I am one of those people who stare at ruins for hours, trying to imagine what they once looked like. I love this channel. Kudos to the diligent work you put in!
My first visit in Rome right now. After visiting a lot of these sites I like to watch these videos in my hotel while I’m winding down at night. Its beautiful and overwhelming to take in all the beauty and history here
Guys, I just returned from Rome yesterday and this footage explained me lots of things, besides I was able to relive this wonderful experiences. Thank you ❤😊
I always found Assassin's Creed Brotherhood to be frustratingly tantalizing. Ubisoft's renaissance Rome was gorgeous, but it's the era you guys are working on that most players really wanted! Beautiful work!
Thank you! I would also really like to see the AG from the era of ancient Rome, but in any case it will be a game, they have other priorities. And that's okay.
INCREDIBLE WORK! 👏👏 Noone has ever come close to this level of scale and detail, and we can enjoy it for free. Thank you for all the time you have put into this. Surely we will be able to wander these streets in the not so distant future.
Thank you, nice to hear! There are 2 more projects dedicated to ancient Rome of a good quality - Rome Reborn and Faber Courtial. Each of ours reconstructions has their own features and distinctions, and that is great!
What a beautiful reconstruction. Brought back to life. Hard to believe that the romans could have built these great monuments and buildings without the knowledge and materials we have today.
I'm a conservator of monuments and therefore I know what these buildings used to look like. However, my dream is to spend a few hours in ancient Rome someday. Greetings from Poland.
To be fair they didn't destroy the buildings when they looked like this, the baths for example stopped working in the 6th century when the aqueducts were destroyed and then they were abandoned and overgrown, earthquakes toppled columns and walls and from that was scavenged material to build churches and housing. Don't forget the people of medieval Rome were living in one vast ruin of a city built for a population of a million not the ten thousand or so by that point, they just needed to survive so saving non working, crumbling ruins that had once been a bathhouse would have made no sense.
Brilliant piece of work. It was enjoyable and informative to watch and brought back great memories of my visits to these locations in 2018 and 2019. Thanks.
Awesome work! Perhaps one day you could do a video on how Rome looked in the aftermath of the Vandal sack of 455? Just a thought! Keep up the great work!
I'm standing in front of the Colloseum right now because I wanted to see what it really looked like in Rome. I'm really shocked that it's just ruins of a beautiful city, really sad that they destroyed something like that to build other things.
Fantastic video - I love it! What a great idea to contrast Modern Roma with Classical Rome! 😄 side note: sounds like you used the "Josh" voice from the ElevenLabs text to speech generator. I did as well for a project, and I hadda laugh when I 'recognized' the announcer, lol! 🤣
It would be so good if you had a phone app where you use the augmented reality and overlays the 3D buildings and objects over what you see in real time as you move your phone around.
I wish I had a Time Machine for only one day just to see what it was like, and to watch gladiators fight in the colosseum or horse racing at the circus maximus
Thank you for your donation, but as I said many times already, I never reply to such questions. Any programmer uses a number of software programs, which he combines in a unique way based on his own experience. Almost all basic 3d programs are equivalent, there is not a single one which can make 'magic' on its own.
@@historyin3d Ok, thanks for the reply. I can agree with the last statement even if I still don't fully understand the reason for not wanting to say the software used.
@@Podzzy This makes no sense; everyone has their own set. I motivate everyone to choose their first 3D modeling package on their own, without looking at anyone else.
Magnificent work! Congratulations. I would like to add that most of the destruction of the great Imperial buildings was carried out by the fanatical Christians and later on, in a more methodical manner, by the Catholic Church, determined to erase any vestiges of the old Roman civilization. For a well-documented description of that process I recommend Catherine Nixey´s book "THE DARKENING AGE"
I would recommend reading the Nixey´s book only in the context of other studies. This book is VERY biased and contains a number of very arbitrary generalizations. For a REALLY well-documented description of that process it is necessary to begin with the fundamental works of Lanciani and Gregorovius, and then follow the path of main studies of Roman topography till our time. Thank you for your kind words about our project!
I am surprised people in Ancient Rome wore modern day clothes and drove cars, but I must admit that it looks much better today without all those broken buildings and stuff.
@@_Jetbolt_ I'm not sure, maybe I'm mistaken but I heard sth like they've recreated the part of Pompey Curia either in AG Odyssey or Origins. In any case, it is the game, not 3D reconstruction. The gameplay is in priority there.

Pretty sure it would cost wayyyy more than that. Plus these are national historical landmarks that you cannot build over. There is more to money. It’s cultural heritage. Expand your mind.

thank you for making this. i can’t believe this is free and accessible to anyone
I just visited Rome, and after 3 days of just imaginee things, this video is pure gold
It’s a shame that so much of Ancient Rome was pillaged for building material for medieval construction. They didn’t appreciate what they had!
Thank the Vatican

Wouldnt there be more colors? The colosseum looks barren, pretty sure it was painted all over
Of course not. Colosseum corridors were painted inside in a rather modest colours. But Colosseum exterior was left unpainted.
