coming back to this after having watched the movie it is INCREDIBLE and i am so glad netflix pulled through, i think my favorite part was how there were more obvious queer characters, and a gay relationship that had realistic amounts of friction given the circumstances, but also had multiple allegories that i thought were incredible (namely nimona's experiences being almost identical to my own, as someone genderfluid, especially with the lines "and now you're a boy?" "i am today")
It out now and yes…it was worth the wait and honestly I’m watched it many times over and each time it gives the exact same amount of enjoyability even though I remember almost everything if it by now

this is such a blow for lgbtq+ representation on the big screen. The fact another studio that didn't have to follow the Disney rule book ended up being another cog in the machine is such a bleak future for western animation. With less independent animation studios and Disney buying everything, it's stifling western animation's experimentation in visuals and story telling.
Just heard this film was revived by Netflix............ just when I said in a community post showing the loss of Blue Sky that we lost Nimona as well. All I can really say is: I AM SO FUCKING HYPED LET'S GOOOOOO
I don't like that it's being called the LGBTQ movie by anyone. That's not the point of the book. It's not some stupid token meant to get money from the LGBTQ community. It looks interesting but i don't trust the lgbt promotion they shove into new projects as they get cancelled or blocked from around the world so it needs to be safe or it will be cancelled like owl house did.
Exactly. People defining a story only by what demographic it represents is honestly insulting. Stories should be able to stand on their own as stories, while representing whomever the writers choose, NOT the other way around
Luckily today has come out on Netflix. I just want to point out how pathetic the company is. First they pander about inclusiveness with a black Little Mermaid but then they cancel an LGBT movie. Congrats.

Fucking phenomenal final product. Holy fucking shit.
I read the book a few years ago and loved it. The movie adaptation being canceled is such a loss :[
So what did you think about the movie now? 😁😁
@@EdgyZiggy omg i totally forgot about this videa thank you so much for replying!!!! I absolutely loved the movie, I thought it was so funny and still quite tragic, and the artstyle is AMAZING. what did you think? :]
@@soreandscary
Much of the same. Movie was incredibly solid and I have not read the book so I just saw it as it's own thing rather than an adaptation. It's a really good time. I loved it 😁
@@EdgyZiggy Me too!!! I read the book many years ago, so I dont really remember how book accurate it was, but nontheless, a reat movie, even if youve never heard of the book at all!
So glad that the movie was able to see the light, I hope it does well and we could possibly see a sequel but just having the movies a miracle!
Wow, I mean it's coming out on Netflix tomorrow. But they have the same cast, and everything. Props to Netflix for that.
NETFLIX SAVED THIS FILM
POV: You’re watching right after you watched movie on Netflix🎉
Blue sky: Peaked on step 1
Illumarion: Hasn’t made a good movie since Despicable Me 1
At least Blue sky made The Peanuts Movie
Illumination did Despicable 2, Sing 1, and Pets 1 and they all got good reviews on IMDB
@@aaronlo9651 that’s pretty fricked
@@aaronlo9651 Just because they got good reviews on IMDB doesn't mean they're actually good movies.
@@kneelessnightcat9164 thats, exactly what good IMDB reviews mean?
@@aaronlo9651 They’re not unique or memorable movies on par with content like Peanuts, The Lego Movie, or Spider Man: Into the Spiderverse. They’re quite generic, really.
I wish someone could revive “Nimona”. Maybe Kandor Graphics from “Justin and the Knights of Valour” can revive it.
How about Sony
@@aaronlo9651 Maybe.
No.
@@tomfriendly2412 Why not?
I want a Friday night funkin mod
It’s really funny, I was watching this video and was lamenting the loss of such a hopefully ground breaking movie, then I look it up, “It’s coming back” And then I look it up to see if I can watch it, it literally came out the day I looked. I will watch it and hopefully enjoy it
Now that I’ve seen it, I’m so happy it came back. And I do wanna see a “Scene” video on it now
Not only did it get made, it turned out amazing
I didn’t realized This came out a year ago and after seeing the trailer for Nimona on Netflix just now I was so confused
aaaaaaa this is just so frustrating, nimona is such an awesome comic and the footage of the movie looks actually so cool
Its out now and it slaps
I remember reading Nimona in highschool
Got damn this brought back memories. The ending too, was rad I loved it. A shame It may not get a film adaptation now
personally im glad that it was canceled but at the same time not
to me the 3d models just dont fit but i think it could work if it were a 2d animated film
I remember reading Nimona back when it webcomic! I'm really surprised that it got that far in the production process and sad that it got cancelled. Hope the movie sees the light of day in the future!
God bless your magic. Guess what just got greenlit again
Thank you for manifesting its revival! haha
I am so glad that this movie rose from it's grave like a Phoenix and it is honestly my favorite movie ever. There are better movies, but none have made me sit there and cry for over 5 minutes straight when the Movie isn't even done yet.
At least the original book still exists.
It’s not cancelled anymore! It’s coming to Netflix in 2023!
This was recommended to me the day after I watched the film…..genuinely one of the best films I’ve seen this year, and one of the best animated films I’ve ever seen period. So glad it got a chance.
Watching this again after the movie is out is crazy! The movie itself is so good, the animation is so incredible, and the representation and message of the movie is so moving.
I saw Nimona (litterally my favorite book ever, I've read it 20+ times) and I had no clue it was going to be a film! I would've loved to see it, it still does suck that Blue Sky doesn't exist anymore :/
Nimona came back to life and is gonna release on Netflix
Here's hoping that we get a 'The Scene That Changed Nemona' now that it's risen from the ashes like a phoenix after everyone thought it was long dead.
So, I'm just now hearing about this movie, and it looks absolutely amazing from what I've seen from the trailer Netflix put out. Watching this video and seeing the struggles that making a movie for this beloved webcomic makes me honestly appreciate it even more. Can't wait to see this movie in a month! :D
coming back to this after having watched the movie
it is INCREDIBLE and i am so glad netflix pulled through, i think my favorite part was how there were more obvious queer characters, and a gay relationship that had realistic amounts of friction given the circumstances, but also had multiple allegories that i thought were incredible (namely nimona's experiences being almost identical to my own, as someone genderfluid, especially with the lines "and now you're a boy?" "i am today")
This aged poorly...
Dazz “ this would’ve been huge for representation”
The owl house “ hold my apple blood”
Nimona should have been released. It could've been good :(
I heard Netflix revived the mega man movie
It out now and yes…it was worth the wait and honestly I’m watched it many times over and each time it gives the exact same amount of enjoyability even though I remember almost everything if it by now
Imagine hugging a big inspiration or a famous person you trust
And they push you down stairs and take your job and career
Thats what Disney did
Screw Disney
SHES BACKKKKKKKK
ITS BACK!
It happened, and it is AMAZING! Like, up there next to Firefly and Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse. I highly recommend it for anyone looking for a good not-just-for-kids animated movie! :D
this is such a blow for lgbtq+ representation on the big screen.
It's one of the greatest stories I've ever read!
This is Nimona. It should be known for Nimona and how amazing her story is, despite there being other great stories involved, she is the focus and I love her character
Yeah
It looks interesting but i don't trust the lgbt promotion they shove into new projects as they get cancelled or blocked from around the world so it needs to be safe or it will be cancelled like owl house did.
Exactly. People defining a story only by what demographic it represents is honestly insulting. Stories should be able to stand on their own as stories, while representing whomever the writers choose, NOT the other way around
I came here because I just finished the movie. Yay!!!! 🎉🎉
I bet you're excited for the announcement that the Nimona movie is back on track for release!!! I look forward to your review of it when it comes out!
Well I guess they uncanceled it
Luckily today has come out on Netflix. I just want to point out how pathetic the company is. First they pander about inclusiveness with a black Little Mermaid but then they cancel an LGBT movie. Congrats.
Well it ain't canceled. Netflix is bringing it back. Very excited to looking forward for it.
Let's just face it one day Disney will bring this back just for the money
Thats why movies exist in the first place, so yeah hopefully they do.
I want a Friday night funkin nimona mod to happen just for a trending promotion
1:25 bro did he seriously not mention the guy wrote kubo and the two strings screenplay and story? That movie is amazing! The other two I don’t know about either
I watched it today! It came out like last week. It's so good!
Now that the movie is OUT, please please please PLEASE do a review!!! It was SO GOOD!!!!
ITS BACK ON
This is my fav Grafic novel of all time i cant FUCKING belive someone is talking about itttttt
ITS COMING OUT IN 10 DAYS
I just had this video appear in my feed, and didnt look at when it came out so was very confused since Nimona is coming out on Netflix on the 30th, So excited to see it.
Although this is sad, it’s fun to see Nimona was brought to Netflix
this aged well
Nimona will debut on Netflix June 30, 2023
Wait they were going to make a film out of this?? I read it when it first came out as a book and I loved it, especially being queer myself. It’s such a shame Bluesky couldn’t stay long enough to produce it
Just watched it, it was sooo good!
I really think Disney has become one of the villains of their own stories. Greedy, miserly, grasping, murderous, evil, all powerful entity.
