Very cool! Man, I wish we could get some behind the scenes info from Dave on that commercial shooting. Did he and Jay speak much? Did they hate each other at that point?
@@videogameobsession I hear there’s a RUclips video where Dave and Oprah separately discuss the shoot on their respective shows. Jay’s take was also initially included, but NBCU decided to block it, so a new cut was uploaded without Jay’s clip. What I heard, anyway.
Attended a couple wedding receptions at Art’s country club and he would tend bar and tell stories from his playing days. Felt bad for the wedding couple since all the guys spent the event hanging at the bar listening to Art. RIP Art Donovan, Pro Football Hall of Fame 1968
I know why he said his entire career was with the Colts but his career was with these teams Baltimore Colts (1950) New York Yanks (1951) Dallas Texans (1952) Baltimore Colts (1953-1961) The first teams folded and its players became most Yanks, The Yanks then moved to Dallas and when they folded many of the players moved to Baltimore to become the new Colts that now play in Indianapolis where Letterman is from. Art was actually drafted by the New York Giants in 1947,
I'm with you. Not sure how Art D slipped under the radar for NFL interviews. When I watched it, back in the day, I said, "this guy is pure gold!" and remember his stories to this very day.
Dave asked Art if he was a good player which Art answers in a sort of meh wishy washy depends on who you ask type fashion. Donovan was a 6x All Pro (4 first team, 2 second) and an NFL Hall of Famer.
Man watch him through the years on these talk shows and he's a natural stand-up. He could have made a whole career just getting on stage and telling stories. Same with Bob Uecker , was a hell of a storyteller.
And now today, people whine that the NFL is too soft compared to 1983, whereas back then 1983 players were soft for 1950s players. Things never change.
Art Donovan and Bob Uecker told the greatest stories ever in their respective sports .
Absolutely!
Fun Fact: When Dave, Oprah, and Jay taped their Super Bowl ad in March 2010, Dave wore Art’s Colts’ jersey number, 70.
Interesting

These stories never get old. It's hard to believe Art has been gone 10 years. RIP

@atlanteanwitch4465 Thanks for sharing. A typical New Yorker like my late Dad and today the WOKE would of cancelled Art and his stories!
This is great. He looks like Curly Howard and is just as funny. Best thing I've watched on RUclips in a long time.
LEGEND!
This guy sounds like he had some great stories from his playing days. I could listen to him talk for hours, and I'd actually be one to listen.
Art was a national treasure.... They broke the mold when he passed.... 👍
I'm pretty sure he broke the ah, how should I say, ah, the "escape hatch" when he was born.
I know why he said his entire career was with the Colts but his career was with these teams Baltimore Colts (1950)
New York Yanks (1951)
Dallas Texans (1952)

I would like to think my call months ago to Gaines made this happen today. Art was always great with Dave. THANKS :)
He’s a Maryland treasure for sure.
Yes!!!!.... a kid from the Bronx, NY.... priceless!!!
Love Art. God bless him.
One of my favorite guests. Fatso was a riot
I don't care for football, but Art became my favorite player due to his appearances with Dave.
Never seen this man, never heard of him but I'm so glad I stopped to listen. They sure don't make em like that no more! LoL Man is a work of art
There may be a two-part compilation of all of Art’s appearances on Dave somewhere on the RUclipss.
Art was a classic guest on Letterman and Carson
@@dongiller Cool, I'll check them out, thanks!
@@MrDuds1984 Thanks!
His book, Fatso was hilarious.

"How much does this guy weigh?"

Art was a suitfull.
This guy is dead now
He weighed 295 in his playing days he said on Carson
They don't make people like art Donovan anymore. So similar to how my grandfather was
I hate to be that person, but I remember seeing this when it originally aired. I still talk about these stories.
I'm with you. Not sure how Art D slipped under the radar for NFL interviews. When I watched it, back in the day, I said, "this guy is pure gold!" and remember his stories to this very day.
Really?
Dave asked Art if he was a good player which Art answers in a sort of meh wishy washy depends on who you ask type fashion.
Donovan was a 6x All Pro (4 first team, 2 second) and an NFL Hall of Famer.
For a player who could ball like that, he's such a humble self-effacing guy.
How many people that were involved in football Ketelle so many colorful, descriptive, and have such recall? He was a gem.
Hey…how much does this guy weigh?
Art O'Donno
He looks like a boxer!
Hey… is this guy a wrestler?! He looks like a businessman!
but that´s not fair...
Man watch him through the years on these talk shows and he's a natural stand-up. He could have made a whole career just getting on stage and telling stories. Same with Bob Uecker , was a hell of a storyteller.
Amazing he lived to be 89 considering the lifestyle he had.
I bought his book. Hilarious!
Art Donovan. A national treasure.
He is huge!

Oh, shoot, June 5 is Art Donovan's centennial! Happy 100 in peace to a cultural icon....!
Donovan is the best
Man art Donovan and Bob Uecker come on now
Wow..... I guess when there were only five channels you could put this type of stuff on the air.
Not a fan of this?
Art was the best. Back when Letterman wasn’t political
You wouldn’t care if Dave’s politics aligned with your own. 🤷🏻♂️🙄🤦🏻♂️
All the time hes thinong about dave 'how much does this guy weigh?'
Art was one of the great guests
It just doesnt get any better.
When Men were Men... And Women were damn proud of it
Bawlamore!!
Screw John Madden 😒 ART RULES 🎨
How much does John Madden weight
They played with less padding and his mental capacity is undiminished
The Colts belong to Baltimore.
He delivered beer off season.. my Dad made more Union factory then indians paid
This was before Dave got his left wing orders
The greatest Colt who became a WWE commentator in history!
This was Art's first appearance and you can see by Dave's reactions he was getting more than he expected.
