The FGC here in Tampa will be using two of my MiSTers next month for our Vampire Savior tournament. And I think one of our local arcades is going to jump on the mistercade once the clones are readily available.
Thank you so much for including the info about needing the "MISTercade 2P Encoder Board" for 4 player cabinets. That was the exact information I needed.
I tried to make sure all the pertinent details were included and I do have the makers check the videos (just for detail. They get no input on reviews. But MiSTer Addons stuff is so good it’s not like it wouldn’t be a good review)
Ideal set-up for this would be with a nice condition Sega New Astro City. Or, maybe an Egret for shmups. I do have a big cab but it's not as good as Sega's and I prefer the image I get with my big, LCD TV + Tink 4K.
Is the Tink 4K worth it for the money? How much more cooler are the pixel or scanline elements over some of the more modern RetroArch filters that people are cooking up nowadays? I’d love to be able to afford a Tink 4K but having a hard time justifying the cost.
Tink 4K is worth it if you have a lot of original hardware and you want to play it at 4K on your tv. If you don’t have a large console collection it’s “kinda worth it”
@@VideoGameEsoterica thanks, yeah, kinda what I thought. I’d absolutely love to have one. I find it hard to spend that money though. I’m sure it’s an excellent product. I don’t have nearly enough original retro equipment to plug into it, and I’m not super fussed to have the original experience or the FPGA experience, over and above emulation. To have an FPGA Mister experience would be amazing, but I’m not going to buy a cabinet anytime soon, as much as I’d like to (space and money). Hmmm.
Useful, now waiting for Taki's order to arrive (i got a manual order) and I cant start exploring and this helps a lot, 3pl and 4pl was something i was interested in and mister addons work. I also interested in USB input boards like we have in arcade builds to PC/Mame and using them on Mister, also interested in Analogue input too.
Does this board support functionality to link 2 MiSTers for head to head cabinets? Actually, is there any capacity to link MiSTers together normally for VS GB (link cable) or VS PS1 (time crisis\bushido blade)?
So... I'm new to all of the FPGA stuff. I'm planning on doing a 4-player TMNT resto soon. The cab I'm using already has a beautiful CRT installed & a Jamma setup running Tekken 3. The OG wiring is still there and I just need to put it all back where it belongs. I'm pondering installing one of these rather than the original PCB (which are all starting to become fragile and run at least $500 each). Will I be able to run 4 separate coin-ins for each player? This way, the cab would be more reliable if put on site and/or I could also have all of the other 4 player Konami games ready to run on the same setup (along with stuff like Gauntlet and most of the other 4 player stuff). Another dumb question is: Do they have more user friendly front ends for these (kind of like a Pandora's box or 60-in-1)? The dream would be to have this set up for my own use but also to be ready for the wife & kiddos to jump on and play without being tech savvy. If I ever sell it or decide to put it on site, I can have just TMNT ready to go for quarters and it will look & play just like it came from the factory on the outside. Thanks for your time BTW. I appreciate all off your hard work!
Most important questions to me: Will it work flawlessly with dual stick games (Robotron 2084, Crazy Climber....)? I'm not shure Mister can handle two different sticks for the same player. Also, will it work with Spinner and Trackball games, Marble Madness, Arkanoid and so on....
@@VideoGameEsoterica I don't understand? Are dual stick shooters working with Mistercade? I read that it works with an ipac2 but not with 2 usb joysticks. So it seems to be important how Mistercade handles the joysticks. Maybe you can test when you have it completed.
Apparently the Pocket has more bandwidth than the MiSTer according to the developer of the core and that’s the limiting factor. Edit: What VGE said above. ⬆️ Sorry, their reply wasn’t appearing for me until I typed my reply.
Hey there I was looking into this setup for my candy cab, but I would like to use the NFC loading function and turn it into “cart” style arcade cab. Would love to see a video on the loader! Thanks for all the info!
MiSTercade has been adopted by the FGC and is being used in tournaments for classic arcade games, which is quite rare to see.

@@oldboone That's nice. As cool as original PCBs are they are quite fragile and we're due for replacements.
It’s just THAT good
It’s def going to be in a lot of cabs moving towards

The answer lies in the heart of arcades.
Poor arcades. On life support
Ryu SF4
Edging and raw dogging is a risky combo
Glad someone got the joke

Would be good to have a monitor you can rotate

Then yeah maybe not for you. It’s best when it’s ingesting and scaling retro hardware

This is my dream for when I have the space one day!
Gotta get that space!

Definitely not gonna replace my jammix but good to know there are interesting alternatives
Yes this is more for new people
Great video! I just ordered it for my new Astro city. Do you still plan for another video, about v2?
A build vid yes

No the front end here is the front end. It’s all the UI you get. You can have coin inputs yes
Great video I needed this.
I ordered an Unico candy cab and was curious how this would work.
Will you review this with the new Unico candy cab?
Not unless Unico emails me and offers to send one. Not something I can drop the $$$ on
@@VideoGameEsoterica you a big time they will send you one for free for sure
Haha highly doubt it
Can you do a 4 player setup with 6 button layouts, at least for 2 players? I didn't quite grasp that from the video.
You can do a six button 2P setup with a kick harness added in. You need the encoder board for P3/P4
Will the MiSTercade V2 work with the MiSTerPI board?
It works yes
Looks like you forgot to include the link to dorfus' channel. Mind adding it, please?
Oops haha. But it’s just Dorfus so he can deal (I’ll add it)
Do you have to use the jamma or do you just have the option?
Just the option

You’d want to look at bindings per game as those are diff use cases

Oh it’s fine with USB. I just don’t know about over the jamma edge. Thats what you’d want to check
Waiting for the Unico Candy Cab - to put this in - mine came assembled - strangely
The cab?
@@VideoGameEsoterica the mistercade
Ahh I see
I'm assuming that this works fine with Mister Pi?
Should yes. Needs diff plates though
I saw that MK is coming to the analogue pocket and I know someone was working on Mister. Do you know why it’s not coming to Mister?
According to the developer (and I’m doing this from memory) it’s an issue with ram speed / BRAM

@@sega_kid4288 Just have to settle for the console ports.
Would Mister Pi fit?
Good question!
Presumably yes. MiSTer Addons is working on it

Soon! Already made, just not shown yet
does it work with mister pi
It’s being looked into
Wait wait wait WHO IS THIS BEAR PEN
Someone hasn’t been diligently watching recent videos I see
Look, we don't do much right here in Vermont, leave our syrup alone.
lol I am from Vermont
And now, we need a MiSTercade clone from Taki at 99$ 😅😇
Let the vendors have their products. There’s plenty of room at the table for everyone

No sir I don’t like it
