I like this drummer. Solid back beat. Serves the music. Makes it look easy. The mark of a great drummer.
I watch and listen to Dave’s drumming most nights. Without a doubt the best drummer I have heard. Man, you have just GOT it, beautiful feels, not a wasted note!

Fabulous performance by David Northrup and the entire band!!! I watched this three times in a row just to make sure this amazing groove seeped deep enough into my soul. It did.

I've heard this song nearly hundred times since I discovered the Bozz Scags live dvd version on YT 4 o 5 years ago. I've heard several live versions of Bozz since then. In The David Foster and Friend version the drummer is terrific too and I suspect that plays the GREAT Nathan East on bass.
I think that everything is "in place" (besides the great musicians) because the arrengment are WRITTEN from the first take.
By the way... Anyone knows if this drummer is the same drummer that plays in the Bozz dvd? Thank you.

I am not a drummer but am loving these insights from the drummers perspective. Amazing how they keep the groove just bang on. AND then there is Bozzs falsetto and killer lyrics. Excellent stuff David.

Marvellous groove and pocket David. I'm sure you'll agree that this is another example of a terrific song made great by Jeff's drum part. He was able to do that on so many recordings.

Excellent hands and technique; love the movement and flow. He plays these as close to the studio versions as I have ever heard, Its just awesome. Well., thats a Pro. Great stuff. So relaxed and comfortable. Porcaro would be proud.. :)

His parts were always so musically perfect I tried to emulate as close as possible on certain songs where it made sense. I felt like honoring those parts honored him and the music.... @@DavidNorthrup I do not know the first thing about drumming but I do know Boz Skaggs music. You make him sound sooo good. Tell you the truth I'd rather watch your videos than listen to the originals. The test used to be was could you make the live performance sound as good as the record. Actually you make it the reverse.. you make the live performance sound better.

David i had never heard of you until i watched travis tritt and i researched your name then i saw you here with bozz! Totally impressed by your impeccable timing, and suttle attack, i have a new favorite drummer ☺ one question is that snare metal or wood it has a distinctive pop or it may be the guy hitting it!

Hi Tracy, thanks for your very kind words! That snare drum is actually a Gretsch 6.5x14 Bell Brass Snare Drum. One of my favorites these days and perfect for the Boz gig. Very versatile.
David Northrup i am using a ludwig crome over brass 14 x 8 ! I really thought your snare was wood. Sounds like heads are fairly loose ?
Great drumming! Stayed true to Jeff Porcaro and his original parts.
