Thank you Dave, I'm getting some good use out of Recut. Been using it for about a month. It has definitely saved me some time and tedium! I'm eagerly waiting for manual cuts / red sections!
Nice! Manual cuts are already there today :) In Clips mode, click the scissors or press B to add a cut. Then you can click on a clip and delete it. In Segments mode you can click on blue/red sections and delete them, and can now drag the edges of red sections to fine tune them too.
@@RecutApp Thanks! Yes, dragging the red sections is super nice! Is there a way to manually create a red section where none exists?
@@SeekersHollow A couple ways: you can click on a blue section and delete it (turns the whole thing red), or if you want it smaller, make manual cuts where you want the edges, and select the middle blue area and delete it.

I've tried doing this for a feature I've just colored, which I edited in Premiere, but still no luck. BUT I FOUND ANOTHER SOLUTION: I've tried exporting the XML files per part. And the sweet spot for the duration that it can handle without shutting down the software is around 10mins. After importing 10 parts of XML(timeline) because my final picture locked is around 1 hour and 45mins, I then exported my whole timeline. It solved the issue, and it opened the 1hr45mins xml file from Premiere. Hope this helps.

How to import a Premiere Pro timeline into Recut?
It can't go that direction unfortunately, can only go Recut to Premiere. It's best to use Recut as the first step in the process.
Questions from a beginner here. I followed your instructors but when I open the file where the video is in, all I see is the xml document. I did try everything you describe in your video. Thanks in advance. Let me know what I’m doing wrong. 😢
Hmm I'm not sure. What happens if you open that xml document with DaVinci's import tool? It's supposed to add the timeline and the related media files to the media bin. I think I've seen sometimes where it does nothing but then works on the second or third try (probably just a Resolve bug).
Yeah, I’ve tired about 10 times. It only sees the xml document. I’ll give black magic a try
@@A.D.ARTDRAWZ Do you get any errors about clips missing or anything like that? You could try opening up the xml file in a text editor (Notepad, TextEdit) and just look at it - if it's pretty short, it might even just be empty.
@@RecutApp no errors. Seems like the only thing that will get on DaVinci is the audio. No video. No error messages.

Hey, I'm a user of Recut and I have an idea that could help me A LOT. In my videos I have to zoom in on a bunch of parts to help the viewer understand what I'm talking about when I'm playing. Maybe you could create something that allow me to rough select the portion of the video and do it for me (with or without an animation would be great). That takes me a lot of time to do and if it was simpler would make me edit everything directly on Recut. Imagine this Playback and select the screen and from the start of the timeline it puts a zoom for X amount of seconds that can be adjust later or be the default when including the zoom. Maybe it's a good idea for a lot of people, but for me would be insane :)

no matter what I do it only imports the first audio track, not the second one thats the only thing stopping me from using recut
Hm, it could be a couple things. (1) Try using .xml instead of .fcpxml (FCPXML doesn't do well with multiple audio tracks). (2) If you're getting multiple *copies* of the first track (like, it shows 2 audio tracks but both are track 1's audio) that's a known Resolve bug, and can be fixed by selecting all the clips, right-clicking, going to Clip Properties, and fixing the channels in the Audio tab.

Awesome update! With editing now, Recut is perfect to continue the rough draft for videos. Being able to focus on the edit BEFORE importing into DaVinci is so good. Helps my workflow :) :)

I film with 2 cameras. 1 at 30fps and the other at 29.97fps. I’m having drift issues. Any way to fix this before chopping things up?
If the playback is drifting in Recut but not in other editors, then that sounds like a Recut bug to me, and I'll need a copy of the files to try to reproduce it. It could be the framerate difference, but it could also be a variable framerate issue (shoot me an email, support at getrecut com). If the files themselves drift out of sync though, and it happens in other tools too, then I think you'd have to fix that beforehand because Recut doesn't have any time stretching features currently. You'd need to stretch them in another tool and export new files, then bring those into Recut.
Is there a timeline when we will get new features like removing unwanted filler words, like "ums?"
It's in the works but I don't have a good sense of when it'll be ready.

From what I see in the various tutorials, you only have to drag the file inside the window to make the pauses appear in evidence, in the version I have, which is the latest one downloadable from the site, nothing happens, I am not even able to select the ‘remove silence’ button. no red section appears, can someone help me?
Does it never load the waveform for you, like it's stuck with blue and green bars? I've been tracking that problem, and gotten a few reports but haven't been able to reproduce it yet. Can you email me support at getrecut com, I'd love to get the log file from you to help find out where it's getting stuck.

I'm sorry that it's just after the update, but I'd like to customize the cut editing button (currently set to B by default) and add a keyboard shortcut key. With blade cuts and front and rear ripple cuts, it is possible to perform cut editing similar to video editing software, so it is likely to improve work efficiency. I would appreciate it if you would consider updating. thank you!
Yep indeed! I've been planning to add keyboard customization. Having some keys for cutting forward and back would be great too, I agree.

wow i just found this app and it is amazing. the cuts happens instantly to were as other auto removers takes 10+ minutes to process & they make mistakes to where i have to fix it. but this is literally perfect! thank you so much dave for giving all of us a chance to try it first. ill definitely be buying it when i get the chance! 💯 i wanted to provide one suggestion. let us delete certain clips that we don't want to include in the export

When I try to export with DaVinci Resolve.(fcpxml) as usual, the message "No header 'path' provided" is displayed and I cannot export. I am doing exactly the same work as before. Even if I try to upload a new video and export the cut data as usual, the same alert will be displayed. I can't use it normally, so I would like to see an improvement as soon as possible.
Yeah, sorry about that. I just pushed out a fix for this - you should see v4.0.1 is available if you restart the app. Turned out it wasn't handling special characters in filenames correctly :(

Thanks! No immediate plans for that stuff, but maybe some day. In general, I'm prioritizing automation features that save time over things that could be better served by another tool.

Amazing!!! But can you add a better gestion for multi track audio video? I edit gameplay video, and I have a multi track: 1 audio for my voiceover, 1 audio for game and 1 audio for my friend audio. But recut choice automatically which audio levels cut. Can you add a function that can choice which audio level cut? Thanks ❤️🥹
Ohh yeah, this has been on my wishlist for a while too. You mean a separate threshold per file right? I've been stuck on how best to do the UI for it, but the data is there, just gotta figure out where to put it.

Hello, great update! However, I found a problem with the size of the file name, the letters are large as shown in the image below. Another question: I would love to have a shortcut to scroll the timeline sideways, in addition to zooming in or out (perhaps scrolling the mouse button to move around the timeline and Ctrl + mouse scrolling to zoom ), would be very useful!
And when I have several audio channels in the same video, is there no way to delete the channels I don't want? (only disable to ignore the audio?)
Saw your email about this, I think it's a scaling thing, gonna try to reproduce it. The label drawing code changed a bit in this release so I could see how something might've gotten mixed up there.
Re: deleting audio channels, not yet, right now you can only mute or ignore. I'm going to add a way to detach the clips so they can be deleted.
