Great job tidying. My space gets just as chaotic. Occasionally, my sewing room becomes a guest bedroom with an Ikea twin chair/bed. It's always a panic trying to tidy it up so it's presentable. But doesn't it feel great when it's done?!? The botanical gardens are gorgeous. The boat tour is such a wonderful idea. Looked like you created a happy memory for all of you. I ❤️ your outfit too. Colorful, comfortable and practical 👌
Thank you Nancy! The sofa in my sewing room is a sofa-bed but my friend who sometimes stays has now been told she can only stay when my boys are away so that she can sleep in one of their beds and I don't have to clean up! 😂 It was a very satisfying process getting it clean though, and I enjoyed going in there and sewing today even more!
You are so normal, sewing rooms get messy, my sewing room is fairly tidy, but the room that I cut out in is a disaster, I am always losing some pattern piece. You did a great clean up. I enjoy your vlogs. Gardens looked beautiful, very different to the mid 80’s when I lived in Vic.
Thank you so much! I hadn't been to the gardens in years, so it was such a lovely outing. I know what you mean about the cutting - it's not unusual for me to find pieces under the couch! 😄
LOVE the bird watching on the lake! How beautiful are our gardens! Oh definitely no judgment here, I'm not a neat creative at all! Loving your Vlogmas Sarah xx
The punting was so fun Kristen! We had the most perfect weather for it, we were so lucky! Thank you so much! Yes, most of the time I just set my tripod up and show an illusion of my space, but I thought it was time to show the real life space I use. 😂
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Oh my word Sarah, I laughed out loud. We have little sayings in my household from books read at bedtime when my daughter was a child and one that popped into my mind seeing that room is a book by Sally Rippin titled 'What a Mess Fang Fang'. hahaha You'll be pleased to know that my sewing space was totally worse than yours about two months ago and I decided to live by my Nana's golden rule of Everything Has a Place and Everything in its Place. As there are two sewists in my home (Hubby sews too) It gets out of control fast, but since implementing my Nana's golden rule, I've mostly stayed on top of it. I say mostly because well... you know... creative inspiration and lack of motivation to pick up after myself is a real struggle. 🤣😂 I bet it felt great to see your floor again, three cheers to you. 😘
Haha, thank you so much! Your comment made me laugh! I really wish I could implement that motto but for me the struggle is finding the place for everything - I need better storage solutions. But who has time for figuring that out?! Maybe one day. 😂 For now, I'll just keep trying to sew up all the fabrics and get that pile shrinking... Yes, amazing what a difference a good tidy and vacuuming can do - such a satisfying transformation! 😆
Your sewing room looks normal to me ,Sarah. It reminds me of my own space, which has to double as a guest room so periodically it has to be cleaned and tidied. My carpet is similar to yours, and the threads cling on to it like nothing on earth. You did well with your tidying up. The carol singing was lovely. Enjoy your party. 🥳
Thank you so much Maggie! Yes, I used to tidy it up properly to have a friend sleep on the sofa, which pulls out to a bed, but now I just tell her to come over when they boys are at their dad's house and she just sleeps in one of their beds instead. 😂
Loved the punting! Thanks for another great outing. Your sewing/play space is fantastic! Only two hours 'til it was clean. Last night, I was so proud of myself for moving the Christmas presents from the Study (spare bedroom) to the Wrapping Area (dining room table) until I noticed that the Study is still a complete disaster area. It just shows that our living spaces are lived in!
No judgment!! Mine is scary bad right now. I'm not worried about it. I loved the part where you went in the boat. What a photogenic punter(?) and dog!! That looked so fun. Have a great party and hope no one steps on a lego in bare feet. xo
Thank you so much! There were no lego injuries! 😅 They did manage to step in and squish raspberries all over the kitchen floor but that was easy to clean up. 😆 Yes the punting was so fun! And yes, didn't the punter look the part! And the dog, so cute!
No judgement here at all! You did so well in your sewing room….sometimes it can be overwhelming so good on you for getting it done in such a short time. I’m lucky to have a room that is small but isn’t multi purpose so I don’t have to worry about anybody else needing to use it.
You are a busy working mum with a creative mind. Your sewing room is bound to end up like that, especially as you are sewing Christmas gifts. Enjoy your party 😊
Thank you Geraldine! It's been working for me for a while like this, so it can't be too much of a problem! It was very satisfying giving it a good tidy though!
Hi Sarah. Your sewing room is a creative crucible. It's really hard to keep tidy while creating things, so your room looks great to me, both before and after the clean up, Antonia
Thank you very much Antonia! It is a lot easier to function in there now - clearing the mess off the end of the ironing board was the most impactful thing! 😄
You are so like the rest of sewists. My sewing room is quite large and very messy. My daughter just cannot understand how I can work in that room. I have no problem at all. I feel that there is no sense in putting the tools away that I use every day. I am so enjoying your vlogs and have watched all of them for December. I’m enjoying the music that accompanies each episode.
Thank you Barbara! It's true - when you're constantly reaching for tools then you want them close by! My scraps and threads on the floor, however.... 🤪
Omg goodness Sarah I’m loving your Christmas vlogmas you pack so much into your day . Can I just say that you very much take after you dad . You made a massive difference to your sewing room well done lol we all have spaces like that when we are busy so don’t beat yourself up you are a working mum who leads a busy life xx
Sounds sensible Barbara! I'm probably the same really. Knowing I had visitors coming was a good kick to get myself a bit more organised though - I did use the opportunity to get all my zips and bag making supplies organised into their own space, for example!
I thought that was hilarious...no judgement from me. That's why people have a designated sewing room...so the door can be closed on the mess. It looked like a lovely trip on the river too.
Beautiful footage from the Botanical gardens and I can see you had a wonderful time 😊 When I sew in my craft room under time pressure it looks very similar to yours 😊
Thank you Sylvia! The punting and the gardens were so beautiful! Yes, the number of projects I've been trying to finish has really put the pressure on - no time to clean or get this space organised! And usually I can just shut the door but with people coming over I really had no option! 😆
Thank you! Yes, I think I need to spend some time working out a proper storage system for many of my belongings, as great big piles or bags of fabrics really aren't very practical!
🙌🏻 Loved seeing your dirty little secret of a messy sewing space! Mine looks the same in the midst of a sewing spree 😂 but I think you need a bigger desk or a cutting table. You need to fully claim this room as your own. The kids can play elsewhere 😅
Haha thank you Sian! I dread the day when the boys want their own rooms and I am completely relegated to the kitchen table. A room with a cutting table would be a dream!
Hi Sarah, su h a lovely outing, I love birds. My sewing room is a disaster and has overflowed into the dining room currently. I have guests tomorrow as well so have to clear dining room at least. 😂. Enjoy your guests. See you tomorrow. ❤
Hahahaha, it is not uncommon for me to dump baskets of clean laundry in here too when I don't have time to sort it and need the basket for the next load! 😂
Bahahaha! I started this video thinking there is absolutely no way your sewing space is messier than mine!... but, actually, I think you might have just pipped me at the post.😅 But only because I've had client quilts on the longarm all week and I absolutely have to vacuum between quilts so that the next one with the white background doesn't pick up all the stray purple threads I threw all over the floor from the previous one! But I reckon if you removed both of our floors from the equation, we wouldn't be far off. 🥇🥇 Your day a the botanic gardens looked perfect. And your hair looks amazing today! 💙
Thank you so much Tamsyn. Every so often I spend time properly blowdrying my hair. There's so much of it though, I don't often find the time! Lol, my space was pretty disastrous. It was so satisfying cleaning it up! Let's see how long it lasts... 😂
I hate having to tidy my sewing room. It is our spare room and if the grandies come, I have to hide important stuff away 😅. Trouble is, it takes me longer to reorganise my mess again to sew😅😅
Haha, I know the feeling! The couch in my sewing room is a sofa bed and I have a friend who would often stay over. Now I've told her she can only come while the boys aren't here, so that she can just sleep in one of their beds and my sewing room can stay as is! 😆
Thank you Pam! Usually I would do a little bit of a clean up between projects but I've been so frantically trying to get all the gift sewing done there hasn't been time!
Oh no, hahahaha! If I could have anything else in my home it would be more storage space - even though mine's pretty good! I think it would help me to keep all of my fabrics and tools more organised, for sure!
Oh girl! You’re real! I have a room worse than that, so I go in and bring out what I want or need and work on it elsewhere! I have to be cautious that I don’t let the rest of the house get that way!
That’s life! …..real life! There is nothing perfect about it. Mine gets the same way too! You take time out of your time to share your sewing experience with us so do NOT beat yourself up. People with perfect homes don’t have a life. 😊
I'm guessing we can all relate to your sewing area. I absolutely hate how all the bits and bobs stick to carpet like glue. Genius's generally make a mess! 😆
Just curious - what do you fix when you’re hungry later in the evening like that? Always looking for other ideas for us! Surely not just tea and mince pie? Again I love the little trips out and about.
Good question! I should have shown you. I keep individual microwaveable rice packets in my pantry, and I had some frozen gyoza in the freezer. I was able to cook them up and have them with rice - took a total of about 10 minutes, and was delicious! And THEN I had the tea and mince pie. 😉
Sarah, you're so busy! If I were to make vlogmas videos it would be, "hi, today I washed laundry and dishes" most days and little else haha Living isolated on a farm doesn't bring much entertainment. If my sewing space was as untidy as yours started out I wouldn't feel so overwhelmed by it. Yours just looked like it was being used, which we all know you are busy in there cramming for Christmas. I have my 5 and 9 yr old niece and nephew visiting and wow.. I am achieving nothing! How quickly you fall out of the habit of working around kids (my own has grown and lives independently). I tried to do some laminating yesterday and had to set them up at the kitchen table with paints just to keep them occupied while I laminated and cut the bookmarks I've made my friend's son. I have things to sew but my sewing studio is an independent building in the yard and while the 9yr old is happy to sit close by and draw and talk to me, Miss 5 comes and goes and I can't let her come back to the house unsupervised cos goodness knows what she'd find to get into 😂 Have an amazing gathering tomorrow.
Haha, I have had a couple of days where I've had to really think creatively to share any worthwhile content! 😆 But being on holidays helps enormously, plus the days where my children are with their dad I can be very productive. And then the days they're with me we try and do different activities, and I figure I can share those here! It's been fun doing vlogmas and showing those other parts of my life. I hope you and your family have a lovely Christmas!
Thank you so much Libby! I love seeing my garden in party-mode! It was interesting to see photos of the same event from last year - the trees along the fence have grown so much!
Oh girl! You’re real! I have a room worse than that, so I go in and bring out what I want or need and work on it elsewhere! I have to be cautious that I don’t let the rest of the house get that way!
I love seeing the reality of a well used making space! 💜 enjoy your sewing!
Thank you so much! It was a bit out of control! 😆

Oh, Sarah! Your sewing room is a reflection of your interesting, rich and happy life. Thank you so much for the lovely lake tour too.
Thank you Janet, that is very kind of you! 💕
Your sewing room produces such beautiful clothing and gifts that a little mess is understandable! Your blog is a delight.
Thank you so much!
LOVE the bird watching on the lake! How beautiful are our gardens! Oh definitely no judgment here, I'm not a neat creative at all! Loving your Vlogmas Sarah xx

Absolutely no judgement here Sarah, my sewing space looks just as messy 😂
Thank you so much! I am finding these comments very reassuring and heartwarming to be honest!
Sewing room equals real life! 😂 ❤❤❤
Haha, glad that people are relating to my space! 😂
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 Oh my word Sarah, I laughed out loud. Oh Sarah you are not alone, my sewing room is just the same!
In fact my family tease me about the messiness, my ufo's and my fabric stashes.😆
Oh good! Haha, these comments have all been very supportive and reassuring! 🤣

Oh, thank you, for making me feel so at home! Beautiful video and I appreciate you taking me along. Blessings to you and your family.
Thank you so much Pam! It's lovely to have you follow along!
Yep, can relate to the mess. 😂😂😂. Enjoy the clean up! Thanks for sharing
Thank you Leonie! I am getting quite a satisfied feeling each time I look into my newly tidied room now!
I don’t feel so bad now Sarah, my room is a disaster too 😂😂
Glad I could help Deb! 😂
No judgement- you are a very busy Mum doing the best you can. You are fabulous ! I love your videos. The end result of your room is great.
Thank you so much Carol! It was a very satisfying transformation!
I loved that little dog on the boat! How adorable!
He was a real cutie who loved being by his owner on the punt!
😂😂😂your sewing room space was untidier than mine (only by a margin). You inspired me to tidy mine, thank you 😊
Glad I could help! 😂

You are a busy working mum with a creative mind. Your sewing room is bound to end up like that, especially as you are sewing Christmas gifts. Enjoy your party 😊

Thank you Anne! Yes, I see myself in my dad a lot!
My sewing room also gets this crazy before I actually clean and straighten. I put it off until I just can’t function in the mess. Works for me.
Exactly Annette! If only I could have just put a "do not enter" sign on the door before the party and left it at that! 😂
Beautiful footage from the Botanical gardens and I can see you had a wonderful time 😊 When I sew in my craft room under time pressure it looks very similar to yours 😊

Wow, glad you prepared us for your sewing space chaos 😂
Hahaha, I didn't want to shock anyone too much!
Good on you, great effort, looks pretty normal to me, but I have improved since I re organised my sewing room! And a big declutter!
Thank you! Yes, I think I need to spend some time working out a proper storage system for many of my belongings, as great big piles or bags of fabrics really aren't very practical!

Thank you Jeni! Oh I hope you felt accomplished after a bit of a tidy! I hope you and your guests had a lovely time!
That’s what my sewing room looks like at the moment too, plus mine has laundry and Christmas presents. 😅
Sewing is a messy hobby. Marry Christmas.
Thank you! Merry Christmas!
I hate having to tidy my sewing room. It is our spare room and if the grandies come, I have to hide important stuff away 😅. Trouble is, it takes me longer to reorganise my mess again to sew😅😅

My room gets messy too & I cut out in another room so more mess in there. It was a wonderful day outing.
Thank you Pam! Usually I would do a little bit of a clean up between projects but I've been so frantically trying to get all the gift sewing done there hasn't been time!
Not as bad as my sewing room! My husband has had to endure me moving into the games room and my sewing room has become the storage/dumping room!
Oh no, hahahaha! If I could have anything else in my home it would be more storage space - even though mine's pretty good! I think it would help me to keep all of my fabrics and tools more organised, for sure!
❤❤❤
No judgement but glad to see someone who has a realistic sewing space! Enjoy!
Haha, thank you Vicki!
Oh girl! You’re real! I have a room worse than that, so I go in and bring out what I want or need and work on it elsewhere! I have to be cautious that I don’t let the rest of the house get that way!
Thank you! 😆 Yes as long as we contain it to one disaster zone I think we are fine! 🤣
That’s life! …..real life!
There is nothing perfect about it. Mine gets the same way too! You take time out of your time to share your sewing experience with us so do NOT beat yourself up. People with perfect homes don’t have a life. 😊
True! It's a very well lived in space, that's for sure! Thank you so much. ☺️
Your sewing room is totally normal! At least I hope so. I do a tidy and the next day it’s wrecked again. 🤷🏻♀️
Oh, I hear you! I feel like I'm constantly tidying up, but my sewing space never seems to stay clean for long!
The chaos just proves you’re one of us 💗. Hide the fabric scissors ✂️😉. We don’t want a three year old giving haircuts 💇♂️.
Haha, yes good point! I had the scissors well out of the way, and the rotary cutter! Completely out of reach!
I'm guessing we can all relate to your sewing area. I absolutely hate how all the bits and bobs stick to carpet like glue. Genius's generally make a mess! 😆
Haha, yes tiny pieces of fabric and thread were everywhere!
Just curious - what do you fix when you’re hungry later in the evening like that? Always looking for other ideas for us! Surely not just tea and mince pie? Again I love the little trips out and about.

No judgement here
My sewing spaces is just as bad.
The garden s beautiful
Thank you so much Libby! I love seeing my garden in party-mode! It was interesting to see photos of the same event from last year - the trees along the fence have grown so much!
Oh girl! You’re real! I have a room worse than that, so I go in and bring out what I want or need and work on it elsewhere! I have to be cautious that I don’t let the rest of the house get that way!
