Cobain himself wrote in his diaries that "Smells Like Teen Spirit" that the song resembles a lot a Blue Oyster Cult whose title i don't remember. I listened to the song, when I read the statement , and boy he was right. The BOC song reminds t "S.L.T.S." more than any of the tunes i've heard here, so far. He probably hasn't intentionally ripped BOC off, tho. He noticed the similarity after having wrote amd recorded the hit. EDIT : the song is "Godzilla", and reminds "Smells Like Teen Spirit" only in its initial part. All in all, besides the starting riff of the allegedly ripped off song, i don't hear all these similarities between the two bands.

Boston “more than a feeling”

It should be noted... They were never "country". This isn't country music. They were a punk/grunge band wearing costumes. There's irony in that song "I got Texas". Listing all the things he doesn't have, but implying that he at least has his "hometown" in his heart, but he isn't from Texas. The hidden message to the audience is that he was telling them he feels like he has nothing, and the only thing he does have is fake. AND a layer beyond that is that it's from the point of view from the fictional character he created. They were 10 years too early. Intoxicated fever dream music didn't take off until the 90's... And a grand testament to how we hear music based on what we see.
