gameranx finally getting gjallahorn in destiny one was my happiest moment in gaming
In gw2 when I got all the gnomes and unlocked millions of in game coins that's one of them I was younger probably why I was so exited

Mine would have to be Assassins Creed 2 Altair’s Armor.
This was cool too and almost forgot it! Tho it was quite easy and fast to get so I won't say it would have been the favorite/proudest one for me.
Altair, my friend!
I seriously just got that amour for the first time in February of 2020 sorry I'm late I just got the game for Christmas
Armor of Brutus, Brotherhood
Yeah the armor was pretty cool but it was pretty easy and boring to get
Gameranx: *mentions KNights of the Round*
Me: *remembers going through absolute hell using days of my life doing chocobo breeding and materia combinations* I eventually had a set-up where anytime i would summon knights of the round, it'd do it like 5 times. Could literally go make dinner and come back and it'd still wouldn't be finished.
Lol you are not lying. I had my Knights of the Round set up to double-cast and had that linked quad summon fighting against Ruby weapon in the desert literally went downstairs made a sandwich ate it and came back up and it was still going
Unlocking playable characters in fighting games. I really miss that.
TEKKEN 3 does that make me think about. Or soul blade for ps1
@@coffybloffy4566 GON!!!!!
Smash still does that.
I remember spending hours playing Tekken 5 just to unlock Devil Jin. Good times.
PAragon Bytes I spent hours in tekken force with Hwoarang and Kazuya but I would get to the temple and get my shit handed to me because there was no chicken drop.
I summoned Knights of the Round when FF7 1st released. I'm still waiting for them to wrap it up.
Unlocking the scarab gun in Halo 2! Man going through all that trouble to get a banshee through the tunnel without actually piloting the thing, to eventually flying it to a far off bridge to actually get the most op weapon for a level was really fun to do!
Getting enough studs for Obi Wan (Ghost) in Lego Star Wars.

Collecting all gems in Sonic 2 to get Super Sonic, that was one of the moment I can forget when I was a kid ❤
I remember getting all the chaos emeralds and unlocking the doomsday zone on Sonic and Knuckles
I got all the chaos emeralds in Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and 3 and Knuckles and was blown away until I played Sonic and Knuckles with Sonic 3 attached if you collect all 7 Chaos Emeralds before mushroom Hill Zone you unlock the super Emerald then you can play the bonus stage to collect them and if you collect all seven super emeralds you could become Hyper Sonic or hyper knuckles which made me completely lose it at the time
"The coolest armor was the hayabusa"
It was cool... but the recon armor tho...
Big facts, it was also harder cause you had to get all the vidmasters in halo 3 and in odst
Yea having the Halo:Master chief collection is great/fun for this

I loved the RYNO (and harbinger) from Ratchet and Clank. They were such fun and overpowered weapons and took a satisfying amount of time to unlock. I might even add the Ultima Weapon from KH3 stupidly tedious to unlock, but SOOO much power!
I like the Ghost recon wildlands's endoskeleton armor that You get when You finish the game on Ghost mode
I remember DK3 on SNES, you could drive your boat around the 4 rocks in the lake to unlock the volcano world, but you could only unlock all the stages by collecting the 85 bonus coins around the world. After that you could fight a boss. It isn't really an unlockable, but it was so much worth it

Man! Those Goldeneye cheats were MY JAM! I dont think the hours we spent screaming at each other over that game are countable lol. We used to turn on slow motion mode and run around with remote mines, which would fly in slow motion when you tossed them. SO FUN. Thanks for this video!!! Loved it! I had all the Halo unlockable armor. loved mixing them up.
Gameranx makes me feel good about my age. Not only listing old games makes me feel like I belong in the gaming community since I didn’t really get involved until like Halo 3 in ‘07
Edit: To clarify, I’m only 19. What I was saying was that I’m not very fond the uprising of battle royal games as the new meta that developers have adopted, but I also don’t come from the generation of gamers that played the original Metroid, street fighters, of conventional side scrolling games of the past. I grew up playing games like halo 3 or story driven games like assassins creed 2 so it’s always nice when game like the last of us, tomb raider, and uncharted come along. Or the elder scrolls series come along in my generation. I wish more studios would start to reopen their minds to the idea of story games. And do it correctly. Detroit become human is the last game I played where I began SO utterly invested in a game. The thing that drew me to game in the first place. Escaping the mundane orders of my daily life to stop the Proffet of Truth, or relive the life of Ezio. I miss those days of gaming. Now all I see is a ton of BR games that profit off of changing cosmetic applications to your character and not from a finished product that entraps your attention. Hopefully the next COD will do it.
Lol me too. Halo 3 ODST started it All, then followed all the other halo games. What were we even playing before that? Yea pokemon and all was good but Halo was my first real online Multiplayer game.
Stfu you boomer
Jk, I love you and hope you have a good day
Halo 3 and beyond, Pokémon diamond and pearl, Mario kart was my start
Halo 2 started a lot of lan party's still love that guitar work in the theme
The fact that there is a video on this subject just goes to show how shitty the industry has become in recent years. The joy of unlocking things and having that feeling of accomplishment and progression, has been completely replaced with greed.
Thank you to Nintendo for continuing to do things the right way!
And capcom to some extent

I remember getting the hand cannon. It completely trivialized every encounter in the game.
One quick revision, It was Ruby weapon in FF7 not Emerald that gives you the gold Chocobo. The Earth Harp from Emerald gives you the master materias. Desert Rose from Ruby gets the Chocobo.
That ruby weapon fight was the hardest battle in the whole game. Salute to you for being one of the O.G's that took him down. Took me two hours the first time I beat him.
take notes kids and game publishers, this is how cosmetics are *SUPPOSED* to work and how they *_USED TO WORK_* before you ruined it for everyone ("you" mostly referring to the greedy publishers who put mister krabs to shame)

um... normal english and sentence structures please?
you can NOT tell me all these companies that make millions of pounds need microtransactions to make money, you know how you make money off games? _by selling the damn games,_ along with making good DLC expansion packs that add hours upon hours of good bonus content that they didnt cut from the game to resell
the only time its acceptable to make us pay for cosmetics is when a game is free, cause, like the name implies, they make no money off people buying the game, and therefor need to sell cosmetics to make that money
edit: i didnt "take a shot and miss, bro", just stating the obvious, halo reach never tried to squeeze your bank account dry for every last pound by selling cosmetics, every single cosmetic in the game could only be earned through gameplay, and it was the same with every single game that had cosmetics in them since games first started having cosmetics, the first time someone tried to sell cosmetics was bethesda in oblivion, ( *_I THINK,_* dont quote me on that, it was one of the first at least) and they got nuked with backlash for it, how it became an acceptable thing to do for paid games, ESPECIALLY full priced £60 games, is beyond me

Paintball mode in 007. Man you just made me remember that. The colors... so much time on that. Amazing to know that many others were doing the same thing too. Thanks.
People now a days: Oh, good o'l days. The game companies were so honest and hardworking. the old was gold. I wish if I could go back to my old games! They were so fair and good!!!
Also people now a days: Yay! We want battle royale, we want multiplayer mode, we want kick ass online, we want co-op, we want to win easy way!!!!!!
Your generalizing. Older, experienced OG gamers want the good old days. It's the young kids who don't know any better that are fucking things up. I'm not blaming them, they don't know what gaming was 20 years ago, as much as I want to. But they are the problem.
Ok boomer
@@TheExplosiveGuy You right. I still use my GameCube and N64
@@Zarkaithnia Right on my dude, I love rocking my old systems from when I was a kid too. I never had a GameCube, but I had a PlayStation and old school N.E.S., love em. I play all my PlayStation childhood favorites emulated on my phone with a Bluetooth gamepad (free plus like $2.50 for the app, ePSXe, and game roms are downloaded for free) which is incredible. I'll be minding my own business and a memory of an old game will pop up in my head, so I research the name if I can't remember then download it within minutes of remembering. It's like owning every PS1 game in the world, you just have to remember what games you want to play. There's even online multiplayer! Haven't tried that one out yet so who knows if it works, but it's there. Oldies but Goldies...
@@TheExplosiveGuy Yeah man I need to get into the emulator game lol. Will last longer than my GameCube lol. I've known about'em for years too. Heck my brother had a small handeld emulator from Think Geek. Emulated I think SNES and NES games.

Those good ‘ol days when you play a complete game when it release
Back then: games were released when fully finished
Nowadays: cut contents to sell as DLC later, gigantic patches(looking at you Ubisoft), annoying DRM, video games as a live service.
Nomad 5577 no matter how bad Ubisoft is it’s always won’t be as big of a sell out as EA
@@xswxdegree9152 I don't hate Ubisoft, their recent releases have been pretty decent so far.
I dislike the way they are dealing with patches for their games. For example, I had to download 12-18 GB of "patch" everytime they update GRW.
Nomad 5577 yeah I agree with you but I swear I’m gonna run out of space by next year because of this game

Playing with the Bungie devs rocking the blue flaming helmet was dope af
If that was Halo reach they prob werent employees because i had blue flame recon in halo reach.
If I remember there were days where you played with the devs and you unlocked the blue flame. Sadly I wasn’t able to get it :((
You get the blue flames via the Bungie website for a limited time.
But not to worry, its coming back in the Master Chief Collection.
You had to beat the devs in a slayer match for the flaming recon helmet and no it wasnt blue that was a different one.
My proudest unlock in a game is definitely Recon armor on H3. Grinding those Vidmasters on ODST was so worth it.
6:14 definitely clicked the video because of that thumbnail.... the memories :')

Bandana unlimited ammo as well
Yeah, first time getting it then punching people at the back of their heads and all they can say is "huh? Who's there?" was extremely fun and satisfying.
This needs a part 2, such a good subject
One of my favorites is an indie game called Cloning Clyde. Unlock all achievements (not too terribly difficult but did require dedication) got you the ultimate clone. Basically combined all the different clones abilities into one and you could play through every level with the feeling of ultimate power. The game was couch co-OP so doing it with friends was also pretty fun.
d.n.aint. hated that shit towards the end!
Unlocking Recon Armor from Halo 3 & Halo ODST was definitely my peak unlockable.
Bandersnatch same. i was so disappointed when they gave everyone recon later on.
Yeah recon was the best, people would sent you friend requests just because you had it
Spending hours on the forums looking for a squad to do the highway mission fom ODST and the final mission of 3 haha
I felt really proud when I managed to unlock the water sword in Prince of Persia: Warrior Within that you use yo defeat the Dahaka and get the true ending

Hayabusa was my favorite, I used it most of the time. Than there’s the legendary Recon some say it was never real.
In Titan Quest, you have a small chance of getting "Overlord" a small turtle key, to drop from Hades the last boss of the Immortal Throne DLC. It gives you access to a secret room where you fight monsters with the names of the devs, and it has a pretty good loot chest in it.
Also Titan Quest if you get to Ragnoruk on the Legendary setting ( hardest game mode) you can start a secret quest to get "Primrose" a little frog key, that unlocks a secret area where you can fight the devs of the Ragnoruk DLC, and also loot, good loot.
EA: *THAT WASNT VERY CASH MONEY OF YOU*
Knights of the Round was freaking awesome everytime I played it. I didn't care that it was long. I stopped what I was doing so I could sit back and experience it. I loved that one.
I loved to use that with W-summon and two mimes
Awesome video, thank you :)
The requirements for the Katana chest piece in halo never changed. The game unlocked a few of the armor pieces based on gamerscore. The Katana required 1000 gamerscore to unlock, which at release was ALL the achievements in Halo 3, but when they did the Title Update and added the achievements for the new map packs and vidmasters, halo 3 now had a gamerscore of around 1500, but it didnt matter what achievements you got, when you got to 1000 gamerscore you unlocked the katana
Getting all the cheats in Golden Eye was a headache and too many "so close's."
You can't have 2 player without stuff to mess with.
Multiplayer with the goldengun was the shiznit!
Roger Louttit I remember playing it when I was like 7 that game was hella fun. I was always scared of playing the last mission tho when ur in Egypt or something
Just an fyi... the gold chocabo was unlocked beating ruby weapon not emerald. You get the item desert rose... that is what you give to get the gold chocabo. Great vid tho keep it up
That's a challenge, i have not beat ruby without have a gold first. Though mimeing (miming?) The shit out of omislash is fun.
This was the only flaw in the video I found, as well. Emerald weapons rewards extra master materia, not the gold chocobo! Good catch.
Awesome Video as always.
I really love the legendary stuff in Guild Wars 2, it looks very cool and you get an armor or weapon that you can change stats with a fwe clicks
I’d like to add the special tech armor from Horizon: Zero Dawn. It’s the most badass looking armor in the game and makes you damn near invincible. And it takes forever and a day to find all the prerequisites.
#1 : Haunted Helmet from Halo Reach
I didn’t even get the katana in halo 3 until recently lmao. Got it in like 2018
Yeah hayabusa is cool and all but you should’ve mentioned the “road to recon” vidmaster achievements from halo 3
Best part about them: you couldn't look them up on the internet, you had to either hear about it and rumored from friends or FIND it on your own by pure chance
I mean in all fairness a lot of these were during the internet age.
However I agree that the best part is finding something unique without the aid of guides.
lol the eyes on the Tofu cracked me, SUPER GOOD TIMMING!
The tofu has EYES?!?
OMG BONUS CONTENT!
The Rainbow Phoenix in Guild Wars has to be my favorite unlockable in any game thus far.
(took way too much work to get, but it was so worth it)
My proudest game moment was unlocking all characters in assassin’s creed brotherhood.
Woah woah woah MegaMan has a Shoryuken, I heard about the Hadouken on the playground back then, but t not the Shoryuken, man learning something new from old games, that s is why I love gameranx.
Nah it was Hadouken.
the grind to unlock characters in smash bros melee on gamecube. legendary
If I remember correctly the hayabusa wasn't actually that hard to get (I'm pretty sure you just needed to find all the hidden skulls) but the katana was really challenging and impressive. (I'm pretty sure you needed to get 1000 gamerscore and had to unlock at least 50 achievements in halo 3)
Thay classified background for the golden eye cheats brings back so much memories...great game.
My greatest gaming achievement was unlocking all the cheats, weapons multiplayer characters and secret levels in Goldeneye 64.
Hayabusa armor I remember the days. Miss those days. Or in Halo 1 when you could do split screen and try to scale down mountains to skip ahead of certain parts of the game.
Tofu!! I remember unlocking him on n64. Good memories.
The classic link outfit isn't good statswise but I loved collecting them all.
That and amiibos, lol

@@_Luluko_ Whoosh?
Bungie had a game called Minotaur: The Labyrinths of Crete 2 years before Marathon came out. I believe their first official game was called Operation Desert Storm. While I owned all the Marathon games on Macintosh back in the day, my personal favorite Bungie game is still Pathways Into Darkness. I still dream of a remake /remaster or better yet maybe a reboot of that game.
Nicocide is that the Tomb-kinda one that may or may not have been set in Ww2?
Metal Gear Solid on the psx, clearing the game with both Otacon and Meryl then once more, so a total of three times unlocks a tucedo for Snake, a crop top for Meryl and Deepthroat/Cyborg ninja has an alternate red/purple outfit thats just amazing, on your fourth playthrough. Miss old school unlockables.
Black Ops 2: Diamond Camo
Division 2: Hunter masks, Ivory Keys, etc.
Fallout 76: Getting a Refund
May not be exactly what you are talking about, but I really like the way that Payday 2's achievements will unlock multiple items from cosmetics to weapon attachments. It makes the achievements that much more enticing to go after.
And with over 1100 achievements in the game, you're not going to be short on items any time soon.
Sean McMillan i dunno man. Some of payday 2 achievements were pretty redonkulous lol

For the first couple weeks when no one was able to beat the fault of glass I was running around multiplayer just MELTING people. It was hilariously overpowered and deserves a spot on that list!
I gotta mention the Vile playthrough on Maverick Hunter X after completing the game as X. That was a pleasant surprise with very different gameplay. Also unlocking the Hunter attack chopper in GTA San Andreas by getting all gold medal in flight school.
TimeSplitter 2 or 3 (can't remember) had cool mini games you could pickup and find while doing the story mode. Picking them up would unlock retro games like snake/anaconda
UMMMMM GODHEAD! In the Binding of isaac, most satisfying unlock ever. i remember just jumping 10 feet in the air when i finally unlocked it. soooo many runs, so many hours.... so many deaths and broken remotes.
