- Let's talk about bisexuality in manga or the lack thereof. I wish I had more recommendations but I've not been a huge fan of how bisexuality is sometimes portrayed in manga.

Thank you all for watching all the Pride Manga videos I posted! Let me know your thoughts about bisexuality in manga and post your recommendations if you have any.
hi laura.. how are you.. laura when are you making another haircut video... love u laura
Semantic Error. Korean manwha. Both MC:s are bi. And theres a female bi sidecharacter too. And they are CLEARLY stated as BI.
As I've gotten into more BL mahnwas, I am seeing more positive (or maybe neutral) bi representation there where often a ML has had a GF in the past but that's it. It's not used as a way to stir drama or question sexuality.
That's really good to know! I still need to check out some physical BL manhwas now that there's a few that have physical copies.
Do you have read Ao no Flag? I personally like the way bisexuality is presented there, but I'm not sure how other people see it.
I still need to read it. It's one that kept popping up on manga recommendations with bisexual characters.
@@LauraNeuzeth hope you enjoy it. Truly happy to find your channel through your pride videos. I get so many recommendations :3 Thank you!
As a long time manga reader (since the 80s) manga doesn't shy away from the topics of sex and gender issues. In fact it's very overt and pronounced. In fact some of the most celebrated manga titles sex and gender play role in the storytelling.
I didn’t manga does that but when it comes to open bisexuality, there is far less representation in manga. This was the last video which was part of my Pride Month Manga recs, so we talked a lot about the different sexualities and gender identities presented in manga.
Hi Laura i loved your video series, i got some great recommendations, i was thinking that there is a manga with bi representation Monster and the Beast has a MC that is bi but he is kinda a flawed character you should check it out and let me know what you think, I just remembered Barbarities is another with a bi character but he is a bit pushy with his love interest
Ohhh I'll have to look into it! I don't think I have looked up that series yet. Thank you so much!
Do any of these have an anime?
yeaaah i totally get uuu T____T i just recently asked on reddit for more bi FLs but there are absolutely none that i haven't already read :')
im also very tired of bisexuality being used for drama.. bcs most of the times it stops being insecurity and just starts to be blatant biphobia which is... eh
i have got a few recs.. altho its been a while since ive read them and my memory sucks so im not really sure if these fit the bill x')
1. breathless momentum, ML is very into men and women and very much bisexual i forgot about the 2nd lead but ithink he was bi too
2. ring my bell, now this one ive read a long time ago. i dont remember if the 2nd lead is bi or not but iirc her friend had chapters where she was exploring her sexuality and realized shes bi and she embraces it (IIRC!!!)
3. i cannot reach you, ML is not a proud bi or anything but still a bi boy :D i found the way the author dealt with him coming to terms with his feelings nice. he never went "i like GIRLS tho!!! i cant like him too". there was a girl introduced there but it was looong b4 he knew he was in love with the 2nd lead so i dont consider it drama /about bisexuality/ tbh? bcs both ML and 2nd lead didnt know ML is attracted to men as well.
and lastly, one thing i hate in some mangas portraying bisexuality is the whole "no im not into guys/girls im only into u" like yeah no shit sherlock its not like you're gonna go like someone else while you already have someone, i dont like it when they say "im straight but gay for you" you're BI who leans toward the opposite sex. that's what you are. idc if you'll never ever get attracted to the same sex again. you were once therefore you're bi
It's SO hard to find any bi FL's. 😭 A lot of times the drama does come across as biphobia in my opinion. I also dislike the "I'm straight but gay for you" it irks me so much. One of my friends pointed out that the lack of bisexuality in manga might be to avoid confusion between yuri and BL. If the Japanese manga market doesn't want to create yet another genre for bisexual works, at least lump with the other queer works. I feel like people would benefit seeing well written bisexual characters.
Thank you for the recommendations. I completely forgot that I Cannot Reach You does have bi representation! It's one of my favorite BL's.
I would love more bi rep!!!
