- Villena, Alicante - Medieval market.
It rained.
Lots.
This ranks "up there" as one of our favourite cultural experiences in Spain. We didn´t even manage to see the jousting/ fighting in the castle!
We toured around the streets of Villena, looking at the Artisan Market stalls. We then took a peek into the Church of Santa Maria. Magical moment there with the music from the live band.
We then took ourselves around the streets adorned with theming taking you back into the middle ages. (Almost)
We were stopped by some friendly locals- drinks poured from jugs, followed by boiled eggs.
Random.
Notable mention for Bodega El Caracol- one of the most bizarre (but excellent) bars we have ever been in.
On our travels we bought some artisan products - home made Sobrasada- a spicy one and a sweet one flavoured with Roquefort cheese.
Yum.
We finished with lunch at Marieta Café & Picoteo- which was excellent.
This trip was with Rosa Tours- viajesrosatours.com
This event is well worth doing this next year- we preferred it to the Orihuela Medieval market we did last year and the One we regularly do in Los Alcazares.

chug chug chug bueno bueno bueno 🥚🥚🥚.. You guys are so lucky to live and experience Espana 👍
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 one of our most random experiences. Those guys were so fun and welcoming! The whole event was fantastic, and a lot of people that live here don't realise what is on their doorstep! Thanks for watching 👍 🙏
I know what you mean literally when people are missing out outside their doorsteps . @@britslivinginspain
Hi, looked like a very quaint market, food seemed quite nice. The town had a medieval and other worldly vibe
It was fantastic. We will do this event again, and will try to revisit at another time in the future. Thanks for watching 👍
Looks like fun too 😊
Was a fantastic day, even better it was on a coach trip. Thanks for watching 👍
Looks lovely 😊
It was!
Great day out shame about the rain 🌧️
True- but was still fantastic, regardless
No rain would have meant more crowds.... thanks for watching 👍
Thank you for another great video coming out again the 21st April and will have to try and find out what’s on so we can enjoy ourselves as well
Thanks for watching. Take a look on www.eurotourguide.com for a calendar if events in the area 😉
Great video guys, that pig roast looked great, and the sausages and cheese, stuff like that is soo expensive in Thailand
Cheers Buddy. Pity we weren´t there long enough to try the pig out....
Great video guys. 👍. Soggy old day but Villena still looked really interesting even the 'rough' wine 😂.
It certainly was! Thanks for watching 👍
Great video, bit gutted I didn’t get the egg & jug experience 😂 x
😂😂. It was very random!
Hi guys
Hola!
Looked interesting. Would Villena be worth a visit even when the Medieval market wasn’t going on? Sorry about the rain that day but I heard that area could use some much needed precipitation, just not when an event is happening.
Thanks for watching. Rain is still very needed. There is a large, impressive castle here (check the castles video we did)- but we've still not managed to get in.. so we will be back. It's about an hours drive from Torrevieja...
looks interesting.how long is it on for? im not over until May
Hi. It was on that week/ weekend. There are other medieval markets throughout Spain at different times of the year. Some are great, some are.. ok. Take a look on www.eurotourguide.com calendar to see what events are on/ coming up.
freindly but barmy medievl locals with the eggs and wine 🤣
🤪 we thought wither water or wine- was an aniseed liquer.. a bit stronger 🤣 thanks for watching 👍
