    Worked great. My Roomba kept giving me an error 8. Per the instruction, I opened the iRobot app and I replaced the rollers, filter and side/crevice brush as shown in the app. Error 8 persisted. I then thoroughly cleaned the dust bin. I even cleaned the small fan in the dust bin after removing the top screws on the bin. Still error 8 persisted. I then found this video and followed all the steps shown. I found the problem on the inside of the Roomba and dust bin frame. The inside of my Roomba was caked with dirt and small hairs. After reassembling the Roomba, my Roomba is happily vacuuming away as I type this.
    Thanks SO much for posting this! Great instructions.

      Usually it's the infrared dust detector, it's been placed on a few spots on Roomba

      Where are the infrared dust detectors? Maybe I didn’t clean them all. My Roomba is now back to giving me error 8. Not sure how to fix it. Ordered a new battery so I’ll try that when it arrives.

    I had an issue with my i7+ making a grinding noise occasionally when turning which I couldn't fix from my regular cleaning. I had no idea you could actually push out the pin from inside the rotating wheel, and I discovered a small strand of sisal cord wrapped around the middle of the pin.
    It was also very satisfying to perform a safe and thorough cleaning of the interior!

    Firstly I’m glad I tripped across your tutorial on deep cleaning the iRobot. Thought I kept it clean but how wrong I was - gross kinda sums it up! I’ve now got my iRobot in pretty good clean state. It said ‘thanks’ with a chime when I put the battery in and it now runs across the floors as if it’s on steroids! Thanks for the detailed step by step guide to cleaning the iRobot.

    • @TheGizmoGarage
      @TheGizmoGarage  Год назад +1

      The wheel will eventually need replacement when texture is lost or stopped turning, if there is hair stuck in-between and wheel is not turning, then you can order replacement wheels on iRobot website, if wheel still turns fine, I think you don't have to worry about those hairs stuck there.

    at 13:00 13:15 you showed the cleaning box. I went a bit further.... First, my Roomba 614 is not charging. Cleaned the contact, same. Green light lits for a min then goes out. I believe the battery is gone. Battery shows 0 V.. took it apart. cleaned dust with water soap and toothbrush, plastic parts are like new.... ANOTHER question about the cleaning box. The cleaning box has a motor and 2 brushes. There is a 1/8 inch red sticker. Under this sticker there is a flexible plastic "wire" or "needle" with a small ball-anchor. The ball remains in the socket under the red sticker, and the plastic "needle" follows a channel in the pulley of the motor. The motor appears to be freely swinging in its socket along its rotor-axle. As the motor turns left-right, the pulley moves. There is a small hole at the end of the pulley channel, where the plastic "needle" appears to enter. This element does not appear to be sold separately. I think I need a replacement of this "needle". Do you know how long is this "needle"? What is the purpose? I think I can use weed-eater string or fishing line, they come at different diameters. I can improvise. Any idea?

    What is the life of hepa and rollers and side brush ,say if I use the ribo once a day for tile floor of 900 Sq ft, not a dirty floor no pets only human hair.

    • @TheGizmoGarage
      @TheGizmoGarage  3 года назад +1

      Roller and side brush, at least 3-5 months, but depending on the floor surface, if they are rough the brush get's worn pretty quickly. The filter, visually inspect, if the other side where air comes out is pretty dark and dirty after regular vacuum and clean of the otherside of the filter, then it's time to replace, we change the air filter every 2-3 months with regular clean of it.
