Back in the "80's" during the Brewers haydays, my family and I would sit in the outfield bleacher "cheap seats" with a radio and listen to Uecker announce the game. He always made me laugh with his antics. Thank you Bob. I still enjoy listening to him when he does the Brewers home games now. I'm also from Wisconsin.
"Met up with him" at Karls Country Market in Menomonee Falls, WI. He was coming out. I was going in. I waved and said "Hey Bob!" and he said "Hey" back.
And when the Brewers won a playoff game the Brewers team liked him so much they gave him a portion of the winnings but he donated it to charity, We love Ueck in the Milwaukee area.
When I went to the US to learn English in the eighties, I got to listen to those great play by play guys like Scully, Caray and Uecker, of course, besides others. I'm a radio guy myself, I prefer to listen to the games on the radio, and to listen to those legends call their games was really great. Thank you for sharing this great video 👍
@@FranciscoPereiro your right, there is something about listening to the game on the radio, its still great and even better when you have guys like this, You are very welcome and thanks for watching, Baseball is the best !! :)
In my APBA Baseball 1966 season replay, Uek crushed a walkoff grand slam at home (he was with the Phillies) against the Astros, AFTER Bob Aspromonte of the 'stros crushed a grand slam to to take the lead in the top of the 8th. Next day, Uek is shagging flies in the outfield. With a tuba...
I attended a bachelor party dinner at the famous Scottsdale restaurant Don & Charlie's in 2001 Spring training. Halfway through dinner that including fried frog legs, we realized that Euk and his lady were a few table away. Baseball celeb sightings at D&C's were common, but we all loved Euk when we were 70's baseball yoots, long before the movie came out. After several minutes of a dozen 35 year old's giggling we realized that no, we're not going over en masse to yell just a bit outside at him. He noticed our colloquy but seemed unfazed by it since a) he's one of America's most beloved and recognizable spirit animals and b) we left him alone until we were leaving. He then appeared to notice were leaving & allowed us to come over and say hello, which we did quickly/respectfully which he appreciated and graciously returned, even though he was in a place and time where he's universally popular and recognizable. James Hetfield hanging out at CBGB's at 8pm on a weeknight. That's my Bob Euk story.
This guy is the greatest thing to happen to baseball. I met him in Phoenix and he was totally genuine, did not "big league' me at all. A gentleman like Lon Simmons, another treasure.
Bob uecker only hit 14 home runs in his career, but 4 of them were off future hall of famers. Rollie Fingers, Gaylord Perry, Sandy Kofax, and Fergie Jenkins.
That hit me, too. He was such a non-threat that I think the Boys took an at-bat off. They thought they could rest? There is not other explanation, ha, ha! Even if I was a marginal player and short career.... I would walk up to strangers on the street and tell them I hit an HR off Sandy Koufax.
Lived in Milwaukee (east side) growing up (a few years younger than Bob). My cub scouts den leader was the wife of the Braves traveling secretary (he was a dwarf). I remember Bob mostly due to him having to catch Phil Niekro. I think that was in Torre’s contract; not having to catch Phil.
He was a quadruple-A player, certainly, but the fact that your skills as a player are enough to GET you into the big leagues, even if they weren't enough to keep you there, means you're in the top 1% of the entire world.
Just last month I read J. Bouton's "Ball Four". About the 12th time. I like to do it each baseball season. He made baseball very funny, for me. I know that baseball is changed, and they don't want old fans. But, if they don't think that a young version of Bob Uecker is good for sales/marketing? They are just missing what makes baseball a great sport. NFL is super serious. NHL has a lot of pride. NBA is a joke. MLB should be fun and funny. Also, it is magic on the radio. No other sport can match it on the radio/in your imagination. Things go in cycles, and I'm always hoping baseball returns to guys like Uke, Scully, Carey, Mel Allen. They shouldn't be legends of the fall.
jewel Crawford can we get the captors of mr bob uecker and see if they can tell us why pain of any kind will never happen again for bob uecker or the Dolan family . By the way where is bob dolan ? ❤
Bob Uecker is a national treasure.
As a resident of Wisconsin , one of the most promising and delightful signs of Spring is Uecker's voice on the air .
Same thought. Always tell my wife, the winter isn't over until I hear Uecker

Bob Uecker is on my top ten list of people I would love to meet.

The ball 4,8,12 thing just really got me . He is that character. That had to be the easiest money for working he made in his life.
What a great guy, it's really a joy to listen his calls
😁his voice is unforgettable, and he is hilarious !! just sayin , thanks for watching !

That is more then 14 that I hit.

He was the perfect announcer, was so funny, added that little extra to the movie.😊
"Get up - get up - get outta here - gone!" - another classic Ueckerism behind the mic
they got to name the ball park in milwaukee
UECKER PARK. he earned it many times over!!
Truly one of a kind.
Ah the hell with it❤😂
He was so good in this.
Having been born and grew up in Cleveland, Ohio, the humor is juuust a little bit more funny.
I love this guy
He should copyright just a bit outside since bob uecker say it all the time❤😊
Such a beautiful human being
I bet he had fun doing the movie and what a great movie too
He's on my Mount Rushmore!
Class act for sure! ❤❤
He deserved an Oscar. Seriously. The Academy should re-think its attitude toward comedies.
Love Bob ❤️
Never gets old

Thanks Bob. You done good!
One hit? That's all we got? One God-damn hit?
🤣
You can't say that on the air. Who cares it is not like anyone is listening.
Game devs designed Video Baseball off this.
"The final score: Sharks 23 runs, with 48 hits and 0 errors. You 0 runs, with 1 hit and 17 errors."
What a legend and class act
The Gorilla Suit and Howard Cosell. Good stuff. Thanks, Dad.
Most Quotable lines about sports in films are from Him in Major League and Bill Murray in Caddyshack....
The flick of JD behind the ear still gets me.

Classic!
Maybe it should be called thr outofstater instead of the Terminator ❤😂
Hilarous. Love him

😂I'd like to see Bob and Buzz do SNL news.
Bob uecker is Mr baseball and how do I love that man
"...I must be in the front rowwww."
😅Bob made the mundane exciting. And his Humor was second to none.
I dont remember who they asked first, if it was Harry Caray or Vin Scully but they declined...and the rest is history
"Another day, another collar."
He was in wrestlemania andre the giant choked him in a interview for show
He ad libs as well as Robin Williams did
Don Carter is (was) an actual pro bowler for those of you who might wonder if he just made that up lol.
MLB should have an annual Harry Doyle Day when commentators are allowed to say what they really think.
"Front row!"
Every time I see a pitcher throw a really bad pitch, I use the line, "Just a bit outside!"
lol when i drank i drank vo, me and my pops lol
Yeah, he did all that shit.
jewel Crawford can we get the captors of mr bob uecker and see if they can tell us why pain of any kind will never happen again for bob uecker or the Dolan family . By the way where is bob dolan ? ❤
I say that the guys when they're banking a ball playing pool and they miss badly

Audio dharma
Sad to see the Cleveland Indians r a thing of the past , the new name is just plain awful 😮
"The Guardians win it! The Guardians win it! Oh my God the Guardians win it!"
@@DurkMcGerk the guardians r a bunch of losers like their city they represent
"Guardians"........
Makes me sick to my stomach. I will never ever watch or listen to a Cleveland game.
