Everybody knew to expect it. And yes, I'm a huge Beatles fan, but you know what - back in the day Dick most certainly would have asked John, Paul, George and Ringo to hand out gum, too. It was all part of the fun of the Saturday night Beechwood Hour!! Sheesh.....
This is 1958. Four black performers. Every audience member is white. Everyone loved the music. Everyone got along just great. We can all learn something from them ....

Besides being great harmony, melody and lyrics, you can understand every word they say. Plus, the music isn't so loud it steps on the voice.
