So I replaced my suspension rods and after a few months the banging came back. I tried different methods to secure the tub, but the banging kept happening. After watching this video I see there are springs that can be put on the rods. I never had those on my kenmore machine I've looked to see if they broke off and nothing was there. I made my own suspension rod supports. I used some black tie down straps with the silver hooks that flatbed truckers use. What I did was put one on the back right side, I hooked it to the tub post then looped it twice around the rod ran it along side of the tub, and hooked to a opening on the machine in the front. On the left front side I did the same thing, but hooked it to a rear opening. The machine doesn't bang violently anymore, and it is more secure than it was before. I breathed new life in this 8 years old machine.
I Google searched my problem, your video came up. I ordered the parts and followed you directions. Works perfect ! All the information you gave was perfect. Just that easy. Thank you
My wife and I had this problem. And decided to take your advice. We ordered the parts online and followed your step by step instructions..and now a brand new washer !!! Thank you so much for your help and your channel !!!
Thank you so much brother! Because of this video, we didn't have to call a repair man. Even my 11 year old son was able to give his daddy a hand! Saved money and momma is happy!
This is the most accurate diagnosis and fix for the unbalance load issue with my Kenmore Elite Oasis High=Capacity washer. The issue has worsened over time to the point I would have to manually try to balance the load for the spin cycle to finish without banging the machine to death. A couple of issues I encountered though may help anyone else trying to replace the suspension rods on a heavier washer than yours. First of all, I contacted local Appliance Parts store to get the correct rod kit that matched the Model of my washer. It was not the generic part that they had on hand and had to be ordered. The removal requires more effort than shown for my machine. My son assisted by pulling up on the tub to allow me to pull the rods high enough to remove the old plastic seats. I did start with the front two rods. When installing the new rods, I learned to remove the rubber washer that was on each new rod. It is reinstalled from the top and slid down the rod to the bottom before attaching the rod at the top. I also had to remove the bottom seats and install the new seats that came with the new kit. The next effort was to pull the new rod up through the new seat and attach the top piece that hold the rod hook. The tub in this machine was heavy and the rod was nearly impossible to grasp by hand or water pumps but my son recommended using an old rod to hook the new one and with a vise grip I had the strength to pull it up high enough to attach it at the top. This worked with all 4 rods. For smaller washers it may be a one-man job but not for this model since 4 hands were needed for removing and attaching at the tops of the corners. Still this video is spot on and the good news is my washer is 14 years old and is running like a brand-new machine. BTW I replaced the upper and lower bearings on this machine about 3 years ago. The same store got the correct bearings and rented a bearing press kit that worked like a jewel. The rent was re-imbursed upon return of the kit! I found a youtube video on this procedure that was for my identical machine!
A great video. When our washer started acting up the symptoms brought us to this site. After viewing the video we ordered the parts. It took us about 30-40 minutes to complete the job, and with these great instructions we had no issues. Machine working now. Thanks again!
I wanted to thank you! I tried everything and as soon as I bought the new parts and put them in...just like new! I have very little skill in home repairs and you made it very easy.
I bought the new suspension rods & my washer working perfectly! I was able to change this by myself. I’m a 30yr old female. lol thank you for this video. I appreciate it.
your style and techniques teaching this is superb. This is coming from an inpatient ADHD home video viewer. and the video footage is on point. appreciate you 👏
Kenmore Model 110. Thank you! Great video. Changing the front two and then the back two was perfect. I had someone hold the tub while I changed them. Unsolicited advice: if possible buy OEM and not the less expensive aftermarket
Thank you for this info. Saved us from having to buy a new washer and the loud noise when the washer spins has stopped. Our machine is larger so it took two people to complete the process. Note: recalibrate after replacing extension rod. I purchased extension rods locally because I was told those ordered from Amazon do not last long.
Parts being delivered today. I have the same exact washer in thr video. So hopeful this is my fix cause I've loved my washer. Been going strong for 10-12 years.
Thank you so much for this video!! I was able to fix my washer in about 20 minutes. You made it look very simple, and it truly was. I saved myself the expense of having to purchase a whole new machine. Thank you so much!!!!
Woman here doing this myself… top of washer came off and can’t seem to get it lined back up to get back on. Can you show how to get it lined back up in the back to get top back on?
So have the same washer and I just replaced the suspension rods thinking it would fix it slamming out of balance. I'm seeing that there's still play from left to right. Those springs are a must. I had to order 4 on Amazon because Lowes doesn't have any washer machine repair parts. The springs apparently keep it center (left and right) while then suspension rods kept it center (up and down). I noticed you took the springs off saying they were pointless. The springs are giving me tension in 4 directions to keep it from bouncing
Thanks for the video. Easy replacement. Issue is, it is still vibrating and rattling!? As far as I can tell it is installed correctly. Any theories on why the knocking and rattling would continue to occur even after new suspension rod replacement?
i figured a great way to pull the new rods up into place, use an old rod hooked end to reach in and hook it and pull it up then snap the keeper under the hook and release.
My drum does not bounce but since it is 10pm I will lay it on its side and check grooves. I hope my 63 yr old, 115 pound self can get it to work tomorrow.
Thank you so much for this video! It saved me a lot of money. The repair man here charges crazy prices. Anyways, I did it in 10 minutes, thanks to your video! Thank you again! These are the types of videos that make RUclips a godsend!
Thank you so much, it worked like a charm. Bought a 48" adjustable bungee at Walmart for less than 3 bucks. Was going to replace the suspension rods, but this fixed it.
Thank you for the video. We replaced the suspension rods and worked fine for about a month or two. Then it started with the unbalanced issue again. What to do????
I've had the same complaint from a customer so I went back and installed the 4 springs and it worked for another month until it started banging again. I don't know what to do next!
We're the new support rods you put in chosen from Amazon based on 5 Star ratings or where they actually the manufacturers part? I'm starting to believe my fellow technicians who say buy only the manufacturers part
Thank you very much. We have struggled trying to get our washer balanced and everything we did would not work. I watched your video and ordered the parts on Amazon for $29. Put them on and our washer no longer dances.

Thanks for the help! Easy install! I do have a question, so my washer still shakes slightly and makes noise, its hard to describe, still a rumbling noise. I heard that the drain pump can also cause some shaking and noise. How do i go about diagnosing a shaky drain pump? Thanks ahead of time!
thanks for the great info and wonderful video quality. great camera angles and very clear. my machine just started this ...small loads are fine but larger ones are getting loud... Is this the first thing to suspect with this balance issue, or is there something to try before this? thanks again, any reply would be appreciated greatly...i'm a bit apprehensive about opening this thing up...
Sounds like a winner to me . I'm headed to my daughters house and do some repair with the same issue . Thank you for the video it's great ! I'll leave a comment once I'm finished .
I replaced suspension rods and it seemed to work great for a few washes. Tried to do a large load of sheets and the same sounds returned. Do you have to reset the machine in any way once you do this? Also I noticed the machine I have has no "Counter Balance" Spring like others do and calls to check when this problem occurs. Is that normal? I have a Kenmore series 400. TYIA
Thanks, it worked. It is definitely less bouncy up and down after but not much difference side to side. It took me about an hour but only because it was my first time - if I ever do it again it will take less than 20 mins. The new parts from Amazon seem very slightly flimsier but I hope will be fine. My husband the laundry-nazi kept putting in too many towels at once which wore it out faster. I'm like: you might as well fill it with concrete. It's a Kenmore washer not an Abrams tank. Good thing he's cute.
Loved your video.... my husband and I replaced the suspension rods in about 40 min. We tested a load and for the first 3 loads everything worked fine.... Then the washer started the crazy shaking and vibrating again..... please help

Thanks you for showing this quick fix... I have this same washer and another issue I have is that on the medium and large mode keeps filling water and do not stops. Would like to know how to fix that too

I have replaced the suspension rods and the tub ring. My washer still moves across the floor on the spin cycle. What else could be causing this on a Kenmore 110.20022012 top loading washer
Great video. I replaced my rods now I'm getting the dreaded "oL" code, according to Sears part it means that washer is over loaded, but it's not. Anyone experience a similar issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Thank you much
Sears repair wanted $377 to do this repair. Charged me $100 to tell me what was wrong. I did it in 20 minutes and paid $18 for the rod kit. I can buy the same new washer for $399 delivered. Pirates.
So I replaced my suspension rods and after a few months the banging came back. I tried different methods to secure the tub, but the banging kept happening. Thank you very much you are/was a life saver. Well described and your instructions was great

Where do find one of these suspension rods to buy?
Yer voice alone can calm the most pissed-off and frustrated amateur washer-repairman!(or woman!)
Thank you for making this video, it was very helpful and we appreciate it very much
You're very welcome!
Great video. I replaced my rods now I'm getting the dreaded "oL" code, according to Sears part it means that washer is over loaded, but it's not. Anyone experience a similar issue? If so, how did you resolve it? Thank you much
What if it’s out of balance but the tub doesn’t bounce?
Sears repair wanted $377 to do this repair. Charged me $100 to tell me what was wrong. I did it in 20 minutes and paid $18 for the rod kit. I can buy the same new washer for $399 delivered. Pirates.
I charge somewhere around $200 for this repair. I always install oem parts though and mark up the part.
