio tab.
@@RecutApp ur the best, lol
this is amazing, I'll def buy the full version! thx so much
