Roomba should pay you for this! I was able to get my Roomba in top shape after watching this. And I'm an 82-year-old lady.
Probably upset they won't get your money for a new one, actually. Hes the enemy xD
Worked great. My Roomba kept giving me an error 8. Per the instruction, I opened the iRobot app and I replaced the rollers, filter and side/crevice brush as shown in the app. Error 8 persisted. I then thoroughly cleaned the dust bin. I even cleaned the small fan in the dust bin after removing the top screws on the bin. Still error 8 persisted. I then found this video and followed all the steps shown. I found the problem on the inside of the Roomba and dust bin frame. The inside of my Roomba was caked with dirt and small hairs. After reassembling the Roomba, my Roomba is happily vacuuming away as I type this.
Thanks SO much for posting this! Great instructions.
Usually it's the infrared dust detector, it's been placed on a few spots on Roomba
Where are the infrared dust detectors? Maybe I didn’t clean them all. My Roomba is now back to giving me error 8. Not sure how to fix it. Ordered a new battery so I’ll try that when it arrives.
@@loftus4453 Refer to this video from Roomba on locating all dust sensor positions: ruclips.net/video/B8k9SOJehTE/видео.html Hope you get your error cleared out.
@@TheGizmoGarage thank you!
Thanks you for this. I’ve had my room a 5 years and never done this before today. She’s all nice and clean now thanks to you .
Yours looks WAY better than mine. Mine is utterly disgusting I’ve thought about just getting a new roomba. Gonna trying cleaning it more now that I’ve watched your video. Thank you!
Wear rubber/nitrile gloves to do the job, it will make things much easier!
Thank you soooooo much for this VIDEO!!!! OMG!! I Finally looked at the bottom of my roomba and couldn’t figure out how to get the front wheel out and it was BAD!!! It’s been a while since I cleaned it, but it seems to be good now.
Thank you for this video again!!!
Thanks mate ! I thought my Roomba was stuffed , however , after watching your vid and following your instructions , I have a new Roomba ! When you come to Australia , mate , the beers are on me ! Thanks . You saved me hundreds of dollars . RESPECT !!!
No problem 👍
Thank you for making this!! 4:18 I don't know why Roomba doesn't actually tell people how to clean their Roomba? I've had mine for four years and despite me trying to keep it clean it's in really bad shape. I didn't know how to clean it well so thank you for this!
Thanks, man!! I wanted to sell my current Roomba because I got a newer version, and I wanted to clean it before selling. This video is so helpful!
Do you need to erase it from the app before selling it?
This was immensely helpful, thank you!
I had an issue with my i7+ making a grinding noise occasionally when turning which I couldn't fix from my regular cleaning. I had no idea you could actually push out the pin from inside the rotating wheel, and I discovered a small strand of sisal cord wrapped around the middle of the pin.
It was also very satisfying to perform a safe and thorough cleaning of the interior!
You forgot to show us how to take the end caps off the roller brushes. That’s what I had to do to free them up. They were packed with hair. This video was very helpful. Thank you for making it.
Oooops, yes should have showed how to clean those hairs off the rollers' sides!
I also had hair packed around my wheels
Firstly I’m glad I tripped across your tutorial on deep cleaning the iRobot. Thought I kept it clean but how wrong I was - gross kinda sums it up! I’ve now got my iRobot in pretty good clean state. It said ‘thanks’ with a chime when I put the battery in and it now runs across the floors as if it’s on steroids! Thanks for the detailed step by step guide to cleaning the iRobot.
Watched your video and I can’t wait to grab a screwdriver and some wipes and tear into it. Mines pretty gross around the rollers and this should do the trick. Thanks for the video!
Thank you for this thorough explanation! I was shocked by the amount of dust and dog hair our Roomba has collected!
Graet video and very helpful. You saved me a lot of money. One thing if I may, there’s a lot of hair dust inside the wheels and I wish this could be removed as well.
The wheel will eventually need replacement when texture is lost or stopped turning, if there is hair stuck in-between and wheel is not turning, then you can order replacement wheels on iRobot website, if wheel still turns fine, I think you don't have to worry about those hairs stuck there.
Awesome video. Tks. Mine ran over broth cat food, so it was stinky everywhere. I was able to clean all of it.
Okay took my time, gave it a thorough cleaning and it seems to run like brand new. Thanks again
Awesome, I love my 985, so easy to maintain
I have a newer J model, slightly different, yet your video still was super helpful thx!
Great and thorough explanation. Thanks for posting !
Glad it was helpful!
Very clear and concise.
Thank you
Really appreciate your video!
Helpful video. Thank you, Mr. Li!
Thank you so much! Very well explained tutorial.
This is the BEST VIDEO!!! You are amazing friend!!!
Thank you for this information
This is a really helpful video. Thank you for taking the time to make it!
Thanks for a very informative video
Very clear instruction. Thanks for sharing.
Very easy to understand
at 13:00 13:15 you showed the cleaning box. I went a bit further.... First, my Roomba 614 is not charging. Cleaned the contact, same. Green light lits for a min then goes out. I believe the battery is gone. Battery shows 0 V.. took it apart. cleaned dust with water soap and toothbrush, plastic parts are like new.... ANOTHER question about the cleaning box. The cleaning box has a motor and 2 brushes. There is a 1/8 inch red sticker. Under this sticker there is a flexible plastic "wire" or "needle" with a small ball-anchor. The ball remains in the socket under the red sticker, and the plastic "needle" follows a channel in the pulley of the motor. The motor appears to be freely swinging in its socket along its rotor-axle. As the motor turns left-right, the pulley moves. There is a small hole at the end of the pulley channel, where the plastic "needle" appears to enter. This element does not appear to be sold separately. I think I need a replacement of this "needle". Do you know how long is this "needle"? What is the purpose? I think I can use weed-eater string or fishing line, they come at different diameters. I can improvise. Any idea?
Amazing video. Truly, thank you! 🙏🏾
Thank you so much for this video!!!!
This is amazing. Thank you so so much!
Thanks! Very helpful
Great video
Thank you for the good work w this. God Bless
Awesome and helpful!
Excellent! thank you!
Do you know the size of the screw of the sweeping brush? Does it comes with the replacement?
You just need a tiny screwdriver set to work the sweeping brush: amzn.to/3Ucuhwd You can buy replacement at most places: amzn.to/40YOoAc
Very helpful.
That machine is a couple years old??? Holy cow! It looks new… 😂.
I’m guessing you don’t have kids or animals!!
I have pets so mine gets covered with hair, even the roller brush AND roller ball area is tangled with tons of hair.
close to 5 years now... We have 6 cats and it gets used every other day, many parts gets replaced when worn :)
Where do I buy parts for this thing. I need the small black and white wheel, shaft and the bracket that holds it. Please, need help.
Amazon
Pero cómo limpio las celdas internas que están llenas de polvo?
Can you wash the dust
Filter?
Nope... Dust filter is made of paper, needs to be replaced periodically if it is really dirty. Luckily it's not very expensive if you buy after market ones. amzn.to/3jpSiBZ
Thank you
Any way to clean the big wheels? We have hair I can see stuck inside the wheels..
I haven’t found an easy way to clean the big wheel, but the wheels seems to be functioning normally for quite a long time now there are hair on mine but probably not as important as some other components mentioned in my video
cheers !
What about the main wheels? They should be removed and cleaned too.
The main wheels interestingly doesn't attract any dirt/hairs if at all so you don't have to worry about it. But if you need to remove them, I have a video for that: ruclips.net/video/j21KAECgLUA/видео.html
@@TheGizmoGarage There is some hair / dust stuffed between the wheel and the motor on my Roomba. I think this ruclips.net/video/_AY--ZH6U7k/видео.html is noce example of wheel disassembly.
Ok thanks
The trash bin fan also needs to be cleaned otherwise an error 8 will occur causing the small fan in the trash bin to stop spinning and roomba won’t run anymore. Simple fix, no need to buy a new trash bin like roomba will tell you!
What is the life of hepa and rollers and side brush ,say if I use the ribo once a day for tile floor of 900 Sq ft, not a dirty floor no pets only human hair.
Roller and side brush, at least 3-5 months, but depending on the floor surface, if they are rough the brush get's worn pretty quickly. The filter, visually inspect, if the other side where air comes out is pretty dark and dirty after regular vacuum and clean of the otherside of the filter, then it's time to replace, we change the air filter every 2-3 months with regular clean of it.
the i890 is the biggest piece of garbage i ever bought. It NEVER worked and I really regret not returning it. My 890 was far superior.
Yeah, I think we'll definitely sticking to our i980
if you think that was bad... thats just one week with my german shepherd.
Where you buy the parts ? Which store
Amazon
From iRobot’s official online store on their website.
A Big pair black wheels not shown how to remove. There are lots of hidden dust there.
Here is a whole video on how to replace wheels! ruclips.net/video/j21KAECgLUA/видео.html
Service center near me
If you don’t have a service center near you, you’ll have to send it to iRobot for repair and warranty
Forgot to show how to clean the fan
Which fan? the one in the dust bin, or the edge cleaner brush that spins around?

I was just told by Roomba Tech that it is garbage after it ran through diarrhea from my cat. 🤢🤮 can anyone relate…advise?
Tell me about it... My Roomba literally ran over a pile of poo my cat decided to dump on the carpet, made the living room a poo pool... I tried to clean the bottom of Roomba and it seems to have poo deeply embedded inside and dried out... I think a new one is probably the only solution
@@TheGizmoGarage I really have never been happy with mine. My husband thought he was going to make my life easier with the purchase 694 model. I still vacuum after it’s done.
@@mariannecorman We still vacuum too, Roomba is just for in-between cat hair pickup since we have 7 cats it helps. Just not when one of my cat starts to poop outside litter box
@@TheGizmoGarage I just want to reassure you that I was not depending on the Robot to totally clean. Between my husband and myself we were able to clean it up. But now need to find out if there will be odours coming from it. Gizmo (iRobot) may have a second chance.

similar process.

Why not, it worked for years using this method.
Trolls are great 👍
