- In this video we take our line drawing from the first video, and add detail and shadow to improve clarity, and make our buildings look more realistic. Especially important is layering shadow patterns throughout the image.

The intro should be "i m david finch, a Legend, a God, and today ima teach you something"
perfect hahaha
Kim Jun Gi is probably 1 of the best artist right now. But Finch is good.
Great intro David! You nailed it! I know it’s boring to do those things, but when doing videos, it’s entertainment, so those things are a necessity...
And you did a really great job on those buildings! Hat‘s up! You are the best 💪🏻🤘🏻☺️🙏🏼👍🏻
Dynamite. I've followed your stuff through the years, trying to learn, and I find you are probably the best teacher around that is able to communicate to an audience techniques for drawing comic books that have a logic to them, but are also very practical in the sense that anyone could develop if they put in the time and effort. A suggestion I have for perspective content in the future would be to show your method for drawing a street corner with the hustle and bustle that comes with it. Specifically, where buildings meet the sidewalk I find to be intimidating due to so much placement of other items like parked cars, mail boxes, tables, trash cans, light poles, and of course people in close proximity with one another. I'd love to see you showcase your magic tackling that situation. Thanks.
Thank you so much for these 2 city perspective drawing tutorials they helped me so much! I used to draw buildings like flat squares with other tinier squares in it, but now I can draw a city that actually looks believable!!! 😁😁😁😁
Watching all of this done traditionally is so incredibly satisfying. Instant subscribe!
Thanks for this 2 part tutorial, and thanks for taking the time in all you videos to show us your methods, and helping us out. Thank you.
So much to learn just by watching this! What a treat! Thank you, David!
The new intro and graphics are perfect! Im commenting early, but u already know.. I watch your vids a few times over! 😊 thanx for the continued tutorial!🔥
Awesome Mr Finch! So so cool
Once again, really nice video Dave!
THANK YOU David for this work!
Leg day coming soon!! great video David, i think you have explained these perspective tutorials really good, i will put them into practise asap!
Thanks for the lesson Dave!
Wow, this is amazing! So many details! You are brilliant!
Good details and definitions
Really amazing drawing of buildings. ❤💕💓the details👏👍👌
So good, I couldn't even draw it looking at my phone it was so detailed. Amazing!
Hi, Mr. Finch. Thank you again for the great insight in your videos. Purchased your entire Gnomon drawing / inking DVDS and website tutorials several years back. Definitely, a Masterclass worth the price (better instructional material than most books offer) and much appreciated. FYI, the link for Strathmore 200 is for 'LINED FOR COVERS' instead of 'LINED FOR PAGES', I may be wrong but i think they are two different formatted pages in regards to the blue lines. Just wanted to help out with info. Also, HOT TIP for you and your subscribers, Hobby Lobby art stores have Strathmore 200 Smooth series 24 sheets a pad for $11.39 - 40% off ($18.99 list price) before July 4th, which comes out to around a fantastic 50 cents a page after tax. Great value & would highly recommend anyone to pick up in person to save on shipping and overall cost. With tax it actually comes in cheaper, than ordering online due to shipping costs depending on how much you order. Free shipping over $50 is advertised online and the website operates separate from the local stores. I have found the best, black ink available is Yasutomo Liquid Sumi Ink, 2oz (Not the 12oz bottle), Black (KF2.) Sumi ink is made of high-quality vegetable soot
/ waterproof and can be found on Amazon for around $10. I was recommended the ink by my local art store owner years ago. She recommended it over Pelikan and Speedball and she was right. It's definitely the darkest blacks I've ever encountered over the years. Quality is supreme considering overall paper and ink quality has died down since the 90's. Like all ink, I recommend to combine two bottles of Sumi into one bottle and leave ink out to air to allow some of the built in water to evaporate to get proper consistency. Stay safe everyone! Thank you, Mr. Finch. One of the most talented and nicest people you will ever meet.
Your great man. You make me want to draw, thanks for letting us see how a master works.
I learned a ton about creating scenes from these perspective videos of David!
I love the way you draw perspective
Happy Canada Day Mr. Finch
Would like to see a forearm tutorial or crosshatching next. Keep up the great work ! 😃
I finally watched the part 2 and it's glorious 🍀
Wooo!
David has been one of my favorite artists since the 90's, but I never knew he was left handed before finding his videos on RUclips! It's cool to know one of my idols is a fellow southpaw lol
Thank you for explaining these so wonderful well 🙏
Hello Mr. Finch, I was wondering if you could do a tutorial tackling crosshatching? I would also like to thank you for all of these wonderful videos. I am very glad you made a RUclips to connect with the art and comic book fanbase.
I second that!!!! I just asked the same thing on his hulk video (the timelapse one)😁
Late reply, but he has a how to cross hatch video on Proko's channel

thanks heaps David this is just what I needed
I sooo needed this 🙏
Thanks, David!
Heck yea!
I saw a demonstration class years ago, about complex shadows. It was for architectural drawings, but it was transformative to my way of thinking about shadows. Determine how many objects will cast shadows on a surface & make your decision on tonal values based upon that. It has helped my artwork become more immersive.
One more thing, perhaps I just missed it, but it seems to me that you should have added a link to part 1 for those who missed it.
Aaaannd..Subscribed. thanks for the great content.
Beautifully put together. It's as if the last video was the skeleton and this was the flesh. The skeleton has to be sound for it all to work, but the flesh is where the character is. Thanks so much.
Finally! Took me about 5 to 6 hours of total time to do the hole thing. Maybe one of the tutorials could be how to draw metal surfaces?
awesome David, great work as always. i was seeing you do not use a glove, you should get those black gloves animators use when they draw so you can have the pinky and the ring finger covered and your hand's heel also covered so you can see if that is more comfortable. even though you are on different tools i recall getting myself lead on my hands and smudging and thought the gloves change that for me.
It would be nice if you could do a tutorial on the two points perspective. Nice video!
I swear art lover community are the best in internet
Thank you.
I was really looking forward to what you were going to put in the sign on the right hand midground building
.. 😔. That said, great video, with some beautiful work. Thanks so much for taking the time!
Don't forget our favorite digital app, *Clip Studio Paint.* Though it isn't the only program with perspective tools, it is one of the best, and of course it has all the other great comics-making tools. These apps don't address the rendering of perspective scenes, but they do supply a visual infrastructure for some of the more technical aspects of drawing.
I love you David. And also, first!
no you aren’t the first
Also how long does it take for you to finish this kind of drawings compared to figures, figures take less time i guess?
Great video David! Can you post a better quality finish picture on instagram?
Hi David, great tutorial. I’ve been directed here by Robert Marzullo and I’m very pleased he did. I will watch all videos with interest. Love your style. What comics do you work on.
Awesome👍🏼
Do you ever switch from a hard lead to a softer lead like a B when you go in to do your rendering/lighting, or do you prefer to just use an H throughout?
He's said a number of times in livestreams: he pencils always with just a 2H, even though he ends up pressing to the point of it hurting his hand constantly. Ithink he really should use softer leads but whatever..
In regards to the line weights on closer buildings and those further back, is that not something the colourist can do using colour holds? Or is it just best to use that method from the beginning?
Thanks for all the wonderful videos David, I´m so grateful you´re sharing this information with the world! Also, love the new intro, but by the gods, the background music is awful XD.
The qustion is how u learnt to write and draw comics at the same time ???
Do episode about animals plz

God teaches you how to draw
Hey buddy, music really isn't necessary when you're talking. It's just distracting. Thanks for making these!
The blank middle in the background makes no sense to me. The left and right sides are awesome. The middle appears to be an odd shape with partial buildings on each side of it. Help.
what’s your next video
I want this guy to quit youtube to good of a youtuber
