    While a lot of stuff had to be cut out or changed from the graphic novel, I think this movie really captures the heart and soul of the book! Anyone who enjoyed the movie should definitely give it a read too.

      It's definitely a different story, but it maintains all the same heart of the original comic. Strangely enough, I noticed that a lot of the scenes that carried over were the moments of Nimona and Balister bonding, which I thought was pretty interesting.

      Completely agree. The creators knew they weren’t going to fit the whole story into a film so they focused on the characters and themes and it worked. It worked so so well.

      How I see this adaption is instead of just going through each scene and trying to make it work as a movie, like many others they instead decided to tear it down to most basic aspects. And rebuild it into their own story, that even though shares similarities is its own thing. It took the DNA of the comic and created a whole new story, world and new interpretations of these characters from those building blocks. It is a pretty cool way of doing an adaption and it honored the comic without retreading the same stuff the comic did but not as well because of time or censorship getting in the way. Even though I do prefer the comic, this is still a great film that has it's own identity and messages of it's own.
      And the best part is now there are twice as many Nimona in the world, and if you enjoy one of them you will probably love the other. And as both are so different you don't have to worry about the film spoiling the enjoyment of the comic or vice versa.

      well if you want the spoiler well:
      it's a bar fight. Also the tensions between those two are way more extreme in the book. There is way more angst and baggage between those two. Let's just say Ballister had way more to say about the whole thing with the arm.
      That is all I will say, read the book. It is very different than the movie, it pretty much has it's own story. Pretty much all the movie directly took from the book is in the video. Nimona also acts similarly in both but it is really its own thing I really recommend it. It's fun and easily one of my favorite books.

    I didn't like the movie, they made nimona much more violent for the sake of violence, and far less likeable. I don't like how they changed her from being tested on as a weapon of the institute, to being this great historical evil. Also as a trans person, the line where she says "Im not a people" really does not sit right with me, especially as she is meant to be a trans allegory, I don't want people thinking that I am not a person

    • @AnadynTheCursed
      @AnadynTheCursed Год назад +18

      As another trans person, I respectfully disagree.
      She was violent in the comic, too, she very graphically killed people there, including [spoiler] - I'd say that where movie Nimona has more *action*, comic Nimona has more *violence*, or, at the very least, they're even. Her origin (aside from being tested, which is only part of her story) is left ambiguous in the original, with Gloreth's Beast brought up as one of the options. As for "I'm not a people", she's definitely saying "I'm not like 'normal' people" rather than "I'm not a person", and the former, while not a universally accepted way to talk, rang very true to me.

    • @themysticals8481
      @themysticals8481 Год назад +12

      Seriously? She was violent in the comic, and she may start annoying for others, but she gets warmed up throughout the way. And being tested on would be too predictable and the author loved that change. Oh, and for I'm not a people scene, she obviously meant she's not like other people, as a trans, I know that well, she doesn't mean people people, keep up with it, if you don't like it, fine, but with crap you said doesn't make any sense at all

    • @gektoast4968
      @gektoast4968 Год назад

      Well… she isn’t a people. She literally is not human. Her human form is just as much her as every single other form she can take- that’s why she said she can’t stand not transforming. Because that is her nature.

    • @ryankramer8779
      @ryankramer8779 Год назад +8

      That's not what "people" means in that context. "People" also refers to a town or civilization. She's an anomaly amongst humanity and a rebel with a cause against the kingdom, so her saying, "I'm not a people," is very accurate and not the same thing as her saying, "I'm not a person." Those indicate two different things
