Thank you! I haven’t used my Roomba in over 6 months because it wouldn’t charge. I’ve called Roomba and they never walked me through this part. They just suggested that I buy a new charging base. I followed your directions and now it’s charging! Thank you again!
Man! I just brought home a 676 that I bought from Hoodwill. It immediately started proclaiming charging error 1. I found a couple of “fixes” before I ran across your video. Thank you very much!
Thanks for the video! My vacuum and charging station looked clean, so I did everything but clean it to get it to charge. No success. Finally, I cleaned it, and it worked. Learned my lesson. Don't trust your eyeballs. If someone says something works, give it a try.
This is awesome, I bought one off a guy today for 50 bucks and that’s why they were selling it…. and I did what you said in the video and it fixed the problem.
Thanks man. This is exactly what I needed. Some lady tried to scam me by charging me $90 for a $400 Roomba because it wasn’t charging and she didn’t know how to fix it but she advertised that it was working perfect and never told me it wasn’t working properly. So I watched the video, Cleaned the contact points and BAM! Charging perfectly. If only she would of did a small amount of research. Her “scam” ended up giving me a homerun of deal.
Thank you so much! I thought either I needed a new battery or that my docking/charging station was done! Followed your instructions and now it's charging!! You're awesome!
jesus... the TINIEST bit of gunk prevents the charge... the TINIEST. Literally a tiny bit of black gunk on one of the chargers prevented charging of my Roomba.. thank you for showing me this. I appreciate it so much.
You have got to be kidding me!! Been trying to get mine to dock but it keeps trying but backs off and will not dock! I watched your video for 55 seconds until you got to the part about cleaning the contacts on the docking station, I paused the video and just tried that....HOLY COW...FIXED!! Thank you sir!!
Thank you! This worked perfectly. And since I didn't have a Magic Eraser handy, I just used an ordinary kitchen sponge and a little water, and put some elbow grease into it. And it worked!
I don't know if you're still making videos but on this one you are a genius! Fixed my Roomba in about 30 seconds. I love your Channel now. Thank you so much
Great video - short, sweet and to the point! Had the exact same problem on the same charging point - can't believe that tiny bit of dirt played a role. Glad I checked for your video before I started pulling things apart 😀 Thanks!
WOW! That was so simple, so basic, so…. easily overlooked! I was afraid this old Roomba had finally kicked the bucket, but this worked beautifully! Thank you so much!
Thank you. We cleaned the contacts, but apparently not enough. We used alcohol -- but needed the big guns of the magic eraser. We have two dogs... and this little vacuum is a God-send for us.
My roomba 690 won't work. When docked on to charger, charger lamp comeson on the charger, clean green light blinks and charging battery blinks red. This goes off after sometime a na na na na beeps. Same cycle repeats again and again. All the contacts are cleaned. Have no idea if battery is charged charging or bad.
i read a comment and that actually fixed mine. It was the tiny bit of dirt on the contacts! First thing. I had already wiped with my finger before and figured they were "clean enough". But? Nope. I took some rubbing alcohol and wiped them off. Indeed, those specs of "dirt" actually made it glitch and not charge properly. GREAT!!!
Good video, I am amazed. Cleaned the charger and roomba connectors made it where it would charge again. Thanks. Good Job. The roomba does a great job of cleaning the shop floor. Max our dog constantly shedding.
Wow I was about to buy another one and decided to take a look on RUclips videos, you are the first video I watched and it fixed it it started charging immediately, thanks for saving me a good chunk of $$$ , great video 👍👍
I don't have any Mr. Clean Magic Erasers on hand, so before running to the store I decided to try it with a clean rag and some rubbing alcohol. It worked just fine. Thanks for this video!
thank you! a little embarrassing that all i needed to do was clean the sensors, but i'm glad i found your video before i spent hundreds on a new robot, lol.
You’re a life saver. I had ordered a new battery for my roomba and was waiting for it to arrive, should’ve looked on here first to see the easy solution
Omg i was about to search for new batteries for my roomba I had a 1st gen roomba that would need batteries replaced in the end I bought a new one and when it started no to charge I got frustrated figured oh well thats that! I’m sooo happy I came across your video first, I couldn’t believe that was the issue all along. THANK YOU 🙏
Thank you so much to the creators of this video...we had the same problem but I didn't have the Magic Eraser so we used the Lysol All purpose cleaner and that did the job too! Thank you once again for such an easy fix!
Thankyou so much!! I did the magic eraser and then rubbing alcohol . Perfect now!! Your video just saved my carpet cleaning baby! Lol! Thankyou for the much needed advice and your video! Hundred thumbs up on this video!! So appreciated!!!!!!
Omg. This video was great. Straight to the point. And so helpful. I was about to buy a new battery thinking that was the problem. I had no idea that a small amount of dirt can actually stop it from working. I got my magic eraser and tried it. And now my roomba is working again. Thank you 😊
with the name puymouret i thanked you just over a year ago for help. Now I'm back to say it all over again. the issue this time was the spring contacts on the charger. I opened up the charger and found one of the contacts was stuck down. a bit for fiddling and it came back up fully. Thanks again, by the way i just checked and my roomba 760 is now NINE years old and still going strong. PS , i did not know about the side charging port but it does not seem to work anyway but nice to know about, thanks yet again
Thank you! I've been battling this problem for a week! Although I had wiped the sensors off, it was apparently not enough, so thank you for posting this! Magic Eraser for the win!
Upon removing the battery of our new unit, I noticed that one of the battery contact springs was bent off to the side, thus no contact. I bent the spring up straight and life is good now. Seems necessary to clean charging contacts about once a year based on the older one we have. Thanks for the video. Roomba on.
Wish I would have found this months ago lol. We’ve been using dog toys or wash cloths to heighten the back to get it to charge! Now I can use the scheduling feature again because it won’t be stuck in place by a dog toy lol! Thanks 100x!
I had an error 3 as well. I cleaned the contacts inside and out. Still had the same issue. I accidentally dropped the Roomba from a few inches and the error 3 went away. So I thought all was good. After one cleaning and testing...the error 3 came back. I felt that the circuit board may be good, but the manner of which it charges may be the culprit. I took everything apart once again and notices some dark gray foam pads that secured the battery upright. Besides flipping the spring contacts that touches the battery to the circuit board and cleaning them the first time, this time, I removed the foam pads...added some additional padding with a foam tape, placed the dark gray foam pads on top of the foam tape and the units error 3 went away. Charging was back to normal and battery charging all okay. Thought I would mention it here since I was about to change the board but was hesitant since I didn't want to shell out the extra $ for a new board. Thx for the repair video regardless!
Thanks so much! That fixed the issue. I suspected that it wasn’t making contact and I cleaned them with a dry cloth. I used the magic eraser as you suggested & that was the ticket . Works perfectly.
Another reason your roomba fails to charge is the charging cord became Lose. After cleaning the sensors as mention (i used alcohol as on viewer mentioned they do) it still would not charge then i began to trouble shoot. It was the cord.
Thank you this video fixed the issue. Thought I had to buy a new one or something or a new battery but this was an easy fix. You just saved us money lol
Thank you! This worked for me. One question, my roomba seems to last about 30 min now before it dies. Is battery replacement do-able? Or should I just buy a new model?
The battery is easy to change. Just take the one Phillips screw out for the side sweeper and then the other four Phillips head screws in the base. Lift the cover off and the battery pulls right up and out.
