Some mainstream stuff and some hidden gem games this month!
but the progress on the Nintendo 64 FPGA core from FPGAZumSpass is the most exciting!

It was once again an amazing month for the MisterFPGA. I'll just add that if you want 24-bit color on a CRT, you can also use the PWM cores. They work pretty much flawlessly and don't require any new hardware. Additionally, the in-progress cores are getting updated regularly with these PWM versions. I'm not saying you shouldn't buy the new Analog board if you have the cash for it, since PWM, due to possible "instability reasons," will never be pushed into MisterMain, but it's a very good free alternative that exists.
What does PWM stand for ?
Pulse wave modulation
An option for sure
another vote for more Amiga content
Amiga is one of the main reasons i got into FPGA in the first place. It was down to going for a Vampire, a MiniMig, or Mister, and i found mister to be much more flexible even thouhg it did not have the performance of the vampire.
there are still a bunch of bugs i am trying to work out of my Amiga setups but for the most part things work.
Basically the biggest obstacles i have seen in the Amiga core is the lack of FPU and the difficult handling of large PFS3 volumes.
I’ll try and do more Amiga content soon!
+1 for Amiga content... Amiga fanatic here since '87 to this day... Keep up the great work nevertheless 🎉
Plenty more fun coming

🎉🎉🎉 Congrats on your 60th birthday! 🎉🎉🎉
Seems like it was just last year you were talking about FPGAZumSpass teasing this "mystery" core that was coming out. Incredible how far you and the community have come in all that time!
Would love some Amiga and other computer content.
I didn’t say I was 60? Lol I’m rewatching the video trying to understand what’s going on
Lol it’s a euphemism about how fast time flies. There is still a 3 at the beginning of my age
I never owned an Amiga, but my older brother did. I watched him play Dungeon Master for many hours. Not a very console-like experience, but a cool one none the less.
I'd also be interested to hear more must-play Amiga games. It's a platform that I think would be fun to get into.
It’s on my list of things to make for July
A Case that has a prevision for a TAPTO scanner would be great...
I’m sure someone could mount it under the plastic somehow
I noticed a weird bug: Shouldn't the burger van in Alien Storm say "Welcome to Pixel Cherry Ninja"? 🤣
🤣 forget that Brit. He’s bad news (we are friends. Nobody take that seriously)
would love amiga content!
Maybe soon :)
This an awesome! Is there a list of Saturn games that are working well?
There’s a spreadsheet on the MiSTer discord server under the Saturn channel. I’d link it here but links get eaten in comments
@@VideoGameEsotericathank you!
raw doggin your mister lmao 9:12
Haha love saying that
Lots of Amiga games I could recommend, but as a starting point I'd recommend Wizkid, it’s a unique game (even if it's technically a sequel to Wizball, the game play elements are pretty different) with a quirky sense of humour. I think you'll enjoy it even if you don’t like the gameplay, just because it's so different.
One thing to make the game go smoother, if you get to the shop with 5 stars and enough money for an extra star, if you buy the extra star you'll get more money. You can repeat this multiple times to rack up the money you have. Knowing this takes helps streamline the gameplay.
I’ll have to check it out 👍

It Came From The Desert is a good one. I used to read the Amiga reviews all the time as a teen in the UK. I thought of it as very similar to the Megadrive. When I could actually test the games, I saw that it had great potential like the Megadrive but for whatever reason many of the games are very jerky and poorly made. That potential is only being explored now.
@simon41978 that one I have played. Good times
Yeah Amiga content would be welcome!!
I’ll work on it soon
Awesome saturn update... sega rally and taitos chase hq wokring perfectly now :)
I’ll have a Saturn update vid soon too
That DE10 cheap clone is a top news of the year , just next to a 7840HS based mini-PC running RPCS3 and other high end emulators.
It’ll be fun to test them eventually
I turn 60 in August so I feel you.
Haha so many people misread that. It’s a comparison to the flow of time. It moves so fast “I’ll be 60 next week”…I’m in my 30s. It’s just me saying how fast I feel time moves these days
CBFD & 2.5 RAM fix, couldn't get much better than that, all MiSTer needs now is optical disc support, and I'd consider it perfect tbh (and integrated Raspberry-Pi support including a MisterCast Pi port).
Doubt you’ll see cd support anytime if I’m being honest
@@VideoGameEsoterica Yeah I know, not enough I/O afaik, would be cool though, so many cores would benefit, not to mention repro games, burning your own discs and so on, not to mention redbook audio.
It would be a fun party trick
@@VideoGameEsoterica Or you could make some kind of virtual disc drive to mount ISO's with their cue sheets or bin files so MiSTer can recognize them, redbook audio for PS1 & Saturn games is a huge upgrade over the current MP3 PCM MiSTer is limited too.
Can someone please explain to me what benefit the beta Saturn core has with a dual ram configuration? Higher resolution? Increased colour palette? Better audio? I’m holding out for the digital I/O board on a new build…
Nothing much compared to single theses days really
You shot another innocent person! This time in The House of the Dead! The ruthlessness continues!
They all know what they’ve done 🤣
Would it be possible to get a comparison video on 18 bit vs 24 bit? I own the 18 bit and original hardware and never noticed the difference on crt. Is it just for PSX, Saturn and N64?
It doesn’t photograph well due to moire patterns getting in the way of the differences
Wish more of those cases were sold no space for a 3d printer yet. Never enough misters!
A1 mini is $199 on sale at the moment, looks pretty small :)
You can always order prints online too
Interesting
YOU'RE 60???? I never would have guessed from your voice and style you sound like 35 or something. Happy birthday dude.
Lol I didn’t say I was 60??
@@VideoGameEsoterica I thought I heard you say you were going to be 60 in a week. Never mind, I'm English so I guess it's an accent barrier lol
What time code? Someone else said this. I’m rewatching the video now. So confused 🤣
Lolol it’s a euphemism about how time goes fast
I want Saturn light gun support.
Hopefully soon
Has anything been said about adding Netlink support for the Saturn core?
Nothing that I am aware of
So yeah great news old boy, I will be 50 in Feb and was surprised when you said your age and baby news. Anyway, while you got freedom and time, all is good. One other thing you don't know about me is I am one of the organisers of the South West Amiga Group, SWAG here in the UK. It has become a massive group and we hold Amiga meets every 2-3 months. I took to Revival my Amiga arcade machine, the UK version of the Amiga Select System and told it's story, sadly I didn't get it fully working in time.
What did I say and at what time code? Lol I’m so co fused
Haha it’s a joke about how fast time goes. I feel like it’s moving so fast next week I’ll be 60. Metaphorically. Not literally
@@VideoGameEsoterica oh a joke, american humour lol (yes there is two u in humour). You have been a machine in producing the footage
I like to stay busy
AMiGA!!!!!!!
A system I need to talk about more
@@VideoGameEsoterica yes! after all one of the first FPGA new age console was the MiniMig (amiga fpga).
One of these days I’ll revisit it
Man you know better than to use hyperbole and sarcasm on the internets, especially as a gaming channel.
lol so many people thought I was turning 60
@@VideoGameEsoterica The overlap of retrogaming and being on the spectrum is a very real one.
So long as they are friendly no bother to me 🤷🏻♂️
