    I know this is an old video, but to anybody wondering, the purpose of this is to get the same amount of power with less current draw. The only downfall is just like bridging a multichannel amp, the ohms raise up double when strapped.

      The purpose is to get more power, the power for a given impedance normally should double, but your minimum impedance normally doubles as well.

    • @Turdpuncher
      @Turdpuncher Год назад

      @@kamrenmy7007 generally you dont get any more power vs two amps not strapped, strapping them only unifies the output sections to act as a single channel with the benefit of less current draw .given impedances can be manipulated in a multiple dvc subwoofer setup. Im not saying that your thoughts are incorrect, it could be one reason that somone would do this, im just saying that its alot more common for people to do this to help reduce electrical strain and not have to spend so much more on the charging and capacity vs just wiring different

    Strapping/bridging 2 mono amps combines them to make it as if you have 1 bigger amp. The master amp will have the main rca from headunit going to the inputs and the bridge out from the master goes to the bridge in on the slave. You must have matching brand model and wattage amps for it to work. So if you have 2 1500rms mono amps and you combine them then your subs will be getting 3000rms going to them. But of course you must have proper electrical and fusing along with reserve battery and a H/O alt. The rms doesn't be constant either depending on your volume and proper settings on the master amp. You don't need to adjust gains or other settings on slave amp thats what the master amp does.

    if using more than 1 amp at a time wired to your remote turn on for your head unit will cause feedback to run back to your remote turn on for your headunit. you may hear a pop or other noise when turning on and off. this will destroy that output on your headunit. you need to use a diode and capacitor with a relay. i would search online for how to wire this up. this came from an engineer that worked for alpine.

    Ive been wondering about a simular way but with 2 2ch amps that are bridgeable. Like is it possible to bridge 2 amps into bridge mode to work as 1? Like on 1 amp take the neg - of 1 going to the pos+ on the other amp and the other positive and neg wire going to the subs like you would be doing it originally on 1 amp to loset the ohm or etc. but make both amps bridged together to make as 1 and then bridge them to the subs? If this is possbl3. which i might try but hope it dont fry them. But hope it would double both amps in watts as they would be combin3d to make both into 1 amp. So say if i had 2 same or equel 500w amps each and if this is possible it would be after all what ive explained would make them both into 1 amp making it 1,000watts

    Why does audiopipe say 2ohm minimum when strapping? What load are u at and what have u tried with AP amps? My APCL 1500 is at .5ohm and I pound it daily, however I want to strap my 2nd one, but that would put me at .25. Would rather be at 1ohm, but again manual says 2ohm min.

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  6 лет назад

      That be very dependant on the reactive load of the setup... I've wired them below .25 before but this was in a very high ratio 4th order bandpass with 6x impedance rise. This was also not used for music.

    • @johnvancamp1576
      @johnvancamp1576 6 лет назад

      I finished strapping them just now and they are not acting right once reaching high volume. The apcl1500.1D has 2 speaker terminals on it (evidently this makes it easier for people who have 2 leads coming out of their dual speaker box) that and being in the absolute Rush for time/day light with a friend only being in the way helping me had me a little confused and may have led to a slight mistake. It was an absolute shit show and I knew better. I will double check the wiring diagram and fix it in the morning and keep you posted. thank you and I appreciated.

    Great video bud i just have a couple questions...... I just bought 2 Planet Audio pl4000 what amps.... the owner manual it's telling me when I strap them that the slave amp doesn't get no RCA's put into it.... the manual says the master amp gets the RCA's in the input to the head unit... and the remote wire on the slave amp has to go into the head unit I was just wondering if I could do it this way also..... and it is also saying I should get two separate ground wires could I do that also instead of running one wire to both terminals...... sorry for all the questions I am kind of new at this and want to make sure I do it right

    • @BlaserBuilds
      @BlaserBuilds  5 лет назад +1

      The amps should have their own power and ground. Run a larger cable front to back then use a distribution block. The slave amp needs some type of signal. Usually it gets an RCA from an output on the master.

    • @78758nate
      @78758nate Год назад

      0.5 ohm is the load each amp would see. If your amp is durable enough, it wouldn't be such a big deal, considering with impedance rise, it wouldn't see that low of a load for long.

    I want to strap 2 amps that have the master\slave switch that are 1 ohm stable. They are 1500 watts each. I know that by strapping them I will be changing the impedance to 2 ohms. My question is do I use a 4 ohm dvc, or a 1 ohm dvc so that my final impedance is 2 ohms? I am building an Orion HCCA 15 in my 05 Ford F150. Not a lot of space but who needs eardrums? ...lol. Gona go with a 4.5 ft^3 aeroport box.

    • @johnvancamp1576
      @johnvancamp1576 5 лет назад

      By strapping them you're not changing the impedence to 2 ohms. When strapping amps they will see half of what your speakers are wired too for example if you have 2 dual 2 ohm subwoofers wired to 2 ohms, that will be split in half and each amp will then see 1ohm final load.

    • @johnvancamp1576
      @johnvancamp1576 5 лет назад

      I also have 2 1500 watt amps that are 1 ohm stable so you would want your speaker or speakers to be wired to a final of 2 ohms so then each amp will see 1ohm in order to get their Max potential

    Do you know if this can be done only on the input side so that both amplifiers are synchronized and only have to use 1 bass knob and one set of inputs, but instead of linking the outputs together as a single Channel, just hook them up where there's one amp on each speaker? Do you follow what I'm asking here?

    • @johnvancamp1576
      @johnvancamp1576 5 лет назад +2

      The way he shows it in the video you would only have one bass knob and 1 amp controls the other if you hooked up the amps individually (one to each subwoofer) you then would have two Bass knobs, two gains to adjust, etc which is not ideal.
