He's buried in my hometown of Beaumont, Texas in an unmarked grave. A couple of miles away they just tore down the building where Johnny and Edgar Winter went to high school, along with George Jones, The Big Bopper, and trumpeter Harry James to name a few. There's some strange musical pulse flowing through the nearby Neches River. You would never know it just passing through.

I gotta say, you have great taste in music. Even gave me a band or two to look up. Always love finding new music.

Just think, this song is going into the endless dark cold void of space and have the tunes of a cry for help.

My favorite story ever is when John Fahey was played BWJ’s “Praise God , I’m Satisfied” and was repulsed. It was a rejection of what he was hearing with incomparable physical effects on Fahey. His little fit was even noticeable to people around him, and the record was cut off. Fahey took a minute to recover and process what he could from his reaction. Shockingly he asked for the same exact song to be played again from the start. The person playing the records complied with perplexed hesitancy, but it was only a few seconds in when John realized he was hearing pure emotion and energy and he felt warm and at ease with all life’s problems this time around. He dropped to his knees and wept.
It reminds of the tales of a human trying to look upon an angel in its true form, and it just being a burst of all sensations and stimulation human’s minds, hearts, souls, and bodies can give. Fahey lived the rest his life as the most fanatical lover of early Delta/Piedmont style blues. Like Fahey, Johnson is still a top name of the extensive list containing my favorite blues artists. Bukka White, Broonzy, and Sleepy John Estes are the only names that I might rank higher for me personally.
