Played college football. Committed D1 to east coast school. Freshman year was a disaster. Destroyed my knee. Sister got deathly ill. Nothing was right and I lost myself. Dad showed up after a failed procedure and we packed my dorm room. I ended up trying out for a better college (Pac12) and somehow made the team. My family cried. I cried. But when I showed up on campus with just a backpack and suitcase - now a Junior (20 years old), no more a freshman - I remember walking into the stadium and this song played in my head. That 80,000 seat stadium sat empty. Still. Ears ringing quiet. And in that numbing silence, I felt absolute. Crushing. Loneliness. I had wandered.
