This is the first time hearing Mr. Brown , and the man can play that guitar like it ain't noone's business. Damn he was good ! RIP Mr. Brown , much respect
Everyone's solo is awesome, but I have to admit.... I keep watching the beginning over and over! Such a cool and fully natural player, wow... Oh, his tone!!!!
Seen him in CT. With my father as a young man. Had a concert shirt till my mid twenties. Amazing in person and I got to say live is where he shined. RIP.
April 18th: Happy birthday Blues Singer-Guitarist Clarence "Gatemouth" Brown (1924-2005) Grammy Award: Best Traditional Blues Album, Rhythm & Blues Foundation Pioneer Award. Thank you and God bless. Thanks for the upload, gibsonajpicker. Blessings
There's a storm a comin and it's CGB!'... Man, I was lucky enough to get to sing this with him at a concert in NY... What a sad, tragic end for such a nice, super talented man. RIP my brotha.... Your old friend, The Hittman
MISS YOU GATE !!!! I WAS SOO LUCKY TO HAVE KNOWN HIM GREAT SENSE OF HUMOR AND HE DIDNT TAKE ANY SHIT EITHER FROM NO ONE !:) I SAW WHIP A GUY WITH A GARDEN HOSE ONCE LMAO 79 YRS. OLD!!! HE WAS AN HONORARY SHERIFF OF THE ST. TAMMANY PERISH SHERIFFS DEPT. AND CARIED A 357
JJ Cale took from him, that's true. He is playing blues licks mostly, maybe mixolydian scale here and there and he also plays rhythm changes, like, he follows the chord notes.
All my favorite guitar players are named Johnny. I may have to break with tradition and add Clarence. Damn this dude can play! Love his unique note choices.
Thanks for posting! Is that Harry Stinson on drums? I had several Gatemouth cassettes back in the day and played them alot. I also liked the album he did with Roy Clark around 1980 - Makin' Music.

But why is Uncle Joey playing drums?
JJ Cale took a lot of his guitar style from Clarence G Brown
