As a musician, and a fan of this full catalog, I would personally choose Citizen Erased if you want some sick guitar and bass. One of the earliest tracks and I find it to be quite aggressive lyrically. People don't realize how dark Muse really is. A lot of folks just listen to the guitar and effects, and I would say "listen to the content". I am an old school metalhead that ignored Muse early on, but Stockholm Syndrome is where I went down the rabbit hole with these guys as well (a long time ago). Enjoy your journey, they are that f'ing brilliant!!! peace

Muse were a heavy rock band, centred on guitar and bass with heavy distortion, long before they ever picked up a synth. If you ever hear say someone say "Muse aren't what they were" this is what they mean. I like the new stuff (everything they've released since 2006/7), but I LOVE the old stuff. Sounds like you're on board, so welcome!

    Citizen Erased is the masterpiece.
Metal riff, beautiful piano, great vocals, progressive elements, dynamics, etc. Song is from 2001 but it was remixed recently by the band. You won't regret if you listen to it.

It showcases a different side of Muse which you may not expect while still being rather "heavy"

If you want to go more indie, I would suggest reacting to Uno from their first album, for a live version you can choose the Live version called "Live from Astoria". The song is from 1999 and therefore also very experimental

Uprising on The resistance and Madness was on The 2nd Law, albums both of which while they had their moments, you would be hard pressed to describe as heavy albums, both were quite experimental (every muse album is to some extent) and the singles from the 2nd law and even Drones which was a heavier album, were closer to pop than hard rock for the most part, and that continued with simulation therapy, so i get why Muse heavier side is something maybe you might not of realized they had. Truthfully, they have always had a pop/indie side to them, but also a rock side to them too (which in their live shows you can see they love playing those songs). I think they never wanted to fit a genre and so always experimented - the middle albums may be considered more experiments than having a cohesive sound, and for people who followed muse from the early years, the new single is like a return to those heavier, raw tracks like Dead Stars (though with the Srings i'm also reminded of Supremancy from the 2nd law).
A bunch of stuff from Origins of Symmetry, Absolutions and Black Holes and Revelations will get recommended, probably Live at Glastonbury/Wembly/Rome/The Mayan so I'm going suggest a few not on those albums, something older and something newer:
    - Showbiz, the Title track for their opening album (1999) is well worth checking out - The album version is cool, the performance from Le Zenith is great, though the camera work is choppy, but this version from 2017 is pretty cool too, with a bonus Isolated System to open with ruclips.net/video/BEGlN2KE4fs/видео.html, the album is perhaps a bit more indie, but opening track Sunburn is cool and a b-side for the single was Yes Please which was heavier than anything on the opening album and one of my favorite tracks for a while. I couldn't see a good version to link though.
    - The Handler, here from Glastonbury 2016 ruclips.net/video/BEGlN2KE4fs/видео.html is the pick of the bunch on the album Drones (2015) which is a return to a more rock album for them see also - Psycho (based on a riff they used to use on the end of some other songs when they played them live, awesome riff, shame about cringeworthy lyrics), Reapers, The Globalist has a heavy mid section (it's kind of Drones answer to The Exogeneis Synphony from The Resistance) - All of those are also worth looking up
