Great recommendation, Shubham! We are great fans of Robert Mitchum, but that's one we haven't yet seen, though familiar with the film. Will stay in our thoughts when preparing our next reviews, for sure. Thanks!
Hadn't heard of "Mikey and Nicky" before, but now I want to watch it. Love me some gritty 70's realism, with focus on characters and dialogue. 😎 Not sure what my favourite gangster film is, but I often come to think of "The Long Good Friday" and Bob Hoskins wonderful acting. 🤠
Hey there @pvtmurre ! Thank you for your words. It seems you got yourself settled with a new film adventure then 😄. If you're intrigued in that 70s style of movies, "Mikey and Nicky" is a must. Also, thank you for your contribution to the show! ❤ Bob Hoskins has some great films in the gangster setting indeed, not only "The Long Good Friday", but also "Mona Lisa". We haven't seen "The Long Good Friday" yet, so we'll keep it in mind. Feel free to share the episode should you know anyone who would also be interested in knowing "Mikey and Nicky" 🙏
I love this film - it was one of my first watches when I subscribed to Criterion Channel during the pandemic. I was enthralled by its exploration masculinity and male fragility, far before those were popular talking points in film. Great conversation!
Hey there @moviehusbands. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the film 😊. So cool to hear that your first watch of the film was through the Criterion Channel 💯. They sure are masters at curating old gems. We love them. Thank you for your kind words and good luck with your review channel as well. It looks very good. Congrats!👏👏
