Yes, what a great band and a great tune. The message is current 20 years later, unfortunately. Simply magic. Page is the man.

I look around the world today and from the first time I heard this song "Live In Peace" back in 1983 the lyrics still haunt me.....

i remember my friend not caring much for Page until i played this for him. i had it on a large 45 with this and city cirens on one side and a long version of radioactive on the other side. still have it. don't play it anymore since the turntable is put up. i do get in my nastalgic moods and hook it up sometimes. i imagine i'm back in time and jammin' out to this on the turntable. miss the teenage years sometimes. what's happened to music these days?

I'm a huge Jimmy fan...I remember hearing the studio version of this when it came out and thinking that it was the best solo that Jimmy had done since Zep. He always knew how to structure his solos, to the point where even if he was sloppy, he still took you on a journey with it.

Saw the Firm in Atlanta in 1986 . I laughed when my young wife asked why was he playing guitar with a bow . They were awesome as was Jimmy on Raleigh NC in 1999 with the Black Crowes .

agree...i saw The Firm in Houston, Tx in '85 and '86...my first two concerts respectively...the 85 show blew me away. I was such a Zep Head at the time...5th row floor seats, Houston Summit...unbelievable experience. Not Zeppelin, but to me, a goofy 17 year old kid, it was as close as I ever got to the mighty zep.

i'll never forget a friend of mine not very much into Page because he was into the 80's hair and metal bands. then he heard this solo and said "man! he's good". this is about the time when Page started to have a slight chinese look about him.

Here's what kills me, tickets to see the Firm went on sale in Canada way back in 1986 and before i had a chance to buy them the concert got cancelled. I never did see them live but man i sure would have loved to have seen them. I wish they would have stayed together as i think they were really great. At least we got two albums out of them!!!!

Comrick317 , I saw them in the old Boston Garden in April of 1986. The poster of this video is wrong about the timeline.

Actually it was J Beck & E Clapton who got Jimmy out and back in the game, To play for the Arms Concert in 1983, Then he went to The Firm

    • @28mary06
      @28mary06 7 лет назад +1

yeah, you're right. but Paul Rodgers take him to the studio, and a new album. Beck and Clapton are real Jimmy's friend, and yes we have to say thanks to them both ;)

Thank you for putting this and the other Firm vids on the tube....Awesome and underrated band. Some of Jimmy's prettiest playing is on those 2 Firm discs and of course Rodgers delivers on vocals and Slade and Franklin are great musicians!

@doable1 You want "old"? My earliest rock memory is seeing The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan show. They made such an impression that I remembered the video when I saw it a couple of years ago on RUclips!

I've seen Jimmy 3 times, Arms tour in 83, first firm tour in 84 and with Robert in 98
I got lucky and Jimmy burned each time
of course all of them were in the LA area
and he likes it here. I love this version Jimmy is tortured and his guitar is bleeding- wonderful passion. Yeah Paul used the outro from a Bad co song for this
one even on Mean Business but I forgive him.(he plagerized himself on piano)

They had an opening act at Kemper in 86. I can't remember who it was but they were playing when I found my seat.

I read or heard an interview with Page that the Firm were only supposed to do about two or three albums. It was to be a short project.

@elcherner I also saw them at the Byrne Arena. Remember the laser beams all around Jimmy when he pulled out the bow & did his solo. That was awesome. I also remember he had to sit down as I guess his legs were real bad at the time.

They did not play Dazed and Confused. Jimmy did what was the later years Zeppelin version of the bow solo from Dazed and Confused. Their standard setlist didn't change much night to night. No Zeppelin and no Bad Co.

Page/Paul made some great music. Midnight ML was a masterpiece. However, I feel they had no on-stage chemistry and remained aloof. Plus Paul has a Big ego.
However, I can see Paul being a part of the New Led Zeppelin ;)

  • @BoEmery

Paul doesn't look anything like this anymore, he's got a fake piece on his head that's colored completely wrong (as well as his beard), I don't understand it. He is AWESOME! I don't know why he wants to look like someone who is trying so hard to look young.

Money? lol.. What world do you live in? Money is the reason we can't live in peace? Not even close. How about religion? My God is better then your God. That is why we can't live in peace. Has nothing to do with money.

I'll have to say I was not impressed with the show I saw. For one thing, Jimmy was so wasted they had to bring a chair on stage because he couldn't stand up, and me and a friend were pushed against the stage, and my friend had to be pulled out by security because she couldn't breathe. We spent most of the show at first aid....I'll enjoy on here and on cd; I will not pay to see them again in any capacity.
