Growing up I thought she was literally the hottest female lead of any band, group, solo act, whatever. Seriously, as cool as any cool chick could ever hope to be, rocked fucking hard, and wasn't bad to look at either. I used to tell my friends and bandmates that I was gonna marry her one day, even though the chances of us ever being anywhere near each other are so close to zero it is impossible to calculate, lol. This was a great video, and I'd be very happy to see more about her, her relationship with Tim Timebomb Armstrong, and more about the Distillers as well. Thanks for sharing this with us!
Mark Lanegan tells how Josh stole her from Tim in his book "Sing Backwards and Weep". Apparent he hated Tim and egged Josh on to go at Brody. We all know what happened next.
Her grandfather was Al Costello, never heard that anywhere before, huge wrestling fan my whole life, the Kagaroos were before my time, but I know they were a huge deal in the 50’s and 60’s where tag teams were headlining shows. They were still talked about in the 1980s wrestling magazines to where I knew how big they were.
I’m letting my two and a half years old daughter watching music videos and concerts recordings because I grew up in a music-less household until I was 16 and got mind blown by the power of Music, any Music. She’s very impressed by this video and I promised her right here, right now that I will bring her to concerts whenever I will have the opportunity (and money!). Music is Life 🤟🏻
I remember back in 2002 seeing them at a tiny place in San Diego. Then the Transplants came on next and everyone was like, "wtf was that?!" High school was rad.
All I can say is I’m close to her age, and I remember being 13-14 playing with a lot of those punk bands on Hellcat. I never went too far, but to be just 13 and have someone at 29 Tim Armstrong at the time…someone who held a LOT of weight in the punk world give you attention. That’s a bit much…she later defended him saying he had the brain of a 14 year old and was sober. Although he was a grown man at the time. Whatever she went through and especially that Hellcat scene…it was no secret a lot of those bands picked up on teenage girls. I’d watch them do it when I was a teen. That era of 96-2004 was a weird time. She seems cool, but anyone that lived that life couldn’t imagine they are 100% stable. It would be hard for anyone to just only ever play music, and be surrounded by men in that scene. Hope she does well with whatever is next. She could have gone many directions…beastie boys were signing as well. I was at video filming for At The Drive in 1999 debut single. I’m sure they had interest signing her, as they did At The Drive In. A lot of what could have been for sure. I do feel bad for a Josh Homme though. He talked her up so much, and seem to really still be in love 20 years into it. Apparently she has some issues to work out, and it was a bit nasty in the press.
Josh Homme didn't just alienate her kids from her, he sent them to a messed up rehabilitation camp when they wanted nothing to do with him. She spent years fighting to see her kids, I don't know if she has seen them though. He's a narcissist and I lost all respect for him seeing her struggles. I don't understand why people cannot just walk away from relationships, or how they can use kids as pawns in sick games.
Everyone knew Josh was a douche, ever since he appeared on the scene, what he did is subhuman, but I'm sure people were warning her about him through times, that said, she isn't an angel either, she manipulated Tim in similar ways and then walked all over him. Karma is a bitch.
not taking sides, but it's clear that all sides ever involved have issues. be it tim, be it brody and homme. you don't have to take sides. yeah, what tim did was messed up, but homme's actions are also. who knows what brody did behind closed doors. i am still rooting for her to see her kids.
Brody is one of the best girl lead singers , she was a great rhythm guitar player and the Distillers were soooo underated it is crazy, her song writing is great and her songs are powerful and live they are awesome . Not to mention she is the hottest lead singer! The whole band plays their heart out and Brody's voice never fails. Great band!!!!
Somewhere in the 90s in an Orlando Florida warped tour my friends and I met Tim Armstrong and Lars Fredrickson. Tim walked out of their way to come ask if we were in a band and did we have a demo tape? I’m not sure if Lars was married at the time, but his girl was with him and Tim introduced us to his fresh bride Brody, who he went out of his way to say was the love of his life. They seemed very, very, very in love, and he seemed totally enamored with her, even as a teen, it struck me as heartwarming how much he loved her. The guy could’ve had any woman on earth probably and he had the one that you could tell he just truly and completely loved.
She has to come back. The Distillers speak for people, her art is bigger than herself, she is a real icon. We wish wish wish she gets full control over her own life again, for her own living sake. And for us out here. The band, Brody, do stuff and it speaks for all of us. She has to come back. Your video is a great reminder!!!

This is a bit one sided in the case of her kids with Josh Homme. The court granted him sole custody, Brody broke a court order regarding the children and has a restraining order against her and her boyfriend Gunner Foxx. These cases are always complicated and I'm not saying Dalle is the bad guy here.
I've seen Rancid at the Eastpack Deconstruction Tour in Berlin and Tim's performance was absolutly horrendous - me and my friends looked at each other in disbelief. You saw that in the thumbnail, right? RUclips has a new feature where we can use 3 thmbnails to see which one works out better, and i've decided to try it out in this video, so one of the thumbnails says that because i've basically run out of ideas.

@@PunkTome ahh I see and I watched it too another great vid bro.be really cool to see you cover some crust/gutter punk and folk punk bands in the future
Siouxsie, Gaye Advert!?!
@@baabaabaa-yp2jh as I said the list can go on and on with people who deserve that title more.
Can you do my Favorite Band " The Sea and Cake"
Time for a new trend Punk is almost 50years aint got angst no more!
Hey Bree, I would love to see you play live at the Tote one day. C'mon, close the circle, you're too far from Nth Fitzroy!
I saw them at emos Austin. It was absolutely the most boring punk show I’ve been to in 40 years. She stopped for 3 minutes between EVERY 2 minute song. Not saying a word. She owes me $29
Distillers were a great band
Love Brody! That voice!
Not sure why he said "rose left" but shown Kim chi? Obviously doesn't know the band members 😕
Sounds like a rough ride.
he was 29 and a poor junkie
never noticed how she went from being Courtney Love, to Rancid, to Queens of the stone age and never really showed who she really was. Culture vulture.
I womder what her little ones think of her career
Lawd Jesus she aged nicely..
She shoulda stayed with Tim. He wouldn't have done that childless breakup shit
Boo! Punk rock and royalty don't go together.
Why do my comments always disappear?!?!
i can read both of your comments
@@PunkTomeyeah, my phone keeps doing something stupid after I post a comment. It disappears for a while, but if I leave the video and watch a few minutes of a different one, then come back and check the comments they come back. 🤷🏼♂️ Maybe I'm just losing my mind? I really don't know.
@@DeathMetalDerf 🤣
😈🔱👿.. I sincerely hope Brody finds a man that's worthy of her one day after being with the loser toads I've seen her with...
Wait, her grandad was Al Costello of the Fabulous Kangaroos!? What The Fuck
That blew my mind too.
where was the mom when she started to destroy herself??
to bad you missed these people at their peak i like a channel that knows what hes talkin about do something you know about
Sounds like Swerve Driver? no
Liked the distillers since thps4 had that song on it, she's great. Josh Homme was a dick to her I heard.
Despite Hole similarities, they did have good sound and could have sparked bigger scene. Rancid is great band but Armstrong was probably in wrong and it's pathetic two great bands kind of flamed out over the split.
She’s like a young Courtney love but cooler
I'm not into punk music, but I do like her voice a lot, she sounds like Courtney Love if Courtney Love had talent.
CHRONICLING THE SPIRITUALLY DISPOSSESSED!!!
How brave 🏳️🌈✊🏿
My buddy made out with her right after he threw up. Fitzgeralds, Houston TX late 90’s.
Its pretty obvious tim wrote all their good songs. And Sourpuss was all about nirvana
Make dominated ? Um what about Siouxee , poly styrene , poison ivy, shonen knife , Debby Harry , the go gos, Kira roessler you muppet ?
She got all hot topic'd up and made a living copying everybody else. Nothing original about her or her music. Even the spice girls sold 80 million albums. Being popular doesn't mean you're good lol.
I love what you're doing brother. Keep it up
Maybe born too late but awesome
kayfabe
I will never forgive what this woman did to Josh Homme. Full blown sociopath.
what did she do? I got some vague memory of a custody court case?
Yeah she is an awful person and mother. She is talented though but karma has stopped her from being very successful.
