In your welt pocket tutorial a tip to get neater corners is when attaching the second pocket bag start and stop your stitch line a few millimetres short of the first line and mitre, when you push through to the right side the second corner will be well hidden by the welt.
Lovely tutorial, clearly explained
Thanks so much 😊Florence, sew happy you enjoyed the tutorial.

@@catdcambs Thank you Kathrine! Words I needed to hear today.
@@colleenglea I guess strangely enough. I was feeling that vibe. No something tells me you need to shine. Dust it off and start showing what you can do and know. God bless.

Thanks
Thank you and I will.
Thank you.
Hi Colleen! Just viewed this video on the burdastyle website and found it very helpful. Right now I am altering a trouser pattern for a pair of jeans, and needed to know how to construct a hip pocket. Thanks so much! The only suggestion I have for a tutorial like this is to choose a fabric that has an obvious right side and wrong side, (print maybe?) Would really make your instructions clear to a beginner.
Thanks so much and fingers crossed :)
Very useful.
This was excellent .
Thank you Mary!
No problem at all, thanks.
very very clear, thank you
Thanks for taking the time to comment Sue.

Hi. Thanks for the suggestion and for taking the time to leave a comment. Always very much appreciated.
My pleasure.
I know this is random but could you please show me how you organize your patterns, fabric and basically all your sewing stuff? You seem like you're extremely tidy! Love your work as always.
This is the best demonstration so far! Was searching and searching. Thank you so much!
You are the best!
Can you show how to do a bodice lining? I never can get it right. Making little girl dresses/jumpers and the lining always confuses me. I cant be the only one? thank you!!
Thank you!
You're welcome!
@LaydeeHarpzK Hi. The best tip I can give to find the right side of fabric, is to run a finger along the selvedge. If it feels uneven and bumpy, that indicates the right side. If it's smooth, then that's the wrong side. Hope that helps.
Thank you! This tutorial has really helped :)
+michelleb96 Glad I could be of help! Thanks for commenting.
@verycraftymama Hi and thanks for the very kind words. My next sew-along will involve the sewing of lining into a dress. That should give you the principles of how to do it.
Good tut
Very wonderful video
i purchased a mccalls pattern and the directions made no sense. thankfully i found this video; i will use it to imporvise and make my skirt pockets. thank you.
Thank you for taking the time to comment LN. Sew happy you enjoyed the tutorial.
Understitching - Great idea. I should do that in more areas of my garments. I'm going to add that to my contoured waistband, too. Thanks!
SueC56
No problem.
Wonderful and well explained. Thanks ma God bless you richly. I'm giving it a try right away. Pls ma what's the measurement for the length and wildness. Thanks
The length is 20cm and width is 16cm. Thank you for commenting BLESSING.
You're correct. it's the dart measurement.
Hello, just wondered if you could help me. i find i quite difficult on knowing what the right side to sew and place each piece on. i know about the warp, the weft, grain line, selvedge ...ect. still im not sure weather im doing it right. do you have any other tips?
I have the Sew Over It Ava skirt pattern which is just a plain skirt with no pockets. I would like to add a hip pocket to this pattern.
Can it be done? Or is it easier to just purchase a pattern that as this type of pocket? Thank you for a clearly explained video :)
Absolutely Elaine, and good luck.
Nice tutorial😍😍😍😍
Thank you for commenting Treena Henry.
Honey Thank you. I am making a pair of pants that called for a lining of the hip pocket and I was lost. I am going to look on her to see what else you can teach me...lol. Thank you
When I do a pocket like this ,I top stitch the top of the pocket on the garment just to make sure the linning doesn,t show ( the way jeans are made). I understand your directions perfectly. Thank you for doing such a fantastic job. Please do more videos for beginners.
thank u
Thank you for commenting Aman Sohal.
I would like to see this pocket attached to a pair of shorts. Thanks
Do you actually have a video on how to make the pattern for the front hip pocket
Hello Sandrika. Not on my channel I will be launching a course in the next couple of weeks on drafting patterns. Here is the link to my courses - colleen-s-school-1d5e.thinkific.com. Keep watching my channel I will be making an announcement soon!
thanks 4 this appreciated :)
@3838bbla Thanks for the comment. My husband might disagree with the 'tidy'. I'll bear in mind your request and see what I can do for you.
Can you please help teach us how to attach this to a gown that has no waist band.. Like an A line dress? Thank you so much
I can be of help Theresa, but you have to be on the top level membership on this channel.
For these tiny cuts: Do I have to use an overlock or a zic zac stitch against fraying?
For sewing the outer edge of the pocket, I would recommend Overlocking or a zig zag stitch. Thank you for commenting Chuu_cat.
Can u tell the measurement? Like how much width of opening of pocket in length n width n curve..what is pocket length??
The width is about 6” and the length of the pocket is about 8”. These measurements can vary a little depending on the sewing project. Thank you for commenting jagruti bhamwari.
Consider marking the wrong side of your pieces with chalk after you cut them out while you still know which side is which.
SueC56
Leave it with me and I'll see what I can do.
