  • In 1980, Norman Lubow (aka Reverend Bud Green), a controversial figure with a penchant for stirring the pot on national television, founded the Religion of Drugs in Southern California.
1994 was a pivotal year for Lubow. Dubbed "The Year of the Bud," it began with the tragic death of Kurt Cobain on April 8. Shortly afterward, alongside El Duce (The Mentors), who passed a polygraph test, they claimed Courtney Love had approached El Duce to kill Cobain. This led to Robert Lee's (Seattle journalist) relentless pursuit of statements from Love and Krist Novoselic (ex-Nirvana).
As Jack Briggs - another alias - Lubow called the police with claims about Courtney Love and El Duce.
In June, the OJ Simpson saga unfolded with the murder of his wife. Lubow, allegedly using the alias Ron X, passed a polygraph test claiming he sold meth to OJ on the night of the murder. This claim made headlines but was later dismissed during the trial.
